This video helped me understand 2 things, the first is, Cata was pretty cool as someone that started in Dragonflight, second, there is no way anyone would ever want to play Classic Cataclysm lmao the whole thing took me 2 days on Retail, explore everything, all 5 zones questlines, Tol barad, 14 dungeons and 6 raids in max difficulty, all battle pets collected, no interesting mount, reputations and professions maxed, man compared to Shadowlands or Dragonflight these back in the day sure were empty content wise
As a main prot warr having a hard time to get into raids for been the worst tanking spec this is a great guide to understanding how to fully use all my abilities to give a 100% of me to my raid team. You have awesome content
It’s rough out there for the prot warrior! Partly justified due to block tank tuning, but mostly blown out of proportion. They have a really strong toolkit for a lot of fights in t11 and can definitely fill the off tank role for any raiding team, casual or not. Glad you’re enjoying it, means a lot!
Damn fun to play! They are not as good as the feral Druid in the off-tanking role overall, but has some niche fights where they are really strong (like nef). Defensively they are about as strong as the prot paladin but slightly stronger offensively while not tanking due to the vigilance rework and freely being able to stance dance and execute. I wouldn’t say they are doomed, but wouldn’t bring one as a main tank for progression ☺️
If you end up being the add tank as DK and have any problems gathering them up this is a great spot to use the DRW glyph for an extra +50% threat to make sure they are solidly locked onto you.
The reason Haste>Mastery (up to 1450) is the amount of Death Strikes I do far exceeds the paltry ~30% increased bubble from going for Straight Mastery would give me. It's easy to overlook, but the base heal and the bubble both only apply when you Death Strike, since I Death Strike more liberally and freely, I'm getting more self sustained healing out. Because of the rapidity of reload on the Runes, I'm also able to just unleash hell in all of my offensive maneuvers, too. I don't have to keep anything in the tank(other than defensives of course) because the Runes are always a few seconds off from being Up again. Blood DK is not your standard tank, Blood DK requires a focus on OFFENSIVE capabilities to maximize Defensive. The harder we slam you, the harder we self heal. (I know Damage doesn't scale Healing, I'm saying I death strike MORE than you do, you'd need Firelands tier Mastery scaling to outpace me with this spec.)(And by then I'll have access to the same pieces meaning my itemization will be even MORE fluid than it currently is.)
3:15 I strongly disagree with this while threat may not be an issue for dps it is still an issue for tanks who have to taunt swap bosses. If you taunt the boss and your next move whiffs you will easily lose aggro back on to the Blood DK or Bear tank who are absolute threat pumpers. To ignore Hit cap and soft expertise cap is unwise and bad advice for Prot Wars.
You won't be able to reach hit + expertise cap focusing on stamina while also being CTC capped when shield block is up (until you have a ton of heroic gear). I've never had any issues grabbing threat from the tank while clearing 13/13 hc on 25 man without being hit and expertise capped. But I don't think completely disregarding it like some people recommend is the play either. Hence my disclaimer in the portion of the video that you linked.
I’m just glad there are raid leaders out there who ignore the silly elitism perpetuated by these tier lists and actually give holy priests a chance to shine - and not as the 5th/6th flex healer (or 3rd in 10m). They do shine more in the raid healing department, but are perfectly capable of switching chakras to single target heal given how predictable raid bosses are. Guardian Spirit can be a tank lifesaver, and granting speed boosts from shields has uses on a few HC bosses (especially to kiters), which often goes unrecognised. They really are the unappreciated underdog healers of cata.
I absolutely think they're a solid pick and pretty much fill the same role as the rdruid. B doesn't mean bad, just means they aren't a insta-lock option for the raid comp unlike some healers out there.
