Almost impossible to have shoulders too large. Mine have been under size for many years because I never had a dedicated shoulder workout routine. My undersized and undefined shoulders absolutely diminished the look of all the other gains I was making elsewhere. I finally had to get serious and take my shoulders to the woodshed. Put them at the top of my list for almost two years. Man, best thing I ever did. My shoulders are now in proportion and i feel wide. My back and chest also benefitted from hitting shoulders hard. My opinion now is that large, cut shoulders are the keystone on which to build the rest of one's physique. Can never hit them hard enough. Love it!

Hi John, I'd like to apologize to you for a comment I made on one of your previous videos. You're clearly very passionate about what you do and very knowledgeable in your craft. Unfortunately I became a keyboard warrior and misjudged you based on how you looked. My comments were made publicly and even though you replied to me, it's only right my apology is also made in public. I'm sorry for any offence caused, keep up the good work. Message I sent to John: Those over pronounced deltoids, rounded traps along with the stretch marks across your chest all point towards a natural lifter, now sell me your supplements and workout plans like everyone else and make me believe I can achieve your results naturally... As you can see I was very sarcastic and disrespectful towards John. Nobody knows the true meaning of why we are all here, but I know spreading hate isn't it and fundamentally didn't sit right with me. To say this experience has had a profound effect on me would be an understatement, as such any previous negative comments to anyone else have been removed with public apologies made. Well John, I must say this is fantastic. I thought I could use these 3 exercises as a “warm up” and then go into my delt routine for the day. These exercises completely exhausted the shoulders. I did finish my routine afterward but I was gassed! Thank you for posting this.

With you on the pressing. I've done a lot of overhead pressing in my life. I was a strongman competitor and every comp had an overhead event. Log, Axle, Single arm dumbbell, yolk press, medleys etc etc but my shoulders were always shit. Literally looked like I had no growth. I dropped pressing almost altogether and put in more side laterals etc and boom, shoulder growth! I used to lift heavy all the time and had lots of injuries with pressing. I lift much lighter on my shoulders now and they look 100% better! Have you tried cuffed crucifix laterals? Very similar to the last cable exercise you did. Love those at the moment.

The partial raise with more reps and higher weights makes sense, will try it out. I can imagine it will burn.

Not many people realize this concept. Heavy shoulder presses wreck my shoulders, especially if your doing a lot of heavy benching. Variations of these lateral raises have brought out width in my shoulders the last couple of years. Like you said about learning what works and doing shit that everyone thinks works, live and learn, with age comes wisdom. I’m 54 and you are spot on. Wished we could train together. Good info John.

I've always remembered the form of that cable side lat raise as "that cable machine disco dance exercise."

RU-vid has many cons....MANY, but I can't denied, that in the same time it gives unique opportunity. The man is UNFORTUNATELY not anymore with us and still he continues helping us. RIP John ❣

Hi John, I’m a new sub, & as a competitive bodybuilder I always try various ways to work on my weaknesses & gave this capped delt workout a try this morning, completely bang on my shoulders 👍they have never felt the stress & effective work as in this workout & I didn’t even use the poundage. fantastic info & well detailed & explained, even the more experienced are never too old to learn, thanks big time 💪

Thank you! As a long limb small frame lady that competes, it's so incredibly hard to get any size in delts.. never tried that 2nd ex in that same position with arms. Gonna add sit and it these 3 together. HOPEFUL!!

I thought I was the only person doing that second exercise. I’ve never seen it shown before until now. Depending on the angle you can do these on have the front felt relaxed while the side delt does the work.

best shoulder video yet for side delts and when u really think about it when u bench u using front delt pretty good and when u hit back u hiting rear delt pretty good so side delts really need more then the other two

Simple yet extremely effective. Two things that most of the hombres are doing wrong... Either they're performing these workouts w/ the wrong amount of weight or rushing thru them by going thru the range of motion too fast. Great stuff!!
