That’s awesome bro. I’m 46 and used to tune them a lot in the late 90’ and 00’s. Just saw a clean Civic Si 90-91 on the road today. Reading your comment now and damn I want one again.
My first car was a 1985 Honda Civic CRX, bought in 1989. I drove the wheels off that thing. Unfortunately by 2008 the body was all rusted out, I gave it to a clerk at AutoZone. It had 340,000 miles on it, still did not use a drop of oil. In 2009 I found what I always wanted on eBay, a 1990 CRX Si in all original and mint condition with only 68,000 miles. I won it in the last 5 seconds of the auction. I still have it and always will. The Honda CRX is one of the best cars ever made.
In my opinion, late 90's - early 00's Honda engineering is unmatched especially when you factor in the cost of purchase/ownership. What other "ECONOMY" car revs to 8k+ and has front/rear double wishbone suspension?? JUST FUCKIN RAD!! GREAT EXAMPLE
In my 20s, I had two 88 CRX Si's. One white with Mugen body kit & a B18A. The other was stock red with a CA bard B16A2. Till this day I still regret selling both of them. Especially how rare they are to find in decent condition. Also, the value they are worth nowadays.
Owned a mk2 crx vti for 10 years over here in England when I was younger. We were lucky enough to get the VTEC b16a and there were also some imported Japanese import SiR's too. Mine was stock, custom exhaust, dynod at 165bhp , timed 0-60 of 6.6 seconds, and did 153mph at 8200rpm hitting the rev limiter. From a stock 1.6ltr engine, no turbo is crazy. One of the best cars I've owned and by far the best fwd car ever made imo. Nothing could corner like it back in the day. Awesome cars.
Take your pick: CTR, S2K, ITR, FD2, MKIV, STi, EVO, GTR, 350Z, MR2, NSX and so many others.. The mid '90s - mid '00s was without a doubt the absolute Golden era of JDM vehicles. I was a teen in the 90s and the CRX was always a classic. Seeing one with a K20 swap is definitely a head turner.
In HS I played soccer with a guy who had a really clean silver CRX. I had an ‘85 GTI. We were probably the only two people who loved and drove FWD lightweight hatchbacks in the whole school. We’d park them next to each other like we were at a car show.
Had a 91, looking forward to finding another one soon. The best car i ever had. Fun little car, unmodded when i bought it. I lowered it on st suspension, cat back exhaust, prelude fog lights, prelude brake booster, gsr rear disc conversion, was a blast even with the stock d15 single cam. Awesome build.
This is my dream CRX! Soo clean!! Manual with no power steering? Yes please!!! I could never afford one of these in highschool. I'm guessing with the renewed interest in these old JDMs I probably can't afford one now! Good job, soo stoked to see a thing of radness.
Had a 89' Si from new up until 2002. Put 320,000 miles on it. Lowered with bigger wider wheels. Handled like a dream. Was about to do a B16A swap then test drove the mew to America WRX. Bought a WRX and sold the CRX. Been missing it ever since. Now they cost to much.
I graduated high school in 1995 and the CRX was loved by many back then. Really cool cars for what they were then and nothing like the car in this video existed. Fun to see!
In my early 20s, I had build an ef with full sir front end and interior along with a built k24/20 with a kraftwerks supercharger and it was so much fun to auto-x. It would spank v8’s light to light and absolutely demolish them around the track with a full set of ohlins, R888 tires and wilwood bbk. I regret selling it to this day, 15+ years later.
That sounds like a killer set up! I’ve seen a guy in an orange eg with a similar set up putting out 550whp with those kraftwerks kit on a k24 motor it was crazy!
HF, DX SI... Brings back memories. I had a dark red DX, and my friend had a black SI. Mine had like 98 hp and his SI had like 110. It was a great time to mess around and race each other lol.
It's a dream car to me, I had two in the past, one I crashed 1988 dx with a zc integra swap, and another I bought at night in the rain when I was 18.. it's been the one that got away for me.. I will have one in the future for sure!. I love that it's NA! It's more than plenty for this car, and the kswap is mint!.. excellent build!👌🏾
This dudes beard color is the representation of how stressful this 12 year build was.. XD Honestly insane clean CRX, I remember these back in Highschool, and this one was DONE RIGHT. Love it.
The lower mainland in BC is so unique that I can pick it out pretty much every time. So green, so beautiful. It's distinctive from any other place. As far as the CRX goes. One of my favourite cars of all time. I wanted one so bad back when I was a teenager....still do! I had a 76 Honda civic which was a blast to drive, just not even close to enough power in my 1200cc engine, but I never had money to do anything with it.
My first two Hondas was a yellow 91 CRX SI and a white 89 CRX SI!!! Loved both of those cars I've built over 30 something Hondas since the early 2000s!!! Currently have a built 95 Civic Coupe that is my track car and a very very rare 2004 Honda Accord V6 6-speed manual coupe with the 1 of 500 EVER MADE.....HFP HONDA FACTORY PERFORMANCE PACKAGE with full bolt ons 320 HP at the wheels as my daily driver!!!
