I was Finally able to put together a video to officially show RU-vid my 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ. This Jeep embodies my ambition to create an XJ that could roll off the assembly line in the present day. This Cherokee has most of my favorite custom 1 off XJ mods that I have developed over a decade time of owning Cherokees. Hope you enjoy!

Tomowenazin because they’re worth it. You can find them rebuilt and ready to install for less than 1k if you need one. They’re plentiful like a GM 350 but actually last once installed.

Mine blew up at 152k. Shot at least 2 rods and had 3 holes in the block and 2 in the oil pan. I'm assuming the owner before me didnt take good care of the motor, but I put in a high output engine with 120k miles and it runs beautifully.

The ideas here are great, as a Jeep owner for the last 23 years, I can appreciate the custom work that can be done to XJ, WK, and ZJ Jeeps which are very cheap to buy in the UK and maintain if you pick the right ones that have not been abused too much. I run a WK 5.7 HEMI on LPG which gives me the same running costs as a small car.

Nice XJ, but sorry to tell you the 2000-2001 XJ's have the faulty 0331 cylinder head that was known for overheating and catastrophic failure. That said, best years were definitely 1998-1999. Those years still had the newer styling with best suspension, gearing, and the reliability XJ's were known for. My personal favorite is the 1999 XJ 2DR 5SPD.
@ProjectDanH

Hell yes brother! Great choice! I'll be ok with a TUPY head!

@comancheclub3449
@comancheclub3449 5 лет назад
TUPY? 7120 is the best stock head AFAIK. The eldebrock is better, but that's serious money.
@ProjectDanH
@ProjectDanH 5 лет назад
@@comancheclub3449 7120 does not directly bolt on to the 2000 and 2001. The 0331 has different exhaust ports and mounts for the coil packs. In 2002-2004 TJs and WJs got a better version of the 0331 made by a foundry in Brazil. This improved 0331 was stamped TUPY right under the oil cap. They're considered the best and easiest solution to the crappy 0331
@comancheclub3449
@comancheclub3449 5 лет назад
@@ProjectDanH Really? I did not know this. I was under the impression that all 4.0 heads were compatible with all 4.0 blocks.
@ProjectDanH
@ProjectDanH 5 лет назад
@@comancheclub3449 I can use a 7120, I'd just have to mod the ports a bit and machine the coil pack mounts.

Wow! I'm thoroughly impressed by the work you did to your XJ. I've owned 3 and I'm working on a 2000 limited now. I can only hope to get the undercarriage looking as good. Mine is an offroad/adventure build but I respect what your doing as well because you put such quality work into it. Nice job.
@ProjectDanH
@ProjectDanH 5 лет назад
Thank you so much! A southern rust free undercarriage will get you a lot further and faster than a rusty clunker like mine. lol. I hope to have a running off road XJ by the end of the summer! Thanks for watching!