Do you have any video about when to use defensive cooldowns in dungeons or raids? I just started tanking and I feel like Ive never pressed any defensive cooldowns😭. Maybe I need to know the instances better to preview the big dam. It is really hard to
I don't at the moment, but perhaps something I'll make for the raid tier. I think it simply comes down to learning timings and don't be afraid to use things like bone shield and vampiric blood pretty much off cooldown, even if there's no big tank damage incoming.
Cataclysm was in my opinion the beginning of the end for wow. However I do think it did a lot of things right. I always liked (and enjoyed playing through again) the redesigned leveling zones.
As a healer, I could care less how much you can heal or damage that you can deal, first be good at surviving then do all that. Healing tank damage is easy this expansion.
I feel like your opinion lost all its weight when you started talking about raiding because you came off kinda clueless. Randomly saying 10 man logs are meaningless with 0 justification just comes off as you upset you cant parse as well in 10 mans (at least based on how your parses are worse in 10 man from the video). Also as someone who raids 10 and 25 man the argument of 25 man drops more loot so it feels like the correct way to raid is wild. I would say right now 25 man feels more rewarding with loot but that would mean maybe 10 man loot should be adjusted to be on equal scale not just saying 25 man is the correct way to play.
Im just quoting him, he literally says that proportionally 25 man gives more loot, which is true its 2.5x the players for 3x the loot. Personally I don't think the claim that organizing a larger raid size is a good justification for the loot imbalance since most mechanics are easier on 25 man, as you have more raid CDS and a lot of the mechanics do the same amount of damage.
Meaningless was perhaps the wrong word choice; like I said in the beginning, this is seen from the perspective of a high-end raider, so since the default all-star rankings on wclogs are 25 man combined with the inability to parse in 10m if you don't have a perfect comp, just means it's a less valuable metric in my opinion (which is ultimately what this video is, just my opinion).
Over half my guild quit and most others are falling apart. The raid hardmodes are way way way too much. If i wanted something like this id go play retail. Raiding is dead to me. As a healer in wotlk i felt like if i played right i could carry any raid, but now i feel like im using a wet noodle.
Streamers / RU-vidrs who are in these hardcore Guilds that clear all raid content in the first couple weeks by optimizing the ever living fuck out the game and then complain about the fact are just something else.
Whether I clear the raid week 1 or week 6 doesn't make a difference in the arguments I'm making. I love raiding and reclearing still, I'm just advocating for progression content outside of the raids so we have something to do when we're not raiding.
Lmao man I can’t take you seriously after the “10M is meaningless”. So is 25man then. 10 man is way more punishing than 25 man, I’d say 25 is easier in many points. Showered in gear and CDs, as well with CRs, it’s a joke.
@@Holylightt99i disagree. Theres bosses that are harder on 10 and some that are harder on 25. Dont get butthurt because a relatively small youtuber (compared to lets say scotte or willE) has a certain opinion
Too simple and easy. Cleared 7/13 hc week 1. First Time Cata. Damn boring and underwhelming. Everone talked about how hard it will be and how many weeks we will need to clear 4 or more hcs... Have seen every hc and now i will wait for firelands.
You are playing with 4.3 talents and a slightly nerfed version of the raids. What do you expect? Fight are not even half as long as they were back in the day.
I like the heroics. Sure, with solid gear you can clear in 12m for some of them but there are still baddies out there pushing out 6K-8k DPS and carrying them doesn’t feel great. It would be nice to have a harder tier for heroics even if it only awarded gold or a travelers satchel or something just because guild groups or even some pugs just smash through it
I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t play original cata, but I’m having fun. My guild is slowly but surely progging heroics. We do 25m. Still my only gripe for the xpac is arch. I enjoy playing alts and worked extremely hard to get those weapons because of it. The system should have been tinkered with before release.
I've played about 150 hours, have 3 level 85s and my guild is 11/13h. I'll say that the raiding experience has been awesome, and I definitely enjoy the heroics not requiring CC. The difficulty is set for normal people, not for people who are playing more than a full time job, which is better than any other expansions difficulty IMO.
