One Day was a beautiful study of two individuals, first and foremost seeing them as characters in their own right and then as two halves of a whole. The slow burn approach works because of this, making them independent and compelling enough as separate stories before reconciling them for their inevitable coming together.
Though I think the show squanders their eventual union in a slightly rushed and flat way, the performances are exceptional and the relationship honest enough to keep you hooked.
