@@Cat-ki3hy look, a good sauce pan hat are really hard to find. He even says that at some point, he got mad at a shop owner for not selling sauce pan hats.
Surprised you didn't mention that if you scroll down the achievements menu (which is portrayed as a vertical hole) and past the achievements you see the hole come out in China and the zombies are wearing Chinese take-out boxes on their heads, which implies that the spread of the zombies is a lot larger than just whatever suburb you're in.
My theory is that Dave once fought the zombies and suffered a bite to the head from Edgar Zomboss. He somehow survived and didn’t become a zombie, but he suffered brain damage and now wears a pot on his head to protect it. He knows Zomboss’ weakness, so they must’ve fought at some point. Dave also knows a lot about the zombies. Either that or Edgar was his brother and he created zombies with Dave’s help. Edgar got turned into a zombie and Dave was traumatised to the point of mild insanity. His help in creating them would also be how he knows about them. The DS trailer even shows Zomboss using a machine to transport(?) zombies. One of them even turns into a human.
My theory is when he was kidnapped by the bungee zombie at the start of the boss fight on the roof the reason he didn’t die was because the watermelon launchers shot the zombie off (why they don’t show up on the conveyor belt until later in the level) and he fell of the roof and suffered brain trauma And the reason he can’t speak is he fell of the roof when putting those pots up there but he fell in to the pool making him only break a bone in his shoulder area making it hurt to talk But hey that’s just a theory
Welp this is all debunked, on the 3rd game’s beta Dave ends up eating a taco but it had zombie brains in it which didn’t get him infected but messed up his brain and speech resulting into the formation of “Crazy” Dave.
Corrective Fact: The "Ice Level" is actually the leftovers from an April Fools prank; the developers had an April Fools Prototype Build where the only thing you could do was look at a screen with some frozen Zombies on a stock image snow background, as the level was too cold to have any sun, barring you from planting anything and keeping the Zombies from ever thawing out.
I actually like to debunk *the crazy dave is a zombie theory* you see crazy dave wears the pot on his head to protect his brain and the reason why he talks like that is cause he's CRAAAAAAAAZY
Actually surprised to see no one mention that both "Zombotany" and "Bloom and Doom" were recycled names for the game. Instead of just ignoring them, the devs put them in such obvious places that we wouldn't even think about.
@@justuraveragecunt9005 Zombotany and "Bloom and Doom" were once going to be names for the first Plants vs Zombies, but were re-used after Plants vs Zombies was decided
the crazy dave is a zombie thing is actually *heavily* implied in pvz2, where zomboss basically directly tells you dave is a sleeper agent and that the taco he's obsessed with contained brains
Zomboss was lying, he did that in almost every world, he is trying to create anxiety among the player, crazy dave, and penny. The only time he wasn't lying was in modern day, about time breaking.
I actually own a few PvZ manga books. Let me just say that it was obviously not checked after it was translated, the plants say a lot of stuff that some adults call inappropriate.
This brings back the memories. I remember playing GW1 and seeing slenderman for the first time and going crazy. Super cool to look back on this, great video man!
*Damn he forgot to mention the unused Battle For Neighborville Engineer speech bubble. Apparently in the files, later removed after an update, Engineer actually said "Nigga" on a speech bubble. Nobody knows why Popcap and EA made it, it was probably a developer joke.*
Other well-known oddities and glitches: 1. You can freeze the water surface in pool levels using ice-shroom to prevent zombies ambushes from coming out of the water. This is crucial for any pool or fog endless setups that requires you to put cob cannons in the first 4 columns. 2. The timer for dancing zombies' cycles is independent from whether the game is paused or not. With practice you can control how frequent it will summon and how fast it will move forward. This is game changing in I, Zombie endless. 3. Cob cannons in daytime roof endless and moon night roof endless levels can only target two rows of normal zombies (excluding gigantuars, imps, zombinis, and balloon zombies) if you put them at the left-most two colums. 4. The hit boxes of pumpkins are larger than any plants you can put inside of it. This information is important against gigantuars and zombinis, because the plant the pumpkin is supposed to protect will also be crushed if the pumpkin itself is crushed. It is also very important to note that, if a gigantuar's attack animation has started on a plant with a pumpkin, you can dig the pumpkin out before the attack lands, then that plant would not be crushed. This is very useful in endless mode when using cobless setups or setups with few cob cannons. 5. Gloom-shroom's attack range for bungee zombies is 3x5 (rows x columns) instead of 3x3 for other zombies. 6 gloom-shrooms coverage without any ice effects or 2 gloom-shrooms coverage with ice effects can kill a bungee zombies in time. 6. The placement of puff-shrooms and sea-shrooms are slightly random. i.e. their positions actually randomly varies a little within their tile each time you place them. 7. Pole vaulting zombies vs starfruits can be glitchy as fuck, as sometimes it would crash land into the middle of the starfruit, receiving all 5 attacks at once. There is a similar glitch with split peas. This is super annoying in I, Zombie endless.
