Ive travelled to many, many countries, im from the U.K, and the best place for me is the Philippines! From Mindanao to Luzon, Palawan to Bicol, its beautiful. Asawa ko ay Filipina po. Mabuhay
yeah you're right but not so much to hookup but to find a someone to spend the rest of their lives with and i don't blame them. the ones ive met are much different to western women, they're more lady like, modest, friendly, family orientated and of course lots are good looking. of course theres gonna be gold diggers who want a green card ect but overall they're just much nicer people both men and women.
But the change in the Philippines was tilted massively to the past 3 decades, as before that it was not much different than it had been for a century with most people living in grass huts with no electricity. I remember in 1991, there was no electricity on the entire island of Siquijor and not a single hotel in Dumaguete. Since I left in 2020, they double laned most of the major roads throughout Mindanao. I was shocked on my return visit this past Feb 2024. The most significant change came to the Philippines when the mobile phone and Internet arrived towards the end of the 21st century. I was living in the Philippines for most of the years from 1990 to 2020. In the first years, I had to wire a telegram to communicate with someone far away. And the people were much more curious and less aware of goings on elsewhere in the world. Also people were much more talkative in the street, because they were not social on their phones. Of course the development has been massive in terms of physical infrastructure. That photo you showed of Cebu IT Park from 2000 reminds me when I used to lay down in those empty grass fields. But I was first in Cebu in the early 1990s and had a very rural feel, Cebu IT Park did not even exist.
I first traveled to the 🇵🇭 in the mid eighties things of course were a lot different then also a lot cheaper. I just spent a few months there from October through the first week of January. I’ve travel to a many countries on 6 continents and I’ll still choose the 🇵🇭 over them all. You just can’t be the hospitable people, their friendliness and kindness by far is the best I’ve experienced in the world. Thanks for sharing your content I always enjoy viewing it. ✌🏾
The only thing good about philippines is the 3 year visa. Not the spousal visas this is a mistake. Don't know why anyone goes to phils anymore. Prices are worse, traffic, internet phones nothing works. Rent per square foot all foods price suck. Products fall apart after purchase because china is sending D grade to phils. Cant work in phils thats a hard fact the BI has special chase teams for those who do. Dogs everywhere full of rabies. I could go on all day. Kids die of simple illnesses like dengue then the neighbours ask for the money for the vaccine because the LGU corrupted it and theres nothing to save their childs like. Skip this hole and go to thailand
IF YOU ARE OLD MAN AND NO ONE TAKING CARE FOR YOU GO TO THE PHILIPPINES HERE EVEN YOU ARE OLD THEY DONT LEAVE YOU JUST BE KIND AND SUPPORT EVEN A LITTLE AND YOU CAN LIVE YOUR LIFE PEACEFUL AND HAPPY
Basically give money to a woman and support her and her family in exchange for sex and marriage so you can do a you girl whenever you want. Sounds like hey old perverts give is money and we love you long time
That's Ayala, nice. I haven't been there in 5 years but I love Cebu. I really miss me some pork sisig, it's making y mouth water just thinking about it. My wife is back visiting now. She says the inflation is crazy and that everything is so much more expensive now.
I will tell you a secret. I prefer to live where no foreigner lives. No people to get drunk and mess up the attitude people have towards me. Most foreigner can not live on dinagat island, nothing here, no McDonald's or malls, nothing here at all. Thats what makes it nice. 🙃
Philippines is getting expensive just like America and Europe. The food and services are still way cheaper than other countries but you have to remember that Filipinos are naturally friendly, approachable folks. They enjoy talking, socializing and having a good time. We hardly talk about negative things about family, government or news. We just wanna go shopping, sightseeing, eating out and be happy all the time
@@PaulMcB873 Filipinos wil invite you over to eat if you are hungry. They are use to being poor for centuries. They go to church religiously and follow the schedule fiestas around town. They are singers, dancers, boxers, beauty queens and top chefs to name a few. Family oriented, great in school and hardworking people. Go this summer and see what I’m talking about

Just came back from the Philippines (California based). I would like to live in the Philippines later on, God willing. The culture is much different. People are so respectful, courteous, kind...as an American, we tip all the time. I actually like to tip, but tipping in the Philippines is not a norm, so it's pretty great to see their reaction when you tip. The workers are so grateful. It's the complete opposite of the US for the most part. I love the US, but I love beautiful beaches, and the Philippines has them -- a lot of them.
