That Optical Port is a big selling point for me. Ever since that got removed from the Xbox Series line of consoles, trying to get 5.1 while keeping 4k 120hz was hard. I did eventually find a HDMI switch that has a built in audio extractor. This would remove a couple of cables from my setup. But I can't justify £1300 and I have enough things I'm trying to do as it is Great review as always Chap

Thanks for the detail about 65Ws vs 90Ws on the USB-C port. I don't think anyone else covered that and it's good info to have. Regarding not being able to get to 240Hz. Most people that are spending this money on a monitor are probably buying 4090s and the soon to be announced 5090s.

Agree with you, they are so expensive they cost the price of some previous gen OLED 65" TV. My theory is it's more expensive over here because EU has a mandatory 2 years warranty on new product sold.The cheapest I can find here in Belgium (when available) is 1515€ (1631$). USA show prices without taxes, the highest average combined state and local sales tax rates is Louisiana with 9.86%. Which gives 1299$ + 9.86% = 1417$ Yes, that's in the most taxed states. It can go as low as 0 but that's an exception (only 4 states). Eyeballing it, the national average is around 6% or ~1 377$, so one could conclude that the ~254$ dollars difference left between me and the average US citizen, went... in a 2 years mandatory product warranty.

This is what I need in a monitor. I cannot have myself being reflected like in a mirror. It's super distracting and I hate it. This thing looks worryingly like it will reflect my face back at me. @@Thetechchap Thanks, I'll be watching! Had a chat with Asus and confirmed that the cheaper M5606 has a slot to upgrade memory from 16gb to 32gb and the more expensive S5606 does not (odd). The cheaper S5606 has slightly more keyboard travel (odd again), slightly smaller bezels, and is slightly dimmer (500 nits vs 600 nits). And of course the chipsets are different, as is the port selection. Overall, though, they're very close.

I still prefer 4k at 27-28inch it looks SO GOOD that you can completely turn off AntiAliasing and after have playing 4k at 27-28in range since 2014, I am NEVER going back to anything lower as far a pixel density goes

Its personal preference. On 32 inch I have more immersion and screen estate. Some people say that 48 inch is too small for them. as current middle ground this Asus have 27 inch mode with 1880p internal resolution ;)

I really don’t understand people still using 27” @ 1440p. Maybe I’m spoiled by Mac screens for the past decade but 1440p at that size is just a blurry mess for me. 4K at 32” is also pushing it a little for what might be considered high pixel density. At that huge size I’d expect 5 or even 6k.

I wonder how much the price will go down if it was 120Hz or even 60Hz. I mean, some people just need a monitor to watch HDR videos and those videos are at most 4K 60Hz.

MSI doesn’t support firmware and isn’t calibrated as well as the this one. I personally have the UCDM and the hype is true. Incredible monitor. The gigabyte is interesting but who cares about DP 2.1 at the moment. No GPU can support it and even when they begin to we are going to be using DSC anyway. Not a big deal
@MrM-dl5zm
@MrM-dl5zm Месяц назад
It all depends what you want from monitor. I don't see a need for DP2.1 and I need something extra such as dolby support or ability to turn off all leds including power indicator. Panel is the same so its only matter of which extras you prefer.

I rate MSI highly, after trying couple of their latest monitors. But here in central Europe, Asus and Msi have biggest taxes, and price is usually 30% higher than MSRP. I guess I will wait for Gigabyte, since Dell and Gigabyte have MSRP pricing usually here as well, but Dell is curved so I will skip it.

Yes if you're not using ray tracing or path tracing, you'll have enough grunt for most titles at 4K 100+fps If you're ok with a larger display I'd recommend a 55" Samsung S90C over this, otherwise this is your best option (get the cheapest 4K OLED 240hz you can buy imo)

How does the HDR compare to the PG32UQX?
@LexLutha
@LexLutha Месяц назад
The UQX smokes it but the haloing on the UQX is rough. I had both. I would probably pick the OLED just because the haloing.
@d.s.9213
@d.s.9213 Месяц назад
@@LexLutha Yes that's what I thought. I have the UQX and it is unsurpassed in 99% of any content but the haloing in scenes with multiple small bright spots against a dark background as well as the reverse haloing in gray/foggy scenes means that immersion can be broken and the cheapest OLED could laugh in its face in certain specific scenarios. Still I am hesitant to go for the UCDM because I use my monitor (a lot) for office work as well as gaming plus I have an LG C1 as a second monitor which is absolutely fine as an OLED monitor if I want to play a game that would suffer from haloing on the UQX. I am still not convinced that the UCDM would be a good all-in-one option despite the 3 year burn-in warranty. The UQX is really sturdy and I am completely care-free displaying static content on it for hours on end, I would probably be paranoid with the UCDM. I have been using the UQX for thousands of hours of work and play and there is zero degradation in the picture, zero dead pixels, no lighbleed and excellent uniformity in a way that it makes it hard not to forgive the 1% failure in some very specific scenarios.
