But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
Don’t rejoice when your enemies fall;
don’t be happy when they stumble.

I'm sad that we will not get anymore reviews like this one, because of a few negative folks that don't like change or new tech that absolutely applies to model railroading.

You know, I truly believe you had the enthusiasts at heart when you made this review. You can see the excitement of how cute and little and simple it is. Especially towards the people that aren't tech savy or are scared to even try getting into 3D printing. I do believe this would be a great entry to someone that doesn't know what they are doing. Keep doing you bud. 🤙 I'll keep watching whenever you post!

Jimmy, I came back to this video after watching your follow up video to this. After reading the comments, it appears some of them are "toppers". They know better, have better, etc. Not all things are all encompassing to all people. You know what opinions are like. Stay strong and true to your idea of your channel. I'll be kind and play with my trains too!😁😁

One great use for a small, affordable printer like this would be to print custom windows, doors, eave brackets, etc. for those who scratchbuild structures of any scale. Thanks for the review, Jimmy!

Looks like it’s a perfect tool for small jobs. The fact that’s it’s near idiot proof is nice. Lots of 3d printers require a computer, which I find a hindrance as I don’t have a lot of space, so using an app is awesome. And the price point is not bad. Being on a fixed income, do to disability, I have to watch how much stuff is. I haven’t seen many 3D printers at or under $200. Thank you for the review.

We love our 3d printer but find it a bit cumbersome getting thru the design and convert process. The fact that this uses and app and can scan objects is a huge plus! Definitely checking this out. Thanks, Jimmy!

I lost interest when you said it has a proprietary filament cartridge. I learned that lesson from inkjet printers. If there's only one place you can buy refills, you'll be at their mercy for whatever they decide to charge you.

For the money and ease of use I would suggest the Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro @$200. I cannot see any upside to the printer you are showcasing other than size. It kind of reminds me of the first 3d printer I built from scratch using CD drive motors many years ago.

I can definitely see the appeal of this type of printer for those new to 3D printing. I've had an Ender 3 for 2 years and have yet to print anything because I haven't been able to get the bed to level correctly. When I do find the time to work on it, the filament is brittle, so I have order new filament, and rinse cycle and repeat.

@johnm8425
@johnm8425 9 месяцев назад
You should look into 3D printing and see if it's a hobby for you (yes, it is a hobby unto itself that helps our other hobbies). For model railroading and miniatures you want a resin printer and that will require a dedicated and well ventilated space that is free from natural light. 3D printing also requires good technical skills, it is not just plug-and-play.
@Phoenixknight79
@Phoenixknight79 9 месяцев назад
@@johnm8425 alright can you give me an idea of maybe which one I should look at. Yes, the one you showed in the video would be nice for small items but what if I wanted to do like buildings?
@johnm8425
@johnm8425 9 месяцев назад
@@Phoenixknight79 If you are doing anything larger than N scale, you want to do buildings in sub-assembles. You don't want to do large buildings as one piece as the large flat surface areas can be difficult to print and if you fail a large print, you waste a lot of resin and time. To use some examples you may be familiar with as an model railroader: I am partial to the Elegoo brand as I started with a Mars 2 Pro, which is a good introductory printer and can easily print something like an HO scale boxcar or wall sections for smaller O scale buildings. I have since moved up to a Saturn 2, which could print something around the size of an O scale boxcar or a moderate HO scale building like a house or small factory.

@@johnm8425 Thanks for your info, would you prefer to use a 3d printer that uses liquid resin or filament? What I'm thinking I'm going to mainly use the machine for is structures and misc small items.

In that price range I think there are a handful of better options. It definitely looks like a cute printer I'm sure it's capable, but the second you want to print something slightly larger than that tiny print bed you're going to realize why the other printers specs matter.

Another bloody app. Proprietary cartridges. Non-heated bed. So small it defeats the purpose; I have an FDM printer so I can print bigger things as they are cheaper than resin that way. I'd say I'm sticking with the Mega S until I can afford an upgrade.

I suppose for anyone with very limited space and only plans to print small objects, that can be a good printer. However, anything a small printer can make, a larger printer can also make plus the ability to produce larger items. Personally, I think going smaller is counterproductive. Just my opinion.

I don't understand the point of this printer. Its expensive, requires filament only from the manufacturer, and is slow. What's the point? This video sounds like a positive review cause they paid me (ie free printer). I don't know if thats the case, but it does seem like that.
@StevesTrains
@StevesTrains 9 месяцев назад
I looked at this printer too, and you can open the cartridge up by removing some screws and replace the small PLA filament roll in there (worst case wrap it yourself). Yes, that isn't ideal, but it is doable, and it cartridge helps control moisture. The slowish speed isn't really much of an issue because you are only printing small things on this printer. Most of the detail parts I've been printing (and printing several copies at one time) still print in under an hour. Yes, it is a niche printer, but I like it for sitting above my desk where I can just print stuff throughout the day. It is kind of like my astronomy hobby where ease of use means you use it a lot more. I use this one much more than my Ender 3 printer just because it is more convenient. But, this is more of a supplemental printer and if you can only buy one, then you should of course get a bigger printer that is more flexible.
@DIYDigitalRailroad
@DIYDigitalRailroad 9 месяцев назад
I totally understand where you’re coming from. I do like this little printer. It reminds me of my first printer (Flashforge finder). This printer is simple to use and not intimidating. There are a lot of people who are put off by the complexities and variables of 3D printing. This is who the printer is for in my opinion. My review is model railroad centric, but it’s also a great 3D printer for kids.
@mmerc9838
@mmerc9838 9 месяцев назад
@@StevesTrains that bit about being able to reload a cartridge is a very important detail which does make the printer look better. But still, at that price point, I'd rather pickup a Creality or other. I guess the real selling point is that there is no assembly. It's almost dummy proof. Hopefully.
@Drsef50
@Drsef50 9 месяцев назад
Seems like a total waste of money. There are far too many cheaper 'real' 3D filament printers on the market. With all of the limitations of this printer I see it as an exercise in frustration. I purchased a Creality printer over 18 months ago, followed the setup instructions (numerous YT vid's available to assist), and continue to produce excellent results. Within a few months of use I discovered how much I would like an even larger print bed to print larger items. Jimmy I'm disapointed that you even gave this device a test run let alone posted a video somewhat endorsing it.