If you live it then stop bringing Western culture with you.. I never understand why people don't understand that is not a good thing to do.. if you like the culture then adapt to it..
Great responses Alex. I've been living here since 2009 and have noticed the traffic of course, but the main thing is the amount of foreigners that are here now is way more than back then. All the condo's going up too is very noticeable and I find that the bar scene is pretty boring these days, it was way better in the old days.
I do agree the nightlife nowadays is became boring, you know why? because of the social media ☺️ most people nowadays are busy with internet, some are gamers ang some are making money in internet 🤔
@@wanderlustasia Actually a lot of the bars have moved out of Mango. They are now popping out in different locations. Like for example, we have the ICON in F.Cabahug; Club Tipsy in Mandaue; La Plage, also in Mandaue; APEX Super Club near Parkmall, there's a few near that area too in Parkmall. Things have changed now, young people nowadays think that Mango is no longer hip as it once was, and to themm it's probably for the older generation. There's even one in 8th Avenue near IT Park. There's quite a lot of new places, but they are no longer in one area. You'll just have to ask the locals, especially the younger generations.
What has changed in the Philippines since my first time there in 2017? Since the Covid times the frequency and the sophistication of the scammers has increased exponentially. Everyone suffered and everyone is living in greater poverty, so the incentive to separate Western men from their money is even more urgent.
If it is a scam, always remember not to give money to people you do not know. If people are saying you should invest in a quick rich scheme - please say no. This happens not only in the Philippines but all over the world. And some scammers in the Philippines are not even filipino. I talked to some on the phone and I knew exactly their nationalities since I used to work as a CSR. Some of them pay Filipino to scam.
Scammers played a horrindous dirty tricks specially when it deals to cash the point is when great inflation strike to a country the citizens that don't have enough source of income will surely embraced such act of crime. Nevertheless scenario like this can't only found in the Philippines but also in other countries.
Hey Alex nice overview I would agree that things are changing as technology continues to infiltrate the various business entities but I also see some apprehension concerning technology in terms of reducing employment opportunities in some sectors mostly retail which obviously plays a large role in the economy.
Interesting to hear foreigners' perspectives on the changes in the Philippines. Street interviews add authenticity. Change can bring challenges but also new opportunities.
It’s always been safe with the exception of one little area in Mindanao. Just misinformation from media outlets, which discouraged a lot of foreigners from visiting and investing in the Philippines. The truth will always come out.
My first trip was march 08. Dumaguette was the second town i came to. Way more ex pats there now. It takes me a bit to relax and get in the pinoy groove, they're super easy going sweet ppl. Canada is way better organized as its pretty much mayhem in the Philippines but everything else is way better in the Phils. Hope to retire there in a few more years.
I have lived here since 2013 (first visit was US Navy, 1992). I could complain about prices going up, but the favorable exchange rate has helped so much that it really counters inflation. I was getting 42:1 on the dollar, now 56:1. That is a good increase. People here are nice and friendly. Rents are super cheap. Food is getting more expensive - but the food options are getting much better. 😎
I'm Australian, and have lived in Cagayan de Oro City Mindanao since September 2017. My wife is Filipina and was born in Bukidnon Mindanao. There has been a lot of development in the city here over that time. I visited Australia twice over the last seven years, and I can vouch for the fact that it's still much more affordable to live in the Philippines. Filipinos are generally happy despite often difficult circumstances, and very respectful. Recently I've noticed a change in the weather here. Rain has been rare for the first few months of this year. I guess that's the effect of El Niño. I did live in Lapu-Lapu City Mactan Cebu for a few weeks back in 2017. The traffic was crazy.
It's all good In Gingoog City for this American. Always enjoy visiting Cagayan De Oro. Amazed to see so many from Australia, New Zealand, USA even in a small city in Mindanao.
You are s right about what you can buy with the peso. A mango is about a dollar, same price as in California except Philippine mango is sweeter, bigger and more delicious especially the carabao mango. Tayo is cheap. Mang inasal is cheap for lunch, Marie day or dinner.
Hi Living abroad wow nice interview an amazing story thank you so much for coming to our country especially to our dedicated foreign vloggers God bless you all
I'm in Davao city. I'm not overweight. I'm not old as dirt. If you actually take care of yourself while in the Philippines, you definitely can still get any girl you want.