2:06 while yes they aren't plants, the zombies are in kahoots with robots so i think PVZ has really has two sides. Plants and Mushrooms vs Zombies and Robots
People keep saying WWZ has the most powerful zombies but imagine pvz zombies would do against us? Without these fire power plants we would BE MIND CONTROLLED BY ZOMBOSS OH GOD PLS NO-
@@iambumbo7534 didn’t really need to. It’s a free game on mobile and if you find interest in it you can simply download it and everything is there. You can also look a lot of it up as the wiki gives you a lot of information. Also I forgot to come back to this comment later on but yeah
10:56 You know when I was a stupid kid, I actually thought that when Dave got abducted by a Bungee Zombie and when his metal pot fall to the hard roof tiles, he got zombified and somehow enlarged his brain into the mad robot loving Doctor Edgar Zomboss. Now that I look back at it again, how did child me ever thought of all that weird crap ?
The Bloom and Doom company also played a major role in a choose your own adventure PvZ book, in which you break into a abandoned factory and find op weapons and a written pre version of the plant food
Fun fact: the black football zombie was actually reused in PVZ gw2 as an enemy to fight mostly found through the all star wave on the flag challenge thing in the backyard battleground
I also wanted to add something. There happens to be a PVZ book series, that happens to revolve around crazy dave as well as two kids "Nate" and "patrice(?)". These books were, as well as the games, a big part of my childhood.
12:24 I'd like to point out that in garden warfare 2 dave's home is literally a really tall treehouse around 150 feet tall or so. So this is entirely possible to be true. Edit: somebody already pointed it out before me lol
I have a theory about the jack-in-the-box zombie Imagine one zombie who survived a doom-shroom explosion and went insane. Edgar (aka Zomboss) kept this zombie for future plans. He tied him up in a white jacket with belts to make sure he would go insane and kill everyone. For some reason, he always plays with one of the toys they use to entertain imps, the jack-in-the-box. He would crank it again, and again. And every time Jack would pop out, the zombie expressed a mix of fear and shock, like the fateful day the doom-shroom exploded. Possibly he had survivor's guilt where he could never move on that memory and wished to experience it again... When Edgar had plans for a suicide bomber, he grabbed a Jack-in-the-box toy. All the zombies were confused, but then the tied-up zombie came and grabbed it. Edgar put a bomb in the Jack-in-the-box to weaken Dave's defenses. And the tied-up zombie, not knowing what could happen, cranked it again and again, until... HUAHH? BOOM
yoo that's kinda make sense like, what if the box he use was contaminated with doom shroom because he take it with him when edgar makes him as an experiment
I like how people were complaining about the mushrooms not being plants but haven't mentioned the ceramic clay flower pot coming to life as a sentient plant
Oh man seeing the pvz manga being mentioned kinda warms my heart , it was quite what brought me into reading when I was only a child , I remember sneaking them to school to share it with friends at school in secret ( fyi reading comic books or any of the sort was widely discouraged where I live because they thought it was nothing but a distraction for our studies lol) , man , this really brings nostalgia to me , not only that I didnt really have any sort of devices or entertainment in general really so the comic books were definitely a big part of my younger life .... Ah this brings back memories
I actually like to think that mushrooms being on the plants side just fits amazingly and it kinda makes sense because they are pretty much the zombies of the “plant” world
I actually owned few of the PvZ manga. It's basically a "funny compilation " comic which may or may not include PVZ jokes. The main theme is that Plants go to school, with each plants portray as students stereotypes. For example, Peashooter as your average student, Sunflower as a good smart girl, Wall-nut as a dumbass and Bonk-Choy as bully. Manga usually portray these 4 plants as the main character. The other worthy plant talking about are Squash as School Principle, Torchwood as a teacher, Tall-nut (best character) as Wall-Nut big brother,Lighting Reed as a doctor, and Bloomerang as a femboy. As for zombie, I don't see them as much as plants but are definitely funnier for some reason (it's not because they're dumb, even smarter than plants sometimes.)
11:56 I consider imps to be children zombies now, cause in GW2 in Frontline Flats, there is a hidden Easter egg on the out side bathroom somewhere in the map about changing the diaper of your imp 2:40 actually he does come back in GW2 as a rare zombie only appearing in ops and the flag of power
It actually took me awhile when I first played the game to realize Imps weren’t dead kids. I also don’t really believe that Crazy Dave is a zombie, and just wears a frying pan to protect his brain. Great video btw! Earned yourself a sub!
There's something quite interesting in the first PVZ that isn't mentioned here that stood out to me. In the hypnoshroom and the gravebuster almanac descriptions it talks about zombie rehabilitation
10:17 correction The ice level was actually an April fools joke And it was not meant for a new world since it was April fools joke build and even in beta build which ice level was presented Its just the same thing that you see except it show the stock photo with frozen zombies in different lanes
Icebergs just seem to be a string of theories along with fun facts about whatever they are talking about. They are so addicting to watch though and I feel like I am going to fall into a rabbit hole of watching about a dozen of these over the next couple of days.
