I remember when I bought my Motorola Atrix with the Lapdock. I thought it was the most innovative technology. It didn't work perfectly, but it was certainly ahead of its time!
I really want to move to Android full time... I do creative writing, and Word and Google Docs both, fail in so many ways... I use the S9 Ultra, but could easily use this with my Z Fold 4. Microsoft or Google just need to step it up a notch.
3:56 well done you found the right mouse button switch. Or im not understanding what you mean with the flex. Thank you for the video, saves me some money. :D
I remember in like 2015 Acer or asus had a laptop shelf for thei android phone, so you docked the phone in the laptop and you could use it as a laptop. Fun idea
OK!!! Good to see that. But it needs a 4k version, better rigid hinge, keyboard backlight, the trackpad dual mode numbers and yes better ratio like 3:2 or 16:10. Maybe it can use with Surface Duo Windows too, or Android. To ergonomic the wireless charger will be down to keyboard and trackpad, but you have takes care don't hit the phone will is charging.
So you mentioned that you don't like 16:9, and I'm curious as to why? Obviously this is all personal preference, but to me 16:9 is pretty much the perfect aspect ratio. My Tab S8U exposed me to 16:10 which I think I like slightly better, but 16:9 is one of the aspect ratios that the most content is designed around.
@luizz_k my Z Fold is pretty close to 4:3 and it's a serviceable aspect ratio for the limitation of needing to look like a phone when folded, but not ideal.
Hi, thanks for the overview/reviews. Do you know what the specs of the ports are? Example: The usb Cs 3.2 gen 2, 1? And, can they both be used for input, or is it one for charging, one for input? Lastly, same question (speed) for the usb A, and micro sd card? Thank you much.
I had a weird niche use case in mind for this, Instead of buying a new gaming laptop, I was gna hook up my gaming pc to this, and get 6900xt performance on a laptop that doesn't cook my legs, but for the price i could just get an oled 4k portable monitor and do the same thing with a wirless keyboard mouse and tab holder arm thingie. Sitting at a desk with my oled ultragear is gna give the best performance but it's uncomfortable and my desk is awkwardly placed due to lack of space. my 3050ti laptop is good but the screen sucks, and the gpu sucks.
Very weird that you don't like HDR? Is there a particular reason? Movies and games look 100 times better when HDR is enabled vs disabled on my OLED monitor (S90C)
@@scaryifliteral Sorry if I'm wrong, but it sounds like you didn't play with the settings enough. In windows, you can enable HDR, then adjust the brightness of non-hdr content to look good comparative to HDR, then adjust the brightness of your monitor to be not as bright as a whole. Also windows has the HDR calibration tool which let's you set lower max brightness. Sedondly there's monitor settings: It differs per brand, but for ex on samsung you can disable "peak brightness" and put contrast enhancer on low to get lower peak HDR brightness. Good HDR implementations in games (ex. Horizon Forbidden West) allow you to set every aspect of the HDR image seperately. I also can't stand the picture looking too bright, but if you configure HDR correctly for your own eyes then it looks so good.
Look at it this way. You've got a spectrum from SDR to HDR. You can sort of tweak things to be where you want it to be to some degree. The more HDR you go, the more it bothers me and the line where it starts to annoy me is fairly early on. SDR is just safer/easier/better for me.
I love the concept, but there are better and cheaper options out there. I personally use an Asus portable monitor that has a battery and a touch screen. I got it on eBay for $200 and new it costs around $300 but there are a lot of portable monitors out nowadays with all different sizes and features. I have a full size Bluetooth keyboard I bought for $50 that pairs with my Fold 5 and my Surface Pro 9 so I get the same keyboard experience across devices with no comprise. I have a couple of mice but easily could have used just one that connects to 2 devices. If the monitor was $200, the keyboard $50, and the mouse $50, that is only $300 total. I like the phone stands that are also docks as this way I can still use my Fold 5 as a smaller 2nd screen. I want to like and use Dex more, but having the Surface Pro 9 and using that as a dual screen setup and then the Fold 5 as a 3rd screen is the best setup for me! The Fold 5 has its own folding mini keyboard so I can type separately on that!
Flexibility. Like I said, if all you're doing is using Dex or something like that, it's a hard sell. If it's also a monitor for other things, that's different.
While that's what I personally would do (well, a tablet with a keyboard anyway), I asked this same question to a group of people who use these things and the reason they like them is -.they're cheaper than a decent laptop - since their internals are things that can't become obsolete before they wear out, you only need a new one as often as the thing physically stops working - the internals are upgraded every time you get a new phone - all of your files are on one device - no cloud syncing required Absolutely there are reasons to prefer a standalone laptop or tablet instead, but if your phone's capable of running all the software you use and all you need is a bigger screen and a keyboard, this is a convenient and budget-friendly way to do that. Unfortunately, these don't come with an S Pen, aren't super thin, can't detach the keyboard, don't support Samsung Second Screen on Windows for a wireless second monitor, and force you to use Dex's layout (I think One UI for tablets is much easier to use and cleaner-looking), so paying a little more for a new tablet every so often it is.
@@scaryifliteral so why we should buy this for this price instead of buying portable scrren for waay cheaper prices? also they have 2k or 4k resulation too?