Not any girl you want. That is ridiculous and demeaning, as if girls do not have their type and their personal circumstances. You can do well with the ladies, but nobody gets every girl they want, as if they can just snap their fingers at any girl.
@SMoore-vj7bt Lmao. It was a statement to take care of yourself. Just do some exercise and eat healthy. Self-confidence is key. You can't walk around fat and expect to have high self confidence
Good interviews. The cost of things here in the Philippines is either cheap or expensive depending whether it's a product or service from the Philippines, or if it's imported. Almost everything imported is actually more expensive. More imported goods are becoming available on websites like iherb, lazada and shopee, but it's less expensive if you can just ship them here using a shipping company like LBC.
Metro Manila had the biggest change. It was a transformation 6 years ago. The Girl is smart and accurate. She's partly right about the money although not entirely. Rent, mortgage, fast food, restaurants & transportation (Taxi, Grab vs Uber) are 2~3x cheaper.
Depends where you live. On dinagat island they sing karaoke all the time and always have birthday party's and fiestas. Don't know where they get the money but somehow they manage. Very easy for someone to go to 50 birthday parties a year, friends and relatives. Every barenguy has a yearly fiesta. Easy to spend half the year at parties. I have been coming here since 2005 and birthdays and fiestas have always been here. Especially in province. Not so much in big cities. Income here is mostly fishing and farming and some nickel mining jobs and some work for local baranguy. Life is not easy but they still manage to have a good time. They are good people.
Philippines had so many changes like most industrialized country. The buildings , tourism etc. Although there were some inflations. But compare to the other country . Philippines still more cheaper compare to them.
No one talks about the LOCK DOWN AND FORCED V AND TESTING! We know Foreigners who were locked in there condos for months with a pass to leave, it was the worst in the whole world!
Prices increased bec Bong Bong Marcos signed an aggreement letting foreign business compete locally. I live in the province & rent, food, water went up.
My first visit was back in the mid 80's. The obvious changes, becoming more industrialized and the extreme growth of many of the cities, the infrastructure has been the most obvious. The more advanced services offered in medical and business have been the most impactful, along with the tremendous strides in educational facilities. Since the ousting of Marcos, in the 90's, a lot of changes were made to improve the nation in general, other than those key urban centers and areas usually reserved for the more 'affluent' families. The withdrawal of US forces, and converting those installations to commercial use was amazing, though there have been some changes since then. The construction practices seem to be more in line with heavy Chinese influence, being a bit on the 'cheap and hope it lasts' type of thinking. Many of those old base facilities have been allowed to crumble, and the sudden growth of all the condo units seems to be along the 'build fast, keep costs low, and no regular maintenance included' line of business. The provinces have probably improved the most, with the introduction of many services that were never available in the past. Though there's still a good way to go on infrastructure, the opportunities for future development and improvements are highly expected.
@MarkGlover-re5we it's the easiest country to be a youtuber. Everyone friendly and they speak English. About making money, you have to be consistent and it takes time, but yes possible.
I don't think the Philippines will ever be the next SGP. At the moment it's booming in IT jobs and Call Centers BPO but I also think AI will reverse this in the coming decades.
@@edmhie1talking with call center agents now IS like talking to a robot. Not just filipino call center agents but every one of them. And most have bad english too
The lady is correct.. Philippines is always Westernized even though we are in the East. That is because of the big influences of these Western powers that colonized us like Spain and USA.That is the reason why we speaks English that well that we blended it to our native language Tagalog.. and TagLish was born. And many people around the world knew the fact that our national language tagalog is greatly blended with spanish words that we are still very much using today.
I like the interview of the red guy, six to eight hundred dollars for a month will go a long way if you are wise spender which can be leveled to middle class here in the Philippines. But if you are living in the province where foods are not a problem , that six to eight hundred dollar living is not needed maybe three to four hundred is more than enough for a month

I have lived over 20yrs ago for awhile in mindaue city and cebu city and hated it coz to many people as Manila. I have been to some provinces where it is alot quieter and slower pace but they do not all speak English or if do not very well. Even davao and dumaguete cities are to many people but travel regularly to dumaguete and getting used to the traffic. I live in a province now permanently and it's great as I gave up all in the states and lived in small town and worked small town there. I love the fact can get fresh vegetables and really close to ocean and is great for my breathing and I have gained back so much of my health that I don't know how much longer been able in the states keep working with the pain etc and now virtually all gone. My now Filipina and I built a small house together and she told me come home she will take care of me and yes she has brought me back health. I have seen alot of changes in cebu and its everywhere in the world. I have always loved the Philippines and now it's my home forever. Where I am now it's so beautiful the area and the sunsets are always wonderful and different here in the province and especially if at the ocean. I do not regret giving all up and moving permanently hhere
The Philippines changed a lot in terms of modernization. BGC, GREEN CITY in Tarlac. The bridges coming from Cebu to Manila. A few years back none of that is around. The rural roadways are improving. It's easier to travel these days unlike before I left for Europe 20 years ago. At least, today is totally different in my home province.
