Side note, there are Techpriests with a family line. Just like Noble families of Generals and Knights/Titans, so do the Mechanicus. However, like all Techpriests and Magos, the further they enchance themselves, the less emotional they become. They will just see their non-augmented family members as either suitable candidates for apprenticeships or supply of skitarii recruits. Nepotism still runs strong in the Imperium.

He pointed at the direction of the gunfire. A band of Word bearers advanced, surrounded by mortal followers. "Charon. Do your sensors detect those marines?" Tribune Charon-048 nodded, drawing his volkite serpenta. "Yes, Lord Magos." "Their continued existence offends the Omnissiah. Un-make them." "By his will, Lord Magos." Charon barked an order across the noosphere and Skitarii and Thallax advanced, activating their baleful weaponry. "Enemy engaged, Lord Magos. "Acceptable work, Charon." Looking back down, he beckoned for servitors to help the Magos up. "Come, Domina, you are leaving the field." "Leave me. I have failed." She replied. She always took failure hard. Especially now, in this age of darkness and betrayal. "Negative. It is not the Omnissiah's will to have you yet, Thetis, and it is not my will either. You will be remade and repaired and you will be the stronger for it. We are the bringers of the Omnissiah's most blessed ruin, Thetis and believe me." He slid the haft of his Omnissian axe further down his arm and activated it in a crackle of motive force, the halberd blade glowing lightning blue. The Thallax took his cue, their blank face helmets showing nothing as they activated lightning gun and rad-cleanser. "We will bring ruin yet. This I swear to you. They will pay for what they did to you."

I didn’t know the priests of Metallica were so… sentimental

I like the character design, because usually tech priests look as a pile of random wires and mechanical parts, i guess kt fits the grindark tone but for the cult that worships machines and strives to reach their effectiveness their augmentations look widely unpractical, I'd like to think that people who strive to achieve machine effectiveness would have autistic obsession with perfection.

Honestly, that's kinda sweet, in an incredibly creepy morbid Mechanicus way

Once again, I am reminded of Magos Vitali Tychon, and his daughter Linya. Now that was a genuinely wholesome and healthy parent-child relationship! Their story is part of the "Forges of Mars" trilogy, which are themselves a great little series of 40k books in general, I strongly recommend them!

If you are wondering why she seems so shocked while living inside the 40k universe, it is because the Magos sheltered her so much that she is absolutely unaware of the average horror of the setting.