I feel like all of pvz takes place in Dave's head All of it is a coping mechanism for him while he's surviving an actual zombie apocalypse He grows food to survive but because he's alone he gave the plants and zombies personalities The almanac pretty confirms this for me with each plant and zombie having little sentences about them talking I think this is also the reason why he didn't get eaten at the end of pvz since he just imaged the entire scenario
Three things about the “ you being dave’s imaginary friend “ theory One the voice we hear yelling NOOOOOO when your brains get eaten clearly is not daves, two the reason crazy dave is credited with saving the planet from zombies is because hes the one that made and sells the seeds ,your just one of the people he sold / gave them too, basically he own bloom and doom( we see dave in other songs and he made a freaking time machine he could make the plants) Finally when in the zomboss stage he gets kidnapped and tied up , there no way he could plant the plants like that ( also the fact that if it was dave then there would be no reason for zomboss to continue attacking the house)
The walnuts death animation is less rare then you think! I’ve got the animation MULTIPLE times in the plants vs zombies mobile app,not just when eating a walnut though, when it’s killed by the peashooter it can sometimes do the animation!
Here’s something I love; when I was in 6th grade I wrote a letter to popcap and basically gave the concept for a plant, which was later added as the cauliflower
YOOOOOOOOO, I made the third iceberg (the one with the Peter Griffin mint and Super Brainz levels). Really glad to see it used in this video! Most of them just use the one exclusive to PvZ 1, so I'm glad to see someone used mine. Thanks!
I always saw at that Crazy Dave was a human who was, of course, Crazy. But my take on it is that the zombies were actually people who wanted to help him, but he was too far gone and just, well, planted mutated plants to defend himself
PvZ is my full on childhood I have literally played every game from the first game to the Facebook game that got deleted and up to now bfn (battle for neighborville) I never expected to see a PvZ iceberg Plus that slender man GW1 Easter egg just brings back so many memories and I never knew they made it so he gets eaten by a chomper-
5:53 I’m assuming that rich warmer #2 was the og “final version” of the game. The original loading screen had that style for the zombies, but it was later replaced with the current version.
I’m so upset that nobody ever mentions even remotely pumpkin’s cousin (check it’s almanac page), it would probably go in the abyss since I feel like the only person thinking about this
@@thefireman17492 I have the mobile version of pvz1, try yourself and go to the almanac of the pumpkin, there should be something about the pumpkin not wanting to deal with his cousin or smith like that
The one of Dave being a zombie is dum, in the comics its expained that Dave has his own language and acts stupid but in reality he's a genius even better than the Doctor Edgar Z.
@@fluffycatgaming5775 I dont think so because in the comics doesn't he have 2 nephews a boy and a girl? But not gonna like that is a good theory of him speaking his own language
I have a theory about the Tree of Wisdom. In GW2, Dave's base is literally a tree house. Like an actual tree that grew through a house. Maybe that tree is the Tree of Wisdom, and is growing to pick up more houses so the zombies can't reach them?
It also seems worth mentioning Zombatar, The game that seems most have forgotten was even a thing where you could make your own zombie to replace the flag zombie, But its only avaliable in the game of the year version of the game unfortunately
2:41 adding on to this one, the giga football zombie made it's first "official" debut in pvz garden warfare 1 and pvz garden warfare 2 as a somewhat rare enemy. Only appearing in the super gargantuanar wave in gw1. In garden warfare 2 it only appeared in boss hunts, the super gargantuar wave, the flag of power, story mode quests, and on some occasions, being the only enemy in a special wave/rare event in garden ops(this wave is also in garden warfare 1)it's only form of attacking was by biting and sprint tackling.
If I remember correctly, imps are still babies. In gw2 if you do the imp challenges the mech tells you how it babysits the imps (edit: I’m not sure if they’re kids anymore considering they have jobs and i don’t think children would be able to control a mech)
Great! Regarding Tree of Wisdom, you should've mentioned that it actually has a maximum number in which, if it's crossed, will reset the tree to sprout
There was also a sims 3/ Plant vs zombies collaboration and you can find it easily. It came with an ingame poster and shirts, plus the peashooter. This mainly came along side the sims 3 supernatural expansion pack.
Pvz is such a special game to me, I remember playing it with my family all the time. I have 3000 hours on it and I still play it. You really made my day.
I vaguely remember when the Torchwood had a cigar. I don't know where that memory came from, but I swear at some point it had it. Then again it might be just a dream lol
7:10 Holy 343, it looks like what SCP-407 would make if we leave it in a room with a D-Class that ate 2 tubs of green dye and a packet of frozen peas for 10 minutes straight
