🔔 SUBSCRIBE: ru-vid.com?sub_con...
In this video, we delve into why Clayface is the perfect villain for Matt Reeves's The Batman 2. With Batman neglecting his Bruce Wayne persona for too long and Gotham struggling to find its identity after the Riddler's reign of terror, Clayface represents the perfect embodiment of duality and inner conflict. Drawing from his rich history in comics and Batman The Animated Series, The Batman animated show, Clayface offers an opportunity to explore Batman's struggle with his identity as Bruce Wayne, while also showcasing Gotham's own journey towards either succumbing to its dark past or pushing forward towards a brighter future. In addition, we explore the possibility of Harvey Dent/Two-Face appearing in the film, further highlighting the duality motif. With Matt Reeves at the helm and Robert Pattinson bringing a fresh take on the Caped Crusader, we are certain that The Batman 2 will be yet another amazing addition to the Batman franchise.
As fans eagerly await the release of The Batman, we cannot help but speculate on what the future holds for Gotham's Dark Knight. One of the biggest questions on everyone's mind is which villain will be the next to challenge Batman's mettle, and we believe that Clayface is the perfect choice. With his shape-shifting abilities and his unique connection to the identity struggle that Batman faces, Clayface could make for a truly memorable and iconic villain in the upcoming film.
In this video, we take a deep dive into Clayface's past appearances in various Batman media, from his initial introduction in the comics to his most famous portrayal in Batman: The Animated Series. We also explore how Clayface has been used to convey themes of duality and the struggle for identity throughout his history.
Furthermore, we analyze how Harvey Dent/Two-Face could fit into the narrative, especially with the dark themes prevalent in The Batman 2. With Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson's fresh vision for the Batman franchise, we are sure that whatever direction the film goes in will be nothing short of amazing.
So join us as we examine why Clayface is the perfect villain for The Batman 2 and how he can bring a unique perspective to the narrative that explores the themes of identity and duality in a way that only a shape-shifting villain can. Griffin gives you his Batman 2 theories and breaks down the latest Batman news hinting at Clayface being involved in The Batman 2. Enjoy this The Batman 2 explained analysis!

The Batman leaves our hero and Gotham City in a unique position that no other Batman film has attempted. While Bruce Wayne may have foiled The Riddler's plans to eliminate Gotham's mayor-elect Bella Reál, the city itself is completely submerged underwater.

What do you guys think about the reports of Clayface being a big part of The Batman 2? 🦇 Comment below!💥
@whynot7507
@whynot7507 Год назад
I would love if Clay face was introduced because we NEED to see some super powered villains in this trilogy. We already got the super realistic grounded Batman with the dark knight trilogy. I want to see some Batman and Robin fighting characters like Clay Face, Bane, Man Bat, and Poisen Ivy in this one
@Nevad25
@Nevad25 Год назад
@@whynot7507 Fuck no. This Batman doesn't need CGI monsters and superpowers. Let Robin for the DCU. This Batman is way too early in his career to have a Robin and be a father figure. And ti be honest having a Batman bringing an underage teenage with him never sat well with me. For fantastical Batman you already had the abysmall Snyderverse and the coming DCU, so let Reeves build his world.
@whynot7507
@whynot7507 Год назад
@@Nevad25 lol you're pretty off my guy. Robert Pattinson said he'd love for robin to appear also Batman literally gets a robin at this exact point in the timeline. He actually gets his robin at around year 1-2 which would perfectly fit into the next movie (I love robin and researched this topic so much). Also no one really wants another overly realistic Batman movie. We want a more fantastical Batman. The Dark knight trilogy already did the realistic Batman. It seems like you're definitely in the minority for wanting another Batman with no superpowers villains. Because Allll I've seen is people explain why this Batman "Needs" to have fantastical characters. And everyone would love robin. Also the DCU is starting off with Damien Wayne and a potential full bat family. So Pattinson's Batman could quite easily work with introducing Dick Grayson first. Also we've seen far too many Batman movies with no robin. robin is a fan favorite character and my personal favorite DC character and he's been done dirty in live action just because of the Batman and Robin movie. Robin is Definitely coming soon and he will specifically be around 13-16. Pattinson said he'd refuse to do robin unless he was actually 13 which is fair because that's accurate to the character. Batman isn't such a good guy and it's great.

