Dave, My Local Pro has made me turn my left hand round more nearly showing 2/ 3 Knuckles as I had a problem om coming over the Top and not Compressing the ball enough! I have had to change my swing path to more in to in to stop this. he placed 3 balls on an angle and I have to hit the middle ball... If I go wrong and come over the Top I would hit the left hand ball and visa versa!! It has gained me distance and a better shot but kills my arm having to grip my left hand so far round!!! Jack nicklaus played everything off his front foot, 18 time major winner, is he wrong ? The problem with most club proffesionals is they want you to stand, swing and hit balls like a proffesional, not really doable for the majority of club golfers in truth. Just my opinion of course, and the point of comments. Great informative video though Dave.

@@frankzayas3103 Jack's swing was nothing more special than the rest of the competition of the era, , what he did have is incredible self believe and ability in what he was doing, as did Stephen hendry on the snooker table and Phil Taylor on the dart board, others were beaten before they even started more often than not on the big stage.

Dave, on ball position you mentioned SW, PW, 9i, 8i and 7i as being middle of the stance. That suggests that you're talking traditional lofts as you've not included a load of gap wedges. For a modern set should we be saying, SW, GW1, GW2, PW, and 9i played from the middle and then the 8i slightly to the left of centre?

I needed this, my swing has felt great, the low point of my swing is good (using an accustrike mat) but for some reason my path is just about a clubhead’s width inside the ball, meaning I am hitting everything 90° left (I am left-handed). The 3-point posture and letting my hands fall naturally has proved invaluable. Dave, as always, your clear and concise guidances has worked wonders (in practice!)

Some sound advice here Dave. Thanks for tne tips. About 55 years ago this drill and ball position training was given to me by our club pro anx working with him got me down to 6. Now at 71 I still maintain that drill and ball positioning. Difference now is. 22 handicap and almost no follow through. Don't we all love age......lol

Tried to put into practice the grip lesson from last week. It's a winner. From a weak grip to a neutral felt more stable in my hand and through the shot. Can't wait to play around with ball position. I like the look of a ball further up in my stance, so we'll see what happens. Loving this series.

I see in the comments people ribbing Dave about middle of the stance for sw-7iron. What you seem to forget people is what Dave said earlier on. “Consistent setup”. Of course not everyone’s body mechanics are identical, but if you use a consistent position, and setup in the position for YOUR body mechanics, then it will naturally lead to consistent results. I have had to change my old position, but I made that change a repeatable and consistent one. It works folks. Perhaps we should see a lesson on not taking everything so damned literally.

I had to develope a much different type of swing....because of all the operations on my leg. The ball is played farther back in my stance and I use my upper body strength much more than lower body.

This is the critical stuff that you need to do befor every shot. I personally play the ball back a bit on the short irons with 7 just back of center and SW way back. It works for me but the key is consistant setup of you, the club, and the ball. I reach to hit my driver but prefer other clubs to not be reaching. If I play the ball too close I will slice no matter the club, so distance from ball is critical. thanks Dave

Because some people have a wide stance and others a narrower stance, the feet are not a good indicator of where the ball should be positioned. No matter what stance one adopts the triangular relationship Between the shoulder hands and club head remains constant with regard to the centre of the body. IE: the nose, Sternum shirt buttons belt buckle, which is why using the centre line of the upper body is a much more accurate way of positioning the ball so as to ensure solid contact at the bottom of the arc described by the club head
