I don't know about you, but the ranged hunter of phase 3 has been infinitely more fun than any previous hunter iteration and, as an added bonus, we actually somewhat pump.

That being said, i’m fairly new at the game and have a question, am playing MM. In the raid yesterday I was put into the range group(melee didn’t want to lost wild strikes) and I felt like my trueshot is being wasted when I’m the only one benefiting from it, would that be a scenario where I should spec into BM

@@jessibrito9959 Thanks, friend! Yep, if absolutely no one in the group gets benefit from your trueshot aura, then BM is slightly better. That being said, it's a super small difference, but there's nothing wrong with swapping over if you have no other use for dual spec.

This is almost exactly been my thought process about ranged this season! Glad to see my thoughts corroborated. A little note here -- hearing whispers that Windserpent might actually be BIS for pets? Do you have any good resources breaking down each pet? I'd love to take a gander.

WS is best for melee, but is not good at all due to the interaction with Focus Fire. About a 100dps decrease in the sims, and that’s with all magic debuffs active.

Meanwhile corehound in ST = best crists nearly 1,8k on most bosses and easily outdamages (atleast did last reset) any other pet, might want to sim less and play more :

Thanks, friend! Pretty much just Rank 7 Claw and Dash (even dash some people argue against, but I'm all for higher uptime even if it costs some energy). Full nature resistance and stamina for the raid, but if you pvp with a pet it's nice to have arcane and frost resistance as well.

Cheers bud! They are down at the southwestern corner of the shimmering flats in Thousand Needles. They are immune to magic, so would be just to practice rotation and WAs like you said :D

Hi! I have a pretty important question for ranged hunters - At what point does Agility become better than 1% crit with all attacks & spells? (as in STV cloak for example) Would you rather have a cloak with 12 agi, or a cloak that gives 1% crit with all attacks & spells?

If there is more than one target does, multi shot get prio from lock and loads? And is there any point in the raid where you should have a second set of gloves to switch to explosive shot?

Yep, multi shot takes prio on 3+ targets. And absolutely, having a second pair of gloves for explosive trap is not a bad idea if you want to pump a bit extra during trash. I mostly afk and let my guild take care of it (that's a joke for legal reasons).

for ranged mm hunter it is a no, because u need a pet with claw to stack focus fire, otherwise youll never get 5 stacks

Yeah it's a no-go for ranged. Decent for AOE, but since we can't swap pet between pulls, there won't be any use-case for us.

Neither! Putting out a bis video tomorrow, but Sentinel’s Blade and Ribsplitter of Agility, but the Mara sword is a decent option too.

Curious whats the difference between a 2.0 atk speed cat and 1.0 aside from pvp for pushback and your tank using gift of arthas, if he isnt is there any reason not to have a 2.0 atk speed cat

Absolutely-- 1.3 attack speed, which is slightly worse than Brokentooth, but unless your tank is using Gift of Arthas (which very few are) the speed makes no difference to your dps.

I ran a sim to see difference in dps between Mara swords vs Vanquisher x Sentinel Blade, but it showed that the swords did worse. Did I fuck it up?

Those combos are simming about the same, but 1x sentinel's blade and 1x mara sword is the way to go if you don't want BOEs

Significant dps decrease at the moment-- chimera shot is just too strong, even for beast master hunters.

Fastest way is probably to solo grind ZF zombies with the pet active, but the easiest way is prob to leech in dungeon groups while farming your pre-bis, hehe.

Less overall chimera shots, fine if you need burst for a specific purpose, but not as a standard rotation.

You don't have to have any points in beast mastery / the talent frenzy to utilize the focus fire rune. It is entirely separate. You use it because nearly 100% uptime 15% ranged haste with a non zero amount of extra pet attack speed is really good, but also the only other runes on wrist do not compete when it comes to single target. For mass aoe TnT can be better, although eranikus was the only use case and that was pre-nerf now it's no longer the case, and the other rune is for melee hunter.

Inventor's Focal Sword is still better than Vanq, so worry not! You can always item restore, but I wouldn't worry about it.

Immolation trap is still more damage on single target, but yes, even if it was better damage, the mana cost is just too high to be justifiable.

No idea- the weakaura doesn’t have any other addon dependencies. Does it import off-screen maybe?

after 20 minutes i finally found the solution. you are probably not playing with the english client. Open the Focus Fire Grp and search for "Spell Selection Filters" for Frenzy Stacks and Focus Fire and change it to the name of the spell in your client. this worked for me with the german client. Author used the english spell names instead of the spell IDs

It’s called WeakAuras, and then you need to import a string into the addon for it to work. I have linked in the description where you can import it.

Less damage on single target, even if you crit a decent amount, plus it has more than double the mana cost. On 3+ targets explo is worth it IMO.

You have to train other pets with the claw or bite rank you want icy veins or petopia will tell you what pets/mobs do what bite or claw rank

Put your current pet in the stable, head out to Feralas/felwood and tame a bear. Engage it in combat until you get a message that you've learned rank 7 of claw, abandon it, then you can teach it to your pet when you take him out of the stable.

we only have focus fire on our bracers, which causes us deal more dmg and also pet deal more dmg. On my raid, my pet did 20-25% of my dmg as MM, so if 100% of my dps is 80% from myself + 20% from pet, then lonewolf is only 80% * 30% = 24 % and your total dmg would be ~104% minus the buff from focus fire. In the end, running lonewolf would actually be a dps loss or very close being the same, but you could literally run 5% crit instead if u wanted to

Yep! We don't learn bite as it has a higher energy cost and we want to use as many energy spending abilities as possible (that being claw).

Frenzy stacks only come off basic pet attacks meaning claw, bite, lightning breath, etc… Not auto attacks. Claw is good for keeping it stacked and also benefits more from gift of arthas debuff on boss

It's pretty useless, but there are no other alternatives. It adds like 3-4 dps over 4/5 in arcane shot. Almost worth just going Hawk Eye at this point.

Hunters are made for range, not that bs meele build. They have to defend themselves with meele and immobilize the enemy buts its not their main abilities. Always range!