@@whynot7507 "lol you're pretty off my guy. Robert Pattinson said he'd love for robin to appear also Batman literally gets a robin at this exact point in the timeline. " What do I care that Pattinson said he'd love to have Robin appear ? He also said he'd love to have Condiment King as the next vilain. Matt himself doesn't seem that interested in having a Robin in his world either. When asked if Robin was going to be a part of the sequel, his response was "I don't know. Here's the thing, I have a lot of ideas about what I want to do. I'm not sure what the next story is. For me, whatever that story is going to be, it's going to take these characters, and specifically Batman's character, and put them in some kind of emotional jeopardy. So, with what you're talking about, there may be a really interesting story. There have to be emotional stakes so you get drawn into that character's story. I don't want that character to become a cipher- I don't want it to be like, okay, so we saw that it wasn't an origin tale but it was kind of his origins, and now he's just perfect. No, you need to test the character again, again and again, and for me, there might be something in that, I don't know, there's a deep dive that already happened and a deep dive that will have to happen again if we make another one and so we shall see." You can see how enthusiast he seems about this idea. It clearly was a "Yeah yeah it could be cool but it's not what I intended now leave me alone with this topic, next question" kind of response. Having a Robin takes away some of the spotlight off Batman, and in an era of movie where the vilains and other characters often takes the spotlight away from Batman, I want this trilogy to have a complete focus on Bruce Wayne/Batman and his development. We don't need Robin in this universe. There's already Catwoman that fills the role of a "partner" for Batman and in a more interesting way as they sometimes see each other on opposite sides and complement each other really well. "He actually gets his robin at around year 1-2 which would perfectly fit into the next movie" Depends on the timeline. Some say he is Batman for at least five years before he recruits Dick Grayson. For example "Dark Victory" takes place about 4 or 5 years after Bruce became Batman and that's where he recruits Dick. Personally for me anything less than five years is too short. But then again if it was for me Batman would never have had a Robin, he's more interesting working solo. By the way this Bruce Wayne is so messed up at this point in the timeline that he can't be a father figure, it makes no sense. "Also no one really wants another overly realistic Batman movie. " I do. "We want a more fantastical Batman. " I don't. "The Dark knight trilogy already did the realistic Batman." Yeah, and ? Schumasher and The Snyderverse already did fantastical Batman as well and the DCU will too, so wouldn't you say that having a realistic Batman with Reeves would balance things out ? Plus every goddamn superhero movie is filled with fantastical superpowers, magic, humor and shit so can't we just have a good, serious and grounded Batman movie focusing on good character development and the corruption surrounding the city from time to time ? Batman isn't even a superhero, he's a vigilante, a man without powers, so instead of having him fight a big pile of mud, an invincible alien or a plant talking lady, wouldn't it make more sense and be more interesting to have him fight the corruption in his city, take on the mob, fight his non fantastical villains like Joker, Black Mask, Penguin, Riddler, Scarecrow, Bane, Carmine Falcone, the corrupted officials, Salvatore Maroni, Hugo Strange, Zsasz, the Ventriloquist, Professor Pyg, Mad Hatter, Rupert Thorne, Hush, Harley Quinn, Prometheus, Calendar Man, Lady Shiva, Killer Moth, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Two-Face, Firefly, Bronze Tiger, Anarky, David Cain, Phantasm, the list goes on and on... Have him confront his own personal demons, etc..? Even Reeves isn't interested to craft a fantastical world. He said “In my view, I just feel drawn to finding the grounded version of everything,” said Reeves. “So to me, it would be a challenge in an interesting way to try and figure out how that could happen, even the idea of something like Mr. Freeze, that such a great story, right? I think there’s actually a grounded version of that story, which could be really powerful and could be really great.” He continued, “So, I love the fantastical side of Batman, but this iteration, obviously, while being, to me, I think it is very comics faithful, but I don’t think that this one is necessarily, it doesn’t lean as hard into the fantastical, I guess. But I think to me what would be interesting would be to try and unwind the fantastical and see, well, how could that make sense here? And so that’s kind of my view, how I see it.” So like I said, you already had fantastical Batman plenty of times and you will as well with the new DCU so let Reeves do his thing.

