My boss is from England and when he'd come to the US we'd travel together to different plants and to some vendor facilities, so we did a lot of driving. Many times we'd pass places like Ohio Stadium in Columbus and he was in awe at the size of the stadium. Then I told him it seats over 110,000 and that the Buckeyes sell out every game of every season .... he was dumbfounded. Hell, we drove past Bowling Green State's football stadium in Bowling Green OH, which seats somewhere around 30,000 and even that was pretty large according to him. He's a huge Manchester City fan and I have to admit I have never checked out their stadium, but apparently it isn't too large!
Its great because you just feel like you can connect with everyone around you at the same time because you are all there to have fun and root on your team. The atmosphere is kick ass!
We can't even play Pitt anymore for more than a few years... New conference setup sucks. Even though fans would go nuts and shell out big bucks. But everyone wants the cupcake wins... There's gotta be some sort of balance... Oh well I guess...
Not at all, college football is much bigger than the NFL. Think about it, teams in the NFL are filled with players from all around the nation, hell Pittsburgh hated Ohio but Roethlisberger and Le'veon Bell are both from Ohio, and they're basically the picture of the current team. College teams are usually filled with kids from the state and a few out of state. College football is much more representative of the area, the fans are far more involved and have a bigger claim in the game, mostly being alums and students. The NFL will never compare to how awesome college football is.
Such joy. Tradisions like these in Sports are lovely. Dancing or good funny moves, singing or making happy noices😂 It makes my heart happy, and I wish I was there.
As an avid Badger fan, I've been to every Big Ten stadium, some of them several times. Beaver Stadium is the loudest, for sure. It has the intensity of Camp Randall--or at least close--but with 25,000 more people. Great college football atmosphere. Try Iowa, too. That's the best non-Wisconsin road trip.
i've been to only one or two penn state games, mainly because i'm a wisconsin fan that lives out here in the philly area. i was at a badger-psu game in 2004 or 2005 and i have to admit that the penn state crowd is very intimidating. great fans, great student section...must be one of the toughest places to play in college football.
Look at that stadium! Wow, what a sight! They sure can really pack a lot of grown men into such a tight squeeze. And with all that club music; I bet it's all steamy and sweaty in there!
that's looks awesome! Gopher fan here and I am jealous wish my Gophers had support like that. Rank that up there with "Jump around " in Sconny! This old man misses college lol . Very Nice
EaglesFan4Life17 that's funny how your whole team is 5 star athletes and you have the full 85 scholarship players yet you only have only 1 more win then Penn State....We Are! PENN STATE!
This is easily the best stadium in all of college football. As a student there, we spend the entire day gettin "rowdy" with festivities and then we become the best fans around. Nuff said!
@Okanehira Thank You, it's good to hear from the other side of the pond. It's a totally different game than football/soccer. It does have a steep learning curve when it comes to figuring out what's going on, but once you get it it's a fantastic game. I'm willing to bet that most of the problem that British people have with American Football is that we call it "football" in the first place.
I am a true blue Michigan fan, but I have to say that Penn State has the best crowd in all of college football. I would love to go there sometime just to be a part of it
That white out is incredible!! I live in Utah and you couldn't get BYU or Utah to do something like that. Utah tried with the Black out and it worked pretty good but that shit is just straight intimidating
I love smashmouth football myself, but anyway, there's usually two white out games actually. One is homecoming, the other is a big rivalry game. Wisconsin was homecoming last year, and Ohio State was the rivalry game. There will also be two white outs this year, one against Illinois, and one against Michigan. The white out started in 2004 against Iowa, after that, up to two a year. Before that, we did a Code Blue (everyone wore blue), last one was right before that against Purdue in 2004.
Same with the MLS here aswell. Just past the nba in average attendance, thats crazy lol. You guys have produced some really good athletes, Im sure there will be an aussie dominating the sport worldwide at some point.
Penn St. has the biggest stadium capacity right this year and last year due to Michigan stadium going under renovations. But come 2010 Michigan stadium's capacity will be expanded to 108,000 which is about 1,000 less than what it previously was. But stadiums like Beaver and Michigan have very loose attendances since their seating are benches, like Michigan stadium is suppose to be at 106,000 right now but their opener registered about 109,000.
Our soccer competition (a-league) is fairly new, going into its 8th season next month. Its definitely not the most dominant sport in aus but its slowly becoming more and more popular.
NO, south park didn't bring me here... I came here to watch my classmates go crazy for the team we LOVE! And I will carry on the tradition & continue to go bat-shit insane after every sack, touchdown, and interception for the next four years. WE ARE not pedophiles nor are we insensitive to the atrocious acts of a few men. WE ARE the most proud fan base in the world and we support our team no matter the circumstances. WE ARE (and forever will proudly be)... PENN STATE!
I can't say for sure who has the loudest stadium. But from most of the articles I can find online, Penn State, LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Oregon, and Ohio State always make the top 10. And yes, Penn State has the largest stadium. However, I think the rennovations Michigan is doing/has done are putting it at 108,000, which is about 800 more than Beaver
Wolverine fan, but I have mad respect for Penn State's football tradition and Joe Pa. As far as the Big Ten goes, after the Wolverines, I pull for the Nittany Lions.
I hate PSU with every fiber of my being(grew up a Notre Dame fan, raised in Pittsburgh, and went to Ohio State)! PSU has always been a thorn in my side!!! But with that said the have the most insane student section I've ever seen! We are getting there in Columbus, but The spirit spreads to the rest of the fans and they are just as rowdy! Incredible!
I went to see them live at Croke Park in 2014, i was just two seats away from the marching band it was excellent. I have to say though it is a bit of a guessing game after a few gargles about whether a team actually got a 1st down etc.... Its a lot easier on TV with that big Yellow Line imposed on the screen
