What is a perfect fourth and how do you recognise one when you hear it?
This music theory lesson covers the interval of the perfect fourth.
It explains that a perfect 4th interval describes the distance in pitch between 2 notes that are 5 semitones apart.
Plenty of audio examples are given, including Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Amazing Grace and Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata in order to help students learn the characteristic sound of a perfect fourth and be able to recognise the interval when they hear it.