@@Windwalker88 Found this interview from Matt Reeves. While no one has seen the finished film just yet, it’s clear from all the marketing, Matt Reeves’ take on “The Batman” sheds a lot of the silly comic book-y aspects of the character in favor of a realistic, gritty look at what drives a man to dress up as a bat to fight crime. And that’s by design, as the filmmaker is looking to keep this “grounded” with his take on the Caped Crusader, which means that there will have to be big changes, down the line, if he were to use a villain like Mr. Freeze. Speaking to Collider, it’s clear Reeves is only really interested in exploring the more “grounded” parts of Batman and leaving the more ridiculous things to the comic books. “In my view, I just feel drawn to finding the grounded version of everything,” said Reeves. Batman and Roman Sionis have a background together. Their parents both knew each other, but the reason why people are seeing him is because he was in birds of prey with Harley Quinn, which she was wasted, and but he could still be a valuable candidate for this universe because the penguins gonna take over all of Gotham, and the only Batman villains that could rival that are the ventriloquist Scarface and black mask.
@cybrid37
@cybrid37 Год назад
@@goldenhorse4823 This is false. Roman and Bruce were childhood 'friends'. They do have a personal relationship. And the reason Black Mask hates Bruce Wayne (not Batman, mind you) in the comics was because Bruce tried to help Roman by buying out Janus Cosmetics and unknowingly got Roman kicked off from his company by the new Board of Directors. And I also disagree about Roman/Black Mask not being able to challenge Batman in Matt Reeves universe. In case you forget, Bruce Wayne in this universe is a hermit. He isnt a public figure yet in the eyes of Gotham citizens because he was more focused on being Batman. Roman could already be a well-known public figure in Gotham while Bruce is only just getting started with building up his "Bruce Wayne" persona after years of neglecting the public. Think about it. Roman Sionis challenges Bruce Wayne by day, while Black Mask challenges Batman by night. Its kinda perfect imo.

I’ve been saying Scarecrow and Clayface would be the perfect villains for the sequel. Crane could even be the one whom experimented on Clayface: - One looks like a monster but is a tragic victim. Fear wouldn’t cut it, Hope would be needed. - The other looks like a weak human but it is a true monster and masters the tool Batman once relied on. Fear would be useless and there’d be no hope.

I don't think Clayface necessarily has to be super goofy. I agree that the Definitive Article Batman series has potential to explore more supernatural ideas within its tone, and while I think the iconic orange blob probably wouldn't work, a more horrific creature absolutely could. You could have a Clayface who almost always appears on-screen as a person, although able to change exactly which person he looks like at will, meaning you never feel safe as ANYBODY (even Batman or Bruce Wayne, which could be a fun way to catch him), could be Clayface. I'm imagining with the monstrous reveal having something that looks more like the creature from John Carpenter's The Thing would absolutely work as a representation of Clayface within the particular tone they're going for.

I feel like all the batman films we get focuses on the more crime-like villains (Joker, Two-face, Penguin, Riddler) that It'd be a nice change of pace to see a Batman story using the more mythical like villains instead. I think the monster villains can get a bad rep for being a bit cheesy, or not realistic enough for film universes. However I think Clayface, Man-bat, and Killer Croc would make an excellent horror tone for the shows given that they're all horrific creatures that batman has to use his brain to defeat because they're superior in strength

