So, slight miscalculation on the damage from Solphim and City on Fire. The damage from the spell is multiplied, the commander sees the multiplied damage and his damage is ALSO MULTIPLIED. it's actually exponential. so either 4 times damage with Solphim or 9 times damage with CoF or 36 TIMES DAMAGE WITH BOTH, WHAT?!?! With both of, you'll be doing (with ONLY a shock, mind you) 72 FREAKING Damage! Edit: TO EACH OPPONENT!!!
Yea that's what I thought, triples LB damage to 9, which then she triggers to hit for 9 which is then tripled to 27 to each opponent face as she is a different source of damage
@@marianocolsin8968 most likely 3 cards and one of them is your commander. Any burn spell will do the trick in that situation and surely an Imodane deck will have plenty of it.
With commander and solphim out, you cast lightnig bolt deals 6 damage to each creature then your commander sees it as 6 damage imprinted and since solphim hasn't seen commander do damage via his effect yet from this interaction, solphim would double it 12 damage to each opponent
You forgot a two really cool niche card that are only good with this commander. Shivan Meteor deals 13 damage to a creature and then 13 to each opponent. Fiery Encore has storm but every single copy of it counts as a single source so you deal damage equal to the discarded mana value to a creature and then to each opponent.
@@N4chtigalltheoretically, token spawn, goblin shenanigans, and something like Battle Hymn. Typical Zada strategy, it's not hard nor uncommon. Hell, Spawning Breath here does wonders for this exact purpose.
I was just coming to say Zada would be a great secret commander for this deck. Run all instances of double or triple damage multipliers and have efficient go wide and burn spells. Seems like fun.
Wouldn't damage triplers also triple the damage that came from Imodane herself as well? so, Lightning Bolt + Fiery Emancipation + Imodane = 9 damage to target creature, then Imodane does 9 damage to each opponent, which then gets tripled again by Fiery Emancipation because she's a new source dealing damage, so 27 damage to each opponent? WOW! lol
I think Mishra’s command only works if you use the two options that target a creature and make it the same creature. Imodane’s wording is “ONLY a SINGLE creature” which I believe means that it cannot target anything other than just the creature
Dictate of the twin gods, Angrath's Marauders, Furnace Rath Solphim, (the next two are one turn use only), Insult (which has Injury as an aftermath bonus) and Quest for the Pure Flame all double damage from sources you control to permanents and players, and there's just about as many that specify either instant/sorcery, your creature's doing or damage to the players or creatures. There may be to much math involved for the average burn player. Especially if you were fo say have Torbran, Fiendish Duo and Dictate of the Twin Gods. A Lightning Bolt would deal 10 to the target creature and then 48 damage to each other player if stacked right.
If city on fire triplicates every source of damage, doesn’t that also work with zada’s ability? If I’m correct a lightning bolt should do 27 damage to each opponent But maybe I’m wrong
I believe it works more like this Lightning bolt, deal 3. City on fire triples it. Red goblin takes 9 damage Red goblin deals 9 damage to target player City on fire triples it Opponent takes 27 Red commander sees lightning bolt deal nine damage. All opponents take 9 City on fire triples it. All opponents take 27 damage
Real question about Mishra's command. I'm not sure about how to read Imodane effect that says "a spell [...] that targets only a SINGLE CREATURE". So we know it won't work if it targets more than one creature, but will it work if it targets a creature AND a PLAYER/PLANESWALKER ? Because with Mishra's command you have to choose 2 effects so it will always target more than just one creature
I don’t think so. It says ONLY a single creature. I think the only way it works is if you use both options that target creatures and target the same creature with it.
Don’t think so. She would die to state-based effects before you get priority. What you could do is kill her in response. For example, if she is targeted by murder, you can use shock in response on her. If she is killed by a lightning bolt, you cannot react once the damage is dealt, but you could use your own lightning bolt instead.
Burn needs a one mana instant fourth turn I WIN button with a single Lightning Bolt? Yeah, mate, sure. 27 Commander Damage in one go to every opponent with City On Fire or other damage tripler.
It wouldn't be commander damage, as that's only combat damage. Regardless, 27 damage to all is still very good. Even better if you give commander lifelink!
yes, because there are two different sources for the damage calculation. If you get Solphim and you happen to be the active player, you somehow choose what replacement effect comes first. So you cast a spell that damages a creature. You double THEN triple that damage, then again Imodane will hit each opponent with the total value, then that damage gets doubled AND tripled, and that pretty much is a game if none was playing some Oloro or whatever lol
I am annoyed people are going with the zada strat. it is lame and played out... you realize that if you get fiery emacipation out and only commander. a lightning bolt will do 9 damage to each creature and 27 damage to all players right!?. it is easier to have multiple damage doublers and triplers than find a single zada in your and also a brash taunter type creature and get all of those on the field