Since 1982 when I first visited the Philippines, there has been too much Western fast food introduced in the Philippine diet having an adverse effect on the figures of Filipinas who have, in general, become more plump.
I doubt it's the Western food causing this. Most can't afford it, and would not eat it even if they could. The issue is sugar (in the form of sugary drinks and instant coffee), pastries, and alcohol being consumed more (as people slowly get out of poverty). I also notice Filipinos will eat huge mounds of rice with their meal. Also unhealthy/salty canned-goods like Spam, corned beef, etc..
I see it more an increase in the middle class. Standard Filipino food is very calorie dense. Once they get money, they can eat more... whether it is adobo, McDo's, or Jollibee's... it is fattening. Especially all the rice they eat.
Filipino food is not good for you at all. It's not American food. All my family started off skinny but as they age we get fat. It's just how most Filipino arms. We dread the Filipino arms when we get old. But thanks for letting us know how shallow you are
Yes, fast food makes Filipinos overweight. When I go there. I make sure I eat vegetables, fruits and fish but they are not cheap. Fast food is fast, and seems cheaper like typical mcdonald meal, burger, fries, soda is quite affordable. It seems the ones who have not gained weight are the ones working as cashiers at malls. However even women who are living in settlers ares ( the rich term for slum
Interviews taken at the Ayala Mall in Cebu City. We live in Davao City but that mall is perfect with the many balconies! Especially when they have live shows in the garden on the lower level outside.
Now and for the history of mankind, "things were better when I was younger". IE ( Conversation 9000 BC). " The bison herd was larger when I was a kid"..so yeah, it happens to all of us.
I am sad and happy at the same time. YES it's a good news that the Philippines is becoming more industrialized but it also means the exploitation and the destruction of our environment. I'm an environmental person than being a city person and modernizing the whole Philippines scares me a lot and giving me anxiety

You had a handful of foreigners in this video. I haven't seen that many where I live in 3 years in Luzon. I've been visiting since 2014 and living here 3 since 2021. It hasn't changed legally at all.
just not in malls. People can walk around and find restos that serve decent but affordable meals without breaking the bank. Where I'm from, a resto that has been situated on a main road and been serving locals for decades, sell affordable meals (not an every-meal-kind-of-budget but locals can afford 2-3x a week), they have a branch in a mall here, the prices are a little bit higher and the serving sizes decreases. So, malls are a no go for someone trying to live on a budget.
I also enjoyed visiting the Manila Philippines in 2016, yes most Filipinos are friendly, lovely people. But don't forget no place is perfect, and the crime rate is high in some cities (maybe not every city of course). You do have to be careful in Manila, if you're hosted by locals they will give you the right advice to keep you safe (and away from the more dangerous areas).
Actually im from manila so for me the changes here is not for the better but going for the worst like traffic, inflations, corruptions, poverty incidents are a littlebit going up...but positive minor changes i can say are there is a lot of malls now,and small players like groceries like puregold etc.are everywhere..condos are lot more now!
Tell the females you know to stay virgins until marriage and stop looking to be mothers being single. Tell the males to be responsible. Filipinos need the Americans to be in charge again. I have been going to the Philippines since 1996, the males are lazier, entitled and just stupid. The females enable the males to act that way.
I won't say that it's bad, one change for sure that goes hand in hand is that when foreigners/expats go to more "affordable" countries is the price, specifically rentals. I've suggested especially the ones vlogging not to use the word "cheap" because that will trigger greed to the unit owners/landlords. Were just humans. But you guys are doing it to yourselves.
Lived in the Philippines for 15 years, moved my Filipina and kids to the USA, and she divorced me. So I’m coming back to Philippines, marrying another Filipina and will be living there permanently.
