I actually fucking called the "Mark 108" cannons. Must've said it as a knee-jerk reaction. MK on a German cannon stands for "MachineKanone" or something like that :P
Even the ripping wings aren't that much of a problem anymore, I often brought the plane on 11-12G and it doesn't rip. Before you rip, the Pilot got uncouncious :D

^This. I mean, I love Spit, but pro players who nolife a single game should stay the hell away from making balance decisions. For him it might be too low, but for most people who put 10-14 hours into the game per week, it's right where it should be. Also like I wrote in my comment, it's easily beatable if you know what you are doing and your team isn't trash.

The ho229 existed. The plane Gaijin calls the ho229 did not. The original flight model that ripped if you so much as breathed on it was probably more accurate since the wings were made of plywood, and the spars were wooden. It was designed as a bomber that could outrun anything, dogfighting wasn't a big concern. Anyway, the V3 was *capable* of carrying cannons, though IDK if it was tested with them installed. The German Air Ministry wanted it to be armed with cannons, so if it had been mass produced it would have had them. I can see why Gaijin added them since the alternative was no guns.
@@duncanmcgee13 Panther 2 did technically exist. BUT not in the way that gaijin has portrayed it. It would have had a 75mm with the Panther F turret (There were a couple of hulls produced that had the thicker frontal armour). Edit: iirc an American museum has one "Panther 2" but they added a panther A turret themselves I believe. The panther 2 we have in game is closer to an E 50 than a actual panther 2.

There actually was a captured prototype that was the V3 captured by the Americans when they overran the test site. It was nearly flight ready and had provisions for armament in place. It's on Display in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum in the Udvar Hazy center if you're interested in seeing the Space Dorito™ in the flesh?
I feel like this is the most dangerous plane to fly against in the mig-9, I flew in a squad of four against one Horton and I'll be damned if it didn't take five minutes of coordinated effort to put him down.
Horton at 7.3 now and it isn't hard to put them down as long as you're conscious of where it is and your speeds. I find killing them in the mk3 meteors really easy, because cannons shred them (even hisparkos) and they bleed speed so easily - if they don't manoeuvre you gun them down with your cannons, if they do then they bleed a load of speed and you boom and zoom past. Repetitive booms just wear down their speed so much that they're locked in a position where they can't flee, and if you have someone with you to do that or cover you while you do that it WILL die unless they're a very good player.
I spent 5-6 minutes fighting a 163 in a MiG-15Bis I'm more of a aggressive fighter I'll push any jet to the limit (cept the horito) and sometimes come out on top
@@goldenx86 if you think the bomber spawn is the only thing that makes it great then you are playing it wrong. Even with an "attackers spawn" or f84 spawn it will be great. The R2Y2 V2 is fast and agile for a jet. And well those cannons. They are the best cannons in the game. Just put on those tracers and watch stuff be obliterated.
@@chrislowe1065 I know, but at a lower altitude, the rest of the team will finally be able to do something. Getting 5 to 7 kills is normal on the V3, that has to stop.
The 103’s on the Horton are also artificially nerfed into shot guns. If they really wanted to nerf its CAS, why not just give it 4 Mk 108’s like the final version was meant to have?
So if in arcade you can't rip your wings does that mean that you have infinite power in arcade? Would you give it a try in arcade, Spit? I ask because I don't have it yet.
Bit late of a reply but I take mine into arcade sometimes for a laugh and usually get 15+ kills. It’s really just rocket powered zero with insane guns.
9:50 I mean yeah, its a P51 at low speed and low alt? I mean literally 99% of planes can 1v1 a P51 in that situation, I think you underestimate how good of a pilot you are, this plane is great but imo its nothing too special, pretty much just food when im in an F8F1b.
It's super easy to keep energy on the ho as a jet though, everything else at 7.0 out-climbs it at decent speed and the p-80 and f-84 can easily outrun it in level flight
not only that but the 262 has the same energy retention in level flight and even better energy retention in a turn. On top of all that, the 262 does turn very well, and you don't have to worry about ripping your wings
They can catch you in a p80 without too much trouble if they have some altitude, ho229 pilots usually either turn fight low or side climb so they can dive on people. It's the same problem as japanese planes, in theory they're slow but they can still catch you in a dive so if you're the unlucky person they decide to spend their energy on then you're screwed without a squadmate.
@@1EthanCC they almost never have altitude on you if you're in an f-80, and if they do just dive too and if you both have alt the odds of the ho catching you is tiny, if you starts with enough disitance and they don't have too much altitude on you can actually just do a shallow climb when the ho dives for you and just out-climb them and they can't do anything about it despite their great energy retention
@@alphawolf1786only BC r2y2 makes climbing so dangerous, if the r2y2 is nerfed Hugh alt becomes safer and you can easily escape the ho just by climbing. the ho just benefits massively from the R2Y2s op-ness because its inability to climb is greatly mitigated by the existence of the r2y2 . The ho in itself is not OP, it just happens to synargises perfectly with a plane that is spammed a lot and I'd actually OP

All a horton gotta do is go straight up to drop speed and spin into it such a fun move with a inexperienced crew you'll black out though hell even max stats and expert crew it can come close to it
The 229's wooden structure was actually heavier than aluminum would have been. It was built to maximize their few remaining resources, and although the one we have in game never existed, it's neither the most egregious (the R2Y2) or the least well-known paper airplane. The Ar 234C that we see in game never existed. The only Arado's to carry guns were night-fighter conversions of the 234B with radar and gun pods.
this is false, a wooden structure is ALWAYS lighter as aluminium (for same strenght) : The most time they use birch plywood for the skin and pine or white fir for the structure (oregon pine and spruce in the USA) with only some fixing points reinforced with hard wood...Wood was use on the Horten ho229 to save aluminium for the real combat planes, but the deHaviland Mosquito was still built in plywood was light and performs very well, was nicknamed "the wooden wonder"...
@@leneanderthalien just because wooden planes can perform well doesn't mean wood is better. Aluminum has a far better strength for its weight, and it's much harder. Everyone at the time knew this, especially the Soviets. One of the main problems they had with early La models was weight. That weight went down when they started using less wood.

