Hiya man. I've been following you since I started 7 years ago. I am now going my grade 8 and trumpet is one of my greatest passions and I want to thank you for being here
I’m a multi instrumentalist who plays primarily stringed and percussive instruments. During lockdown I decided that I wanted to finally learn my favorite instrument which is a saxophone. Oh my God, I have so much more respect for them now than I already did before. My face has been hurting for like two years now. 😂
Step 4 was my game changer… by stretching my bottom lip - this engages my corners. I’m gonna keep practicing but this tip really helped to get a natural feel and sound 🎉
@TheBlackTrumpeter Your videos are informative, yet you keep things light. Embouchure is usually difficult to explain. Ya nailed it🌻 Horn is a blessed hobby for me. You've helped me get back into it with many of your tutorials. Your jazz progression ones are really good🎶
For some of us, we have no choice but to tuck our bottom lip over. I have an overbite so a normal embouchere is sprt of impossible for me. Yes, my horn angle is very low, but i can fix it with a brnt mouthpiece. I am still able to produce a good sound.
I'm glad blowing straight works for you, and I understand that you got to get clicks and views, but saying this is a "perfect embouchure", or that not doing this will damage your trumpet playing is pretty misleading.
@@TheBlackTrumpeter Like I said, I'm glad it works for you, but that doesn't mean it works for the majority of players. Most players blow down and should (downstream). Some blow up and should (upstream). Very few blow straight. I post this because my students see videos like this and start "damaging" their own playing with techniques that are incongruous with their face structure.
@@TheBlackTrumpeter It depends on their lips, teeth, etc... I tend to align a lot with Donald Reinhart's ideology. My point is to avoid a one size fits all approach.
Hello, I’m greatly inspired by your channel and I ve been watching you for a while and I am a 8th grade trumpetest at my school and I got 1st chair in district band music and I have been wondering what trumpet you use because I really love the sound of it and I’ve also been trying to play the jazz pieces you have recorded for us and it’s been going pretty well so far but I am trying to up my level in the trumpet industry so if you see this it would be really great if I would be able to know the name of your trumpet, it would be greatly appreciated ❤
Hey! So I’ve watched some of your videos and they’re really great! But I need some help. I got into this exclusive band as a trumpet 1 chair 3, anyways the audition had no rangy stuff in it so it was pretty easy for me to play. But the pieces I’ve been given to preform are a different story. Range is EVERYWHERE!! And I just can’t do range! I need some tips to be able to improve my range fast, the concert is in a few weeks! Do you have any quick pointers?
It’ll be easier to give you personal feedback if I can see the music you’re working on for your concert and hear you play. Email me at contact@onlinetrumpet.studio or Dm me on Instagram @theblacktrumpeter
@@MinisterMime4000 here’s a mouthpiece placement video I created years ago ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sQCJHFLliBA.htmlsi=DX-lOpylLgBzEA9g but I will update it and created a new one.