It's starting to tear my 10man group apart. There are several people who have gone several weeks without a single piece of loot, some getting maybe 1-2. We have seen 2 Vanquisher tier tokens drop. People are demotivated and just don't wanna play anymore. There's no reason trying to shoehorn people into 25man with promises of more loot anymore.
@@albeshino8875 its 2 on 10 and 6 on 25, but the difference is that with more people, you will have much less wasted loot where on 10 man you can easily have a lot of items drop that nobody in the team can even equip for their main spec.
@@mekz22 I played 10M during OG cata and totally felt this way, with classic I went 25M and having far more fun I think the best way to fix this was to make 2 lock outs per week. If you want two 10M lock outs one Heroic one normal or one 25M Normal and one 10M H/N Let players play imo, WotLK with two locks made pugging on your main or finding grps more fun
I had a good time farming my pre-bis but got a tad burnt out and quit before the raids. I think I’ll come back for 4.1 because I love running 5-mans for upgrades.
That's too bad, especially since my guild cleared all raids week one with an average ilvl of 334. No one was full pre BiS, we just said Fk it, let's rock and roll 😂 Now we're at 10/13 heroic progression
If you went Leather working, which bracer enchant would you go with? the 130 agility or 195 stamina? or maybe depends of how much gear you have in general? just want to be assured on what is smarter
What a great video ! I am still not sure if my healers will like if I switch to haste, but let´s see :D May I ask 2 questions about the boss tips you gave? Maloriak: Do I need to use AMS before he spreads the debuff or can I use it, after I received it and it will cancel the debuff? And if before: when is the best timing, does he cast it? I have never seen that tbh. Chimareon: So I will just make sure to safe runes for 1 DS to use when he is using his double hit, correct? Normally it always should be a 10k shield if I am not wrong. And does the "Break" Debuff go away during the Feud phase? Or will I end the boss fight which a ton of these debuffs? I assume that this will make it impossible to heal me over 10k, does it? Thanks a lot (also for all the other guides) - it helps me as we new BDK a lot !!!
Thanks, bud! Haste doesn't necessarily make you take more damage unless you make big sacrifices to get that haste, so I'd give it a go and see how it feels. You can't AMS after the buff goes out as it only prevents application. You use it right before he does his knockback, but as long as you run with glyph of AMS you have a ton of leeway. And yes, just make sure you have the runes for a DS during double attack. You'll always have at least a 10k shield unless you have like literally no mastery. The Break stacks don't drop, but they cap at 4. You can survive quite long even with 4 stacks since the last phase you'll have literally all your cooldowns, but even so the off-tank will usually start tanking as you tend to push phase 2 from a feud phase.
There's no real "cap," but a number that a lot of people strive for is 1421 as it gives you 7.5 sec rune speed which lines up nicely with your global CDs.
@@Riyaniwow This is only partly accurate; there is a cap. Diminsihing returns exists and given current ilevel restraints 1400 should be roughly aimed at, 7.5 is the magic number, but being a little above or below it hardly impacts gameplay at all. Hit to Cap > Expertise to Soft Cap> Haste to 1400> Mastery=Stam> Everything else, even subsequent haste stacking.
Hi Riyani thanks for this vid. Got one question on chimaron dk solo tank. Under the buff, dk can’t die with more than 10k shield I get that. But without the buff, how should I deal with the damage under 4 breaks. I could use all the cd and externals but what if they ran out? And then rng?
Hey bud-- the tank that tanks during the feud phase will also be the one with aggro going into the last phase, so he'll have fewer stacks. Before he dies you'll be able to stack up a full blood shield. Then just pop your CDs once you're tanking and hope the boss dies before you do.
I switched my gear to haste today for my raid i was a bit resilent about it because we were getting clapped with nef/ chog prog , but not only i felt my rotation smother it also increase my dmg and healing overall its a high risk high reward trade but for sure worth it.note if i fuck up one run i was punished really hard too