Yes it’s a very grounded setting, but there is absolutely a way they can go down the road of the supernatural in the form of clay face, mr freeze, bane and even the Joker. Clayface is also my choice for The Batman sequel villain, but here’s my pitch for how it’ll go: Now for this pitch, there will be two villains which I’ll say do have a more sci-fi angle, so it probably wouldn’t work. BUT, as stated in your video, test screenings for the first movie stated how the first Reeves movie gave off psychological horror vibes. And since there are some scary and monstrous looking villains, monster=horror. So here’s how it goes: “Recently, on the news, there’s been a line a chains for new beauty/cosmetic products spreading around Gotham. But word has been getting out that there have been murders of many high profiled business people who all are being killed for strange reasons. The people are all linked to Roland Daggett, the business owner of the beauty chains, however no proof is shown that Daggett is behind the murders. But Bruce/Batman is still suspicious that Daggett is still not telling the truth about something. In the meantime, Matt Hagen, a famed actor is just getting off the set of filming and heading back to his room, when it’s revealed that he’s hiding a dark secret when his face while handsome in the films is deformed, due to a car accident, when nobody sees. He has a supply of beauty cream that is made by Daggett's company, where it's reveal that Daggett offered him a lifetime supply of it, in exchange for being a test subject for the cream when being prepared to sell out. The cream which was made by none other than Pamela Isley made from rare plants that have the ability to form into specific shapes. Isley however has other plans, where thru Batman's detective work realizes that it was her who murdered those people through her poisoning the beauty products, specifically lipsticks. Batman begins a mission to find Isley's hideout, where we get some intense scenes when he arrives to investigate her place. But the area is filled with so many plants. Batman just so happens to touch one that it grasps him, to which we get a jump-scare and the plants attack him, causing either Batman to escape or personally meet Isley, who refers herself to Poison Ivy. Ivy's plan is revealed that she's attempting to murder all the people who deal with Daggett, including him, due to the fact that they've been destroying rare nature just to build their corrupt business which leads to Batman realizing that his theory is true about Daggett, being not who he seems. As it turns out, Daggett's business is rid with underground crime, laundering, and fraud. Daggett plans on take over many businesses, one of them being Wayne Enterprises, which Bruce/Batman doesn't realize yet. Daggett needs Hagen to join a gang to take on a hit for one of the businesses, and says if Hagen refuses he'll cut his supply off. So Hagen does so, but the hit attack goes south, and one witness recognizes Hagen, except claims that he looks like Bruce Wayne. With this information, there is a warrant out for Bruce Wayne’s arrest, forcing Bruce as Batman to flee and try to clear his name before things get out of hands. Meanwhile, Daggett has Hagen killed for what he did, as an attempt to avoid half measures. Hagen is presumably killed by being forced to swallow an entirely tank of the beauty cream formula and left for dead, only for his body to turn into clay. Hagen now has become a literal blob who can transform his shape (Imagine a live action version of Tetsuo's mutation (Akira) and Ditto (Pokemon) + the T-1000, but more scary.). Hagen swears revenge on Daggett, but when Poison Ivy hears about him, she decides to cut a deal with him, in which he helps her plan her murder several off the Gotham elites and make her plant growing spree, and she'll give him Daggett to kill. This can lead to a great showdown with some creepy imagery of Hagen (now called Clayface) and Poison Ivy's monstrous plants attacking the public, and an epic showdown with Batman fighting them. Not really too sure on how Bruce fights Ivy and her plants, but he does create special defense mechanisms for his suit in order to avoid her plants getting the best of him. The fight between Bruce and Clayface however becomes really scary as Bruce sees that Hagan can’t fully concentrate whenever he’s mutating (Leading to some imagery that gives off The Thing). But to some up in short, Batman ends up defeating both Clayface and Poison Ivy, but one of them manages to escape (More than likely Clayface), Daggett is arrested for his crimes, and Bruce Wayne’s name is cleared. There will be a mid-credit scene though, with one of the villains on the run. But they happen to meet someone in the shadowy alleyways, who says that he’s been watching them, and offers his hand to them, which is revealed to be covered in bandages.” So there you have it. Basically, this movie can pay homage to 80s monster movies, like The Thing, The Fly and Little Shop of Horrors, mixed with Batman: The Animated Series where I got these stories from. This also sort of gives a more darker take on beauty products, (Though I’m not sure how they’re gonna be able to commercialize that. Like imagine the actress for Poison Ivy saying, “Try the new L’Oréal lipstick, where love can get TOXIC.” or the actor for Clayface advertising for a CHANEL face cream, and the commercial ends saying, “And check out the new Batman movie.”.).

I love all of your ideas presented here. There is definitely a way that they can adapt these characters, and make it good, matching the vibe and style of The Batman while telling something new and unique. I am also IN LOVE with the idea that Harvey doesn't become Two-Face. We haven't seen a lot of what harvey's morality would look like going through the craziness that gotham goes through, because he always transforms so soon. But maybe he stays normal, and just deals with being an attorney, while things on the outside world make him have the mental battle of Two Face. Not to mention that a character like clayface, lends itself great to Harvey's dilemas, and could actually be the Two-Face in the villain sense incapsulating the moral dilemas clayface has in the comics and in the animated series. That's basically a duality and world dilema that matches Harvey's, other than the OCD with 2's.

Interesting, me and some friends actually talked about who we wanted to see as the main villain in the next batman film and I also thought clayface would make for an interesting choice. The reason I want clayface to be the next major villain is because I thought he would be the most interesting in terms of "how would batman fight him". like compared to the rest of batman's rouges and how they fight, he is the most unique. characters like riddler and joker focus more on schemes & henchman to fight, with some hand to hand, bane/ra's al ghoul//deathstroke focus on hand-to-hand combat and technique, and Mr. freeze/poison ivy use science and weaponry to fight. Clayface on the other hand is a living biomass of clay that can shapeshift into any one or any object he needs to be in order to fight/escape. It would honestly be very interesting to see how batman would need to adapt and deal with an entity he wasn't trained to fight (he was taught hand to hand combat but he's facing off against living sludge), it would honestly be very interesting in terms of action

I just thought about something. The discussion of the Bruce stuff... it's left him wide open for getting Hush-ed. Clayface can do anything Hush can do. Riddler is exactly where he'd need to be to pull a Hush. Grant Morrison's writing for Hush: took over Wayne Enterprises while Bruce was dead because he looks just like Bruce. Clayface: can do that. Riddler: is in the proper spot to adapt Hush. Clayface steals Bruce's identity. Harvey starts going after "Bruce Wayne", becoming a threat to Batman while also working as Batman's ally.

