Fantastic review man ! Its such a great book, I really wanna find a copy that has all the edited out stuff added back in (even more LGBT subtext apparently). I read it in school and was like "oh this is what a good classic reads like" and its part of my "gothic horror halloweeny books" I alternate between each October

Heeeeeck yes!! This is one of the only classics (aside from Frankenstein) that I actually really enjoyed reading. It's so twisted and messed up, but I love it all the more for it. Absolutely oustanding character work, we love to see it. Great review Ben 🤩

Oscar Wilde has become one of my favorite Classic authors. Dorian Gray is a masterpiece. I read The Importance of Being Earnest which is so different yet so much the same. Wilde's wit is just sooo good.

Hey, can you recomend a book like this? i really enjoyed reading this, i like the way the artist spoke and expressed. i found that he spoke "philisophicly poetic" if thats even a thing lol. please please recomend somthing similar. or link me to a video where you mention similar books. please.

Thank you for watching! I would recommend something like Orlando by Virginia Woolf or Frankenstein by Mary Shelley for that feeling.

I prefer Oscar Wilde's plays. I mean... I appreciate The Picture of Dorian Gray, but there's something... uncanny about it, it makes me feel uncomfortable.

@@OverlyAverageBen Lady Windermere's Fan is another favourite of mine. But I am one of those readers who sees plays as if staged, so it really depends on my way of imagining them. There is a film, too, if it helps. Not bad. I must say I'm not a fan of any of the adaptations of The Importance of Being Earnest I've seen so far. I like the version in my head better. I even staged it with my students, with girls playing Jack and Algie (just because we didn't have any boys who could play them well 😅) and boys playing Gwendolen and Cecily (they offered 🤷‍♀️ + they were hilarious!).
