This is a fantastic breakdown of Baykal Skoll. Dude is easily the most interesting character in this show. He’s the most dynamic and isn’t bogged by branding or legacy that every other major character in this series is chained by. And while I don’t think this show failed as like Kenobi did, or worse, Boba Fett, it still suffers in all the ways the show shouldn’t need to (plot armour, fan service etc). I do hope with u that his search is somehow resolved because it is more interesting than anything else in the show. There definitely has been a mostly concerted effort across the stories of Star Wars to question the stark distinction of light and darkness as opposed and unresolvable distinctions wholly locked into their respective moral attributions of light and dark. In Andor too, when Skarsgaard’s character laments his own terrible losses in service of good, and what destruction he brings in service of good seems the clearest critique without going as Baylan does, where he has not only gone beyond the question, but has resolved to resolve it in some way erred as he be or not. I love that stories are more willing to hold their own narratives in greater light. It’s necessary for sure, but probably it is no more than another kind of antithesis. Of course saying that suggests there can be no true wider place to work from, as it suggests, as u describe an endless synthesis thesis antithesis union. So even the merging of light and dark into some grey hue is not just another kind of thesis by which to cause a new thesis

Kreia from Knights of the Old Republic had a similar outlook on the Force's cyclical natural.

I am very happy I found your channel. Surprised that you're a pastor. Although I haven't viewed all your videos yet, your honesty and knowledge of traditions and philosophies outside Christianity stands out to me. Most of the pastors I hear who have a philosophical bend to them present opposing ideas unfaithfully or incompletely, and it seems to me, in their attempt to present Christianity superior. I look forward to viewing more of your videos!

Something I noticed is what you mentioned as “accepting a necessary sacrifice”. Maybe the cycles could be subsumed by a meta sacrifice. It’s strange to try to imagine what is beyond that because we can’t see what that looks like from within the current cyclical system.

Also super interesting that whatever his plan is it didn’t involve Shin. She seemed a bit shocked like the audience lol

I think he saw that Shin was still stuck desiring Sith-like short term powered . He probably knew that she would betray him once she found out his true vision

This needs to be boosted in the algorithms! So very well said. Loved the breakdown of the cycles seen in complication and synthesis!

Perhaps what Baylan sees coming is the Yuuhzan Vong, in the original lore (now legends) i believe it was this threat that Palpatine saw as well, ultimately it came down to Luke committing genocide in order to end the War. Maybe, Baylan has sensed this great and terrible coming future, and he seeks to stop it before it begins. If the force never existed, perhaps the Vong war would never have happened (or will never happen). It’s a loose theory, but it’s mine and I’m keeping it.

Thank you! I wish I knew the answer to that problem too 😂 But I make what I enjoy and think might be helpful to others, and whatever happens after that is outside of my control.

Basically Baylan similar to Kreia in some ways but in some ways not so much.