YES! Thank god you mentioned Ethan from the Batman! That was my favorite rendition for him, and if anything, I think what they will most likely go for if he shows up in the movie. Obviously, we have that Matt Reeves show coming out that will be about the Batman's rogues, so I hope they introduce the villain to the Batman 2 as a cameo or such, (not doing an MCU thing where you are expected to watch the shows) so that we are familiar with the villain. That way, if they do this, it won't be like the mistake Marvel made with Amazing Spider-Man 2 with Harry Osborn. We all knew Harry was Peter's friend, but me personally, I felt like they sprang him on us too fast. He didn't talk about Harry or anything, they just introduced him to make him a villain. They should have just let him stay Harry for a movie or so just to let us get the idea of him being the Goblin in our heads. Hopefully, The Batman can learn from other movies' mistakes and make something great for the fans. I'm dying to see Batman 2

That Matt Reeves Scarecrow will be a crazy Batman horror film
@buccaneercat
@buccaneercat Год назад
I continue to say it… but I hope Matt Reeves chooses to LEAN into Batman’s supernatural mythos a similar way that Courage the Cowardly Dog did with it’s spooky elements… or more accurately: The way X-Files did with it’s supernatural characters. X-Files was a series seemingly set in a realistic world, yet contained a plethora of supernatural and otherworldly beings. For Matt Reeves to make it work within his world, he shouldn’t openly embrace metahumans… but allude to the unnatural in a vague eerie way. Often, the monsters in X-Files were never fully explained, they just existed among humans. That gives the audience the surreal uncomfortable feeling of *the uncanny* or *the unknown* It would add a deeper horror element to the world, and would open all kinds of new possibilities and stories to tell… limiting your franchise to JUST Batman’s realistic mythos immediately stunt’s the ability to tell a new refreshing story. It’s not that Matt Reeves can’t tell a new realistic story, I trust his ability fully. But to ignore 80% of Batman’s mythos is to ignore 80% of the character arcs and storytelling that made Batman so iconic.

'The Batman' had enough of a horror feel that developing it further in a sequel could be done in a way that feels like a natural progression. Villains like Clayface could work well if treated the way you mentioned, with more of a disturbing horror bent like the X-Files as you've said.

If I'm writing next Batman movie by using Clayface as an antagonist, here's how I would do... Basil Karlo (the Golden Age/first Clayface) was a high profile and talented actor who famously known for being "the man with thousand faces" from his outstanding performance through method actings, he's the man of dedication who went through multiple surgeries for his new role, more each and each character he plays... Karlo starting to growing an inability to separate himself out the role and adopting the personality of the characters he plays, which includes the monster that he plays in his latest movie "Clayface"

the original ''clayface'' is by far the worst version.

I think the first thing I thought of when I heard that clay face would be in Matt Reeve’s Batman was that scene in the animated series where clay face is in that room full of televisions trying to assume a form but failing and kind of switching between identities.

The universe of The Batman is too realistic, Calendar Man as a serial killer works better.

I would LOVE Man-Bat to be a villain, or killer croc. For more grounded villains, I think Professor Pyg fits PERFECTLY in the reeves universe.

I’d love to see a scene where Batman gets freeze grenades after studying freeze’s technology and uses them desperately against an approaching clay face as he shatters and reforms.

Clayface would be so dope! Honestly though I don't really care which villain(s) Matt Reeves chooses because I know it's gonna be freaking awesome

How about the ventriloquist and Scarface? It’s another form of mind game just like the riddler in the first movie. Plus you grant Morrison quote was perfect for this topic.

That billionaire take was hilarious cause of how true it is but no one’s ever really done a scarecrow justice imo but many villains fall to this as they always fall back to old cliches of their villain trope I’d love to see a clay face in plain sight acting in the open, I’ve never seen Batman as realistic imo, villains get locked for a few months and they’re out slaughtering again
