I know there are tools to automatically find the key for you but I do encourage anyone to try and get the key by ear or trying out a few notes on the piano, it helps your relative ear and your overall musicality

The key is going to change every song.. (didnt mention) The retune speed 35-10 is a massive difference.. (didnt mention) A retune speed between 45-55 requires someone who can already sing better than 90% of people.. (didnt mention) these setting will not work for most people, every person needs different autotune setting catered to them specifically. Applying the wrong amount of autotune can actually make your vocals sound worse.

Also I just wanted to let you know antares has a plugin called Auto-key it tells you the key signature and automatically changes it for you :)

I personally add more retune 20-0 is my range and dial back the tracking between 42-1 my personal sweet spot is either 36 or 21 depending on gender and timbre and max out humanize at 6!! gotta try your settings on a old session. thanks for the deets🫶🏾🫶🏾

Now just buy auto tune pro for 400$ than apply eq, reverb, delay, add compression, to boost the sound as a whole and tweak your stereo output desire, cut out es' through peak frequency cuts. Now clarify or sound to ensure it sounds as desired.

i personally do 8 retune 70 humanize, but i like a heavier tune. Then i change it from hard to soft in the trigger mode settings.

Why use humanize If the artist can actually sing? My understanding of humanize was to only use it if you had to crank the autotune to max levels (1-15) and it sounded to robotic

To that guy that said that you don't have to find a BPM of a track to sync the key of the track to that song don't know what the hell he's talking about all you new engineers that just started this don't know what you talking about stay out of people way that know what they talking about cuz yes you do have to find the BPM of a track to sync it to the grid in order for the auto-tune to work with the key of the track if you don't do that it's going to be off the auto tune is not going to work properly Plus you have to know how to sing in notes so if you don't know how to sing in notes the auto tune is not going to work properly auto tune is not used like T-Pain is using it is used to correct your vocals that's it with we using it for is the incorrect way to use it but that's the hip-hop way

Autotune should be set as fast as you want while avoiding digital artifacts 30-10 works well for singing while anything below 10 will start sounding robotic like mumble rap which is at 2-0 Ive never used autotune in soprano mode it always seems to miss notes so im usually in Low Male it works better than tenor even for female vox usually

Well, as per use, you forgot to mention the fact that there are absolutely no definitive settings. It’s all about context, sections and effect. The more you dial it in, the more accurate it will work. And, more importantly, when it comes to R’n’B, singers will tend to sing odd notes that fit the track wonderfully. In that case, your « perfect setting » only kills creativity and ideas. What was a good tip turned out to be a « i just discovered something on a particular track and I thought it was end game » type of situation. Dam’, guys, I’m not even ranting at that point. Takes 2 seconds to mention…