More than just the guns didn’t exist. The ho 229 ingame is significantly faster, turns harder, and flies better in every conceivable way. Even if it were to keep its cannons, a ho 229 with its real performance ability would be worse than most props in the game. So just about everything that makes this plane what it is didn’t exist.
Deus Vult it wasn’t very stealthy, the shape was a design coincidence, not an attempt at making it stealthy. In American military simulations, it was predicted to have over 80% of the radar signature of any WWII fighter.
I am probably thr worst pilot on War Thunder but since reaching my first jet.. the Vampire, the only planes I have managed to kill and very easily.. have been the Hortons🤔 and i'm that bad of a pilot ive managed to reach 9.0 british jets.. by mostly ground striking in Tank RB😂😂😂 that's how bad i am
It wasnt engine failure, the test pilot was just trying to land with one engine off. At the time, it didnt have an ejection seat (later models did.) There was a V1, 2,.... V6 versions.
V1 was a glider, V 2 was experimental and did fly but it had a crash landing on the second flight and crashed on the third, V 3 to V 6 were never finished, V 3 was the one found by the US.
I haven't tried all of the guns in the game, but I think that the 30mm Type 5 / Ho-155 are the best cannons in the game. They have high velocity with a one-shot HE filler I think they're the best when not counting the top tier cannons
anything with .7 in its BR will be an instant uptier change my mind I'm not up to jets sadly, still at the Bf-109 G2/trop, hell I cant even get kills with that
Good video but the Ho 229 does NOT rip its wings above 550 km/h like it used to. I played it recently and could do hard turns up to ~780 km/h without any problems, only ripped once when doing a sustained high G turn in a dive or something. You showed this at 8:43 when you did a full 180 degree turn at 750 km/h, its old FM would have ripped both wings instantly if you tried that. I hear alot of youtubers still talking about the Ho 229 ripping easy above 550 km/h and see loads of players in game trying to get me to rip my wings by doing a dive then pulling up hard. The Ho 229 is basically unstoppable now but still more balanced than the R2Y2s...
I do believe it was the v3 (the one we have in game) that crashed and killed the pilot. There were two other variants, but gaijin had to use the v3 (Which was a bomber in real life) in the game because it was the only 229 that we had flight data for (performance, thrust, etc.). They had to make the decision whether keeping it a bomber would be better for gameplay or giving it a fighter roll and giving it the 103’s. They ultimately decided the 103’s and now we have the hybrid Horton that we do in game.
In your He-100 video you mentioned playing more low tier aircraft. I request that you play the Bristol Beaufort, the plane with a twin .50 cal turret at 2.0. It is such a fun plane to fly, and it's so good that i've had 6 kill games. (Might not sound that impressive, but remember this is a bomber!)

Took out my ho229 last tuesday after not touching it for over 5 month, i had no cleu what i was doing but i got 3 kills and 7 ground targets and was 1st of my team and won the game.
Shes my only jet and i love her, my most memorable moment in wt was when a spiral climbed with a meteor and out stalled it, flipped like a kite at the top and demolished it.
I think it’s 7.0 because of the learning curve and... dare I say it, “Stock Syndrome”. Afaik no German props before it could rip in a turn, and when stock its low-speed acceleration is terrible. But overall, I think it’s an issue with the BR system being static - it should increase the more a plane is upgraded.
It's not OP and he doesn't even know what the fuck he's talking about since he didn't even know it can turn above 550kph and that it cannot roll with anything.
2 Horten prototyps where build. One was able to fly and used for testing until it chrashed. The second one was captured by the US, cut in 3 pices ( Wings and main Fusulage) and shiped to the US. Studying that plane was what started the American stealth aircraft development. U can still see the 3 Pices today at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
Any semblance of a stealth program didn't begin until 1958 and that was way before changing the shape of the craft. The Germans had nothing to do with it.
@@GamerTubeHD Nobody knew the 229 specific airframe had a (marginally) reduced RCS until 2008 when Northrop Grumman tested it. It wasn't even revolutionary in terms of airframe shape since flying wings had been around a while. It ALSO probably wasnt even taken out of its crates until the 80's for testing on the paint on glue for radar absorbent properites (it wasnt radar absorbent).
The Ho229 is my favorite jet. It's also the jet I perform best in. One thing I will correct you on is that the danger zone for turning is 540-600 - any faster and you compress enough that it stops you from overloading on G's. My personal strat is to climb up to 2-3km, then go into shallow dives to bait and then go in the vertical. 9/10 times they will follow me, I will be able to turn out of the way of their guns and then while they try to exit the manuver I reengage and just obliterate them. The one weakness of the horton is the extremely weak rudder - you need to not try follow a plane trying to throw you off. You're likely going to miss because you just don't have the rudder authority. In that case you go back in the vertical, roll over and then kill them when they're slow. Also because of the decent ammo capacity and rate of fire you can spray with the guns quite well. @@amararnaut1934 9.0 is too high I would say start at 7.7 if its still op bump it to 8 so it has a chance of 9.0 I would destroy a ho in a mig 17 hell even a f9f8 but that's just my opinion
@@kristijanmedved6066 I agree the 103 is rough against jets but when they connect boom plus heavy landing ships can die from them if you use the armor belts all around good jet I use to think it sucked for so long I always kill them then a squadmate told me to buy it I did and goddamn that's a helluva good jet
