The Philippines has the 2nd most EXPENSIVE electricity rates in Asia, second to Japan, we are NOT competitive enough, that's why many investors are SNUBBING the Philippines, second is the RESTRICTIVE Foreign Direct Investments which put a CAP on Foreign participation to 40% only, this restriction FAVORS the Oligarchs, LESS jobs equal to very HIGH unemployment.
57% of Philippines electrical energy comes from coal. The price of coal was $163 on January 03 this year and $404 today then 404/163=2.5 times the price at the beginning of this year. Ouch! The cost of war against fossil fuels or the cost of war in Ukraine, somebody in the Philippines is paying for war.
Largest investor into Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia has mostly been Singapore. Crazy how a small little city state is controlling the strings around Asean. Haha!
Singapore is just a front runner because their status as tax heaven country. Their money actually came from around the world, china, japan, usa, eu, etc...
The Philippines is made of about 7000 islands, they have more coast than any nation. You would think they would develop the world's most advanced hydro power stations.
no, the problem is from the private owners who in-fact owners controls some parts of government itself, plus inside jobs who cheats almost all the electric meters to have some cuts in their bills, (believe it or not I know how to do this and most part of manila is doing it, I mean have you seen the lines that fvkcing company left just to have their business with people?) meralco or other doesnt care, because they know that the problem can be solved easily by evening out the sums to all its customers, thats why everybody suffers. what they are doing is charging everyone a high price to make up for all the lost or stolen electricity in their company. they think it's okay to charge everyone for lack of discipline, being corrupt, or being careless and indifferent to their own customers
i hope the renewable sources of energy like new water dams, wind mills, and geothermal plants can help with the electricity production. if the nuclear powerplant is operational, it can also help there
@@bookerdewitt3854 Still better? In what way, ogag? Look at the sugar smuggling happening, the unresolved Teves murder case, the president who always flies around the world but never in the country to resolve domestic issues like hiking electricity rates, farmed smuggled goods, lacking mass transit infrastructures, and more. We are back with Arroyo corruption style administration where all the cronies are as incompetent as they are corrupt.
@@richardunica3542 Sold what? How come Marcos didn’t buy them back or even propose nuclear energy? All he cared about is cha-cha to extend his term as president.
