The PERFECT South Carolina Beach Town: Pawleys Island 

The southern tip of South Carolina's Grand Strand is technically at Winyah Bay. Several miles north of Winyah Bay is a place called Pawley’s Island. it’s a beautiful island that sits at the southern tip of all the crazy development centered around Myrtle Beach. Go southwest of here and you won’t see any development on the coast until you get to the Charleston area which is about 62 miles south west as the crow flies. Pawley’s Island is in Georgetown County in an area known as the Waccamaw Neck, which is a long peninsula between the Waccamaw River and the Grand Strand. It’s all apart of the Myrtle Beach metro area. You wouldn’t know it though when driving through as it’s a much different feel than the larger city to the north. Pawley’s island is about a 40 minute drive from Downtown Myrtle Beach, or about 24 miles.