I need to have more patience like you. Just got a clean CB7 and I feel like I'm in a hurry to get things done. Edit: FYI, you cannot "crack" that top glass. It's tempered, so it either goes "boom" into pieces or stays perfectly intact.
Love this video as I am a fan of the small, old-school Japanese sports car., they are the best...My dad had an early 1980s Celica when I was a kid, and my uncle had a Datsun. I learned how to drive on a manual transmission, it was a 1999 Civic Si. The CRX has always been a car that I never owned, but drove a few times growing up. I want to buy one now after watching this video. The 1999 Integra Type-R is another car I'd like to buy.
Very nicely done Crx. It’s always nice to see a nice complete car meaning engine, interior, exterior, brakes, wheels, etc. Too often we see cars that go fast but can’t stop or it looks like a junker.
The first car i ever remember registering being "cool" first to draw my attention at 4 years old, im now almost 40 and bleed and breath cars only owning large displacement ls's and hatchbacks. I would trade my gti for a crx in a heartbeat
My first was an 82 civic hatch with a 1.5 with a carb haha absolutely loved it, and then my first and current motorcycle is an 82 honda twinstar 200 that ive made into a cafe bike..kinda cool tho both firsts are some of the smallest little hondas available that year
@N-light-end-1 my folks were the second owners of a 1987 ballade. The pop up lights. I'm from South Africa. They gave it to me at 17. I still have and currently doing a full Resto on it. A carb motor with a rocket blox back box on it sounds like a riot. That was my first mod at 18. I have this car 20 years as my own.
I owned a 1993 crx in high school! I graduated in 2000! And mine was the same color as this one and I used the pylewood in the bk with to Rockford 8inch subs and 2 6.5's with a 300 watt Rockford amp! I love it! Even stock 0 to 60 was like 7.0 seconds
God this car is so dope! I had a buddy in highschool that had one and we thrashed on that thing so much lol. Great little cars i would love to have one.
I had 3. My fav was my Nighthawk black 91 Si with 95 Integra GSR wheels. DOHC ZC swap, ported and polished head, shaved head. 11:1 CP pistons. Yamaha 1000cc ITBS cut and welded. Custom torque stepped 4-1 header. MSD ext coil kit with 8.5mm wires. Hyper grounding copper kit. Clutches clutch and a Quaife LSD. It kept up with 5.0 mustangs actually. Solid low 14sec car.
Had a Primer painted CRX with a B16 swap and an eBay turbo kit in high school 😂😂😂 shit was dope at the time ran 12s which was flying at the time(2004) compared to what a lot of kids had around my age. Loved eating some mustangs up with my primered lil p.o.s. 😂😂😂 great memories Ill always have a soft spot for a CRX
My best friend got a CRX when we were about to turn 16, it was red and he later got a yellow car. I learned to drive manual in the red car, he literally drove us to a parking lot late at night and let me just drive it around, that was super super cool to me, I have always been appreciative and that always swayed me on the hondas when everyone else hated them.. I'm actually a Toyota guy and owned a bunch of supras, cressidas, gs300 and sc300's. I had a 1uzfe swapped ae86 that I built very cheap and it reminded me alot of the CRX. Cool cars, this would've been around 00-02 when we were kids! This is a super cool car man, if i could fit in one well still, id consider building a b or k series car.
I had plenty of this in high school and stock You could get this for 800 to 1500 used with some miles back in those days now they want 25 k plus 😂 Fuck that But definitely Bad ass video Bring good memories back Wish I would have kept mines
I had one in the 90s for 4 years, I have never bought anything not Honda after that, and I've looked and tested and tried everything. People think that more expensive cars drive better and that couldn't be further from the truth.
I had one in the same color, JDM B18C swapped and all. I sure miss it, I regret selling it for sure. I thought I needed to because I was expecting a child. You live you learn I suppose. Thanks for making me nauseous.
I have a 450~500rwhp (flex fuel with a KB 2.1 and a built engine) 1993 NSX and the 2nd Gen CRX Si is the ONLY FWD Honda that I love after I drove my friend's cherry 1991 Si with 5k miles on it. Thing was so spacious and much lighter than the NSX, which is pretty light already.
I think the crz had a lot of potential if they made it look a bit better and bigger with k-series from ep3 or fa5 civic. It was a let down, they wouldve sold way mire if they had a k series and made it bigger like veloster
The first rex I ever seen was completely flipped out, bright orange full body kit with wing and white 18 inch like 6 spoke rims laying frame. I was 13 I think. Then at 14 I believe my older buddy Morris had a rex si I think 91 I believe. He found a donor car at the impound yard they sold to him with a J-Spec carbon fiber front and back bumper with integra stock rims headers pipe. It was a super fun ride.
