I fell like we didnt get all the story..please share you bow poundage and draw length used to obtain that speed. Thank you. Also..was that the Mach 30 ?
@@WesternObsessionsTV Thanks…I figured you must be around 80lbs for that speed and weight arrow. I’m just up to 65lbs now…goal is 70 lbs. but I’m almost 60 years old…hahaha shooting 370 gr at 298fps at the moment.
Hey bud, it’s been awhile. I’m going to have to disagree with you here. Added weight up front does not give the arrow better flight nor does it increase penetration. The kinetic energy comes from the bow. Higher FOC doesn’t create a lot more energy on target. If you built a log that weighed 1000 grains, it would leave your bow with more kinetic energy than your 475 grain arrow. It would also have more energy at every distance down range. realistically with modern equipment, You’re not gonna be able to shoot it as far because you’re gonna run out of clearance. True FOC is dynamic. It is calculated while the arrow is in motion. An arrow won’t stabilize unless that arrows center of gravity(balance point) is forward of the center of pressure while in motion. In reality the vanes increase FOC. Try shooting an arrow without vanes that is evenly weighted. Make sure you’re in an open area because no one has a clue where that arrow will go. It’s crazy, it might take a noise dive in three yards or take a hard left at 5. One thing is for sure, you are not hitting a target at 20 yards. Now take that same arrow and add 3 vanes to it. It will fly just fine and you’ll have no issue hitting the target at 20 yards. The vanes increase the pressure moving the center of pressure towards the vanes which increases FOC. I’m not even gonna go into how ridiculous it is to act like you built a new arrow and then walked out to 90 yards and shot it for the first time and hit your target. Not to mention you could see how the sunlight and shadows changed quite a bit from when you were in front of the target when you were shooting at target.
