Hi, Nicola here! Today, I want to talk about the connection between physiological healing and mental, emotional, and spiritual care. Often, we think they're separate, but they're deeply intertwined.
I just finished a podcast on brain wellness, where we discussed how simple things like sitting by a fire can shift our brain waves from the busy beta state to the calming delta state. This is incredibly healing for the body.
Even deep breathing stimulates the diaphragm, activating the vagus nerve, which tells our brain we're safe. This connection between the body and brain is so powerful-it overrides stress signals and promotes healing.
Singing, humming, or even sitting down to eat without distractions also engages the parasympathetic nervous system, helping us rest, digest, and heal. While our minds often prioritize productivity, these activities are vital for overall wellness, boosting digestion, brain health, and even detoxification.
My invitation to you is to reflect on the activities you're drawn to but might be dismissing as unimportant. What would you like to do more of? Comment below or message me-I’d love to hear and share how they benefit your physiology.
I'm Dr. Nicola Dehlinger. You can find me at puravidahealthcare.com. See you next Tuesday!
