Those who are killed are actually the ones who fought back to the police and refused. Often times they are caught through buy-bust operations. Edit: "They were not ordered to shoot civilians. Their duty is to keep civilians away from the harm of the ones who do illegal drugs."
Yeah not going to work out very well, duterte is able to do this because of how unorganized the criminal element is in that country. The Filipino criminal element is nothing compared to Mexican drug cartels that have deep ties to almost every presidential administration and state wide government, not to mention how deep of chokehold they have on local police in almost every jurisdiction. Vast portions of the Mexican army are also in their pocket, once corruption becomes embedded like that in societies main institutions it’s almost impossible for a singular leader or political party to weed it out. Plus the drug cartels have a steady supply of resources to rely on to keep funding corruption and arming themselves to the teeth, duterte is going after low level street dealers and maybe some higher level members of small time drug operations.

She lives in Agdao market, Davao city where Duterte was Mayor. Her son that got killed was a minor who was accused of raping a 2 year old child and killed her. A minor who was an addict of SHABU, warned repeatedly by authorities not to do such crime anymore and was placed under the watch of the Department of Social and Welfare Development since he was still a minor. In spite of that, the minor kept on doing what he was warned not to do.

While I support the hard stance on crimes, I feel that the eradication should be more surgical, going after big targets and involving special squads for this purpose rather than opening it up for everyone to be vigilantes. There is always a danger of abuse where innocent people may be killed from wrongful accusation. I wish Phillippines achieve success on this war and to minimise collateral damages.

Ive been watching forensic files csi soco etc , mostly all of them related to drugs, the normal thinking of a person is not normal, even a son killed her own mother , (the mother didnt give his teenage son money cause he knows his been doing drugs) tsk. his vision went black then killed his own mother. Tsk2 people may get rehab and bounce back to do drugs. It may be lack of discipline . Everyone has prpblems in life drugs aint the solution! (It will make the problems worst)

I disagree, but empathize. There are criminal figures here who I feel the same way about, but are protected by the system from people like me. However when their thugs have assaulted me, the police wouldn't even take a report. Here in America, one way around it is to keep urban neighborhoods clean. Believe it or not, this reduces crime considerably without crackdowns or severe changes in laws, other than an indoor smoking ban. I don't know how well it would work in other countries, though.

Compare the deaths of innocent people or the victims of the drug addicts from the past until now and the number of deaths of drug addicts today. The difference is very high. Drugs is the number one reason here why we have crimes. Duterte is creating a safer country for the next generation and to achieve this he needs to act now with efficiency and haste.
