If so, the doctor would need to push the device up with the same force, so it wouldn‘t be easier than opening the door with his hands. Yeah, that's a good point. If the Doctor uses the screwdriver to push the molecules of the door to open it, yes. If he uses it to activate some mechanism inside, that opens the door, then no.
