I’m going to take special notice when watching weightlifting at the summer Olympics this year, I am sure we will see a lot of this technique in action!
I thought it's just inner tights pulling knees together as it kicks in to lift you up. But honestly I'm not surprised it's body shifting in to better position. Body knows better than all the Athleans!
I think the important thing to consider is how the knee curve is occurring. I haven’t read the study so I can’t really speak on both knees caving together but if you have only one knee caving in there is definitely some form of imbalance.
