It's got everything you need & maybe a bit more. Nicknamed “Cobby Bob”
After an Australian Bushman we met during an outback trip to Old Andado Station, Australia - This is the vehicle, I bought it from him, empty, bad motor, and needing refreshed, but overall great looking, really unique truck It was equipped as listed, had original “Roberts Lockers” Pre-ARB taking rights, cool. No compressor etc. Wanted to keep it in somewhat original state but with some modifications for reliability, drivability and offroad ability.
Engine:
Engine Swap done by Torfab: Later Model Toyota Turbo Diesel, 1HD-FT 4.2L I-6 Direct Injected, All new belts, Hoses, starter, accessories, etc (The 1HD-FT is a 4.2 L (4164 cc) straight-6 24 valve DOHC turbocharged diesel engine of direct injection design. Bore is 94 mm and stroke is 100 mm, with a compression ratio of 18.6:1. Known as the "multivalve" it has 4 valves per cylinder (2 inlet, 2 exhaust), central vertically mounted injector, and no glow plugs but rather an intake glow screen heater (like the later electronic 1HD-FTE below). The 4 valves per cylinder are actuated by the DOHC, by using bridges so each rocker actuates a pair of valves. Output is 168 hp (125 kW) ECE at 3600 rpm with 380 N·m (280 ft-lb) of torque ECE at 2500 rpm. Originally equipped in Toyota Coaster Bus HDB50 1995/07-1999/07 Landcruiser HDJ80 1995/07-1999/07

I enjoyed your walk around. Good to see how people in the US are getting their kicks from a traditionally Aussie vehicle. Don't worry about the indicators and the windscreen washer being opposite on your steering column. It is the same here in Australia. They are opposite for us too! After 35yrs of driving my cruiser, I still get it wrong on occasion because I also drive a subaru as my daily drive. The old 2H engine needed changing on mine at around 550,000ks. So I got a 1HT out of a later model Toyota Sahara so it came with a turbo in the first place. Mine is a 1988 HJ75 cab chassis with an alloy tray. The bodywork on mine is in very good condition because I have put it through a rebuild every 15yrs on its birthday. I don't do that much 4x4 anymore as I'm getting a bit long in the tooth now, but soon it will be towing a reasonably sized caravan pretty much full time. I always hoped Toyota would get their act together and create a similar machine for the USA market. People over there seem to be screaming for a genuine 4x4 vehicle of solid construction like the landcruiser. But so far no deal. The landcruiser seems to be uniquely Aussie and African.

I'm in Western Australia & where I am we have a Mediterranean climate but cold winter mornings so i was really impressed withose heated seats thats a great luxury.i envy. Looks like big bucks though. Many people here have rear bar set ups where the spare tyres are mounted on a swivel arm so the weight of the tyre is not suspended of the door. Nice job

Trakka are still going in Australia converting VW Transporters and Iveco Campervan. Mines a 1991 VW T3 with the poptop. They aren't making fibreglass tops for the 70 series any more though. Pity.

Great vehicle, what I've been looking for. And I live right near cashmere to boot. Love that it can be serviced Torfab as they have done a lot of the main components. 🤔 Now to sell my Land cruiser and come up with 50K 😬

nice walk around mate, we see heaps of these here in Oz but not quite the age of your rig, you've done a nice job of bringing the old girl back to life and then some.....! Once you have tasted Troopy life you never go back - spread the word and maybe just maybe Toyota will see the light and give you guys some, the late mod with turbo V8 is very popular with quite a few Auzzie's building pop top campers out of them and doing a lap around the block (lap of Australia). cheers

All that work and no LHD conversion? They already had the entire thing apart! I'd still rock it though. 😉

Why can’t Toyota come out with something this good? The new Toyota trucks suck in comparison, incredible build for overlanding.

they still do sell the new but unfortunately it's the US that don't allow them until they are 25 years old 😕
