I am on a sock making spree too! I am knitting a box o’ socks for a granddaughter going away to university. Every pair will be a little hug on her feet from me. I have so many favorite patterns but Crazy Sock Lady’s Vanilla Sock on 9” circulars is my favorite vanilla. It helped as I transitioned from double pointed needles to the 9” circulars. I love chiaogoo 9” needles now. When I have a self striping yarn that plays nicely, I like her Heel Toe Do Si Do pattern. Summer Lee’s shorty Socks Pattern Set are really great for shorties with many variations. Lastly, Kay F. Jones at Bakery Bears is a favorite designer. I have about 8 of her patterns now and love them all.
Happy summer ! I am enjoying winter in the southern hemisphere for our summer holidays and knitting socks! Love that yarn you are gifting. I would either make a Venezia shawl (by Joji Locatelli) or a pair of socks but what pattern is tough as I go with whatever strikes my fancy (and brain space) at the time. I have never made the Everyday Hermione socks so maybe those! Thanks for sharing your time and makes.
I love to knit all kind of socks but lately I love the pattern from the Crazy Socklady: Heel Toe Do Si Do. So great for all those selfstriping yarn. I enjoyed to see all your socks and will look for your patterns. I also use the patterns as I want... most of the time longer and another heel.
Hello from Swansea, Illinois. Love all of your socks, I knit a lot of socks. Mostly vanilla socks some pattern. I would love to have one of your breast cancer bags, as I just had breast cancer surgery. You play the piano beautifully.
I love all the beautiful socks! Surprisingly, I like the Stephen West socks! My primary sock knitting pattern is plain vanilla socks. The need to follow a pattern means I have to keep the pattern with me at all times. Vanilla socks give me the ease to just pick up and knit anywhere.
I mostly knit vanilla socks as they are mindless, especially with this colorful yarn so the color can play out on its own😁 I think a camiscarf would also be very pretty in that color!🤩
Well I'm awake at 2:00 am and watched your beautiful podcast to help me clear my thoughts. My husband has been recovering from knee surgeries this past year and I think what I will do if something happens to him. Praying for God's healing. My current favorite sock pattern is Prom Queen by Kay Jones. Have a wonderful week!
My goodness - your socks are lovely! My mother, grandmother and great aunts always knit socks. I grew up watching them and I determined that I would be a sock knitter just like them. After i married and had children, we often camped at a lake near my parents farm. We invited Mum and Dad to our campsite every night for supper, so I asked Mum if she would turn the heel for me since I forgot to bring my pattern. She turned the heel for me, explaining the math, and I've hardly ever used a sock pattern since!
So inspiring to see all your lovely finished pairs of socks! My favourite sock pattern is vanilla socks by the crazy sock lady, Kay Litton. I have it memorized and so makes for a very relaxing enjoyable knit.
I love to knit socks and I love to wear them. I’d say they’re my most worn knits. My favourite pattern is Smoke Gets in Your Eyes by Nancy Wheeler. I knit it in self-striping yarn and it turned out great, but it looks even better with speckled yarns. ❤
Recently I have been loving the pattern A Nice Ribbed Sock by Glenna C. It’s great for gift knitting because the ribbing stretches very nicely to fit different sizes. 😊
My favourite sock is my own vanilla sock recipe with a forethought heel which fits my foot really well. I usually put contrasting heels and toes in my socks and you could choose so many lovely colours to go with that gorgeous yarn. ❤
That yarn reminds me of the fruit salad sweets we have in the UK. I don't make to many socks, but I have bought the Gudrunstomper Gudrunsocks pattern so that is what I would make with the yarn
I have no idea how you manage to complete so many pairs of socks in such a short time but I love seeing them all! My favorite sock pattern is a Vanilla sock. It’s my favorite to show off the yarn and let it shine ❤️
What a fun episode! I so enjoyed seeing all the different socks you've completed. So many gorgeous yarns! With a variegated yarn, like so many here, I will just do a vanilla sock with a heel flap and gusset. A pattern that I've knit more than once that still works with a variegated yarn is the Drippety Drop Sock pattern by Kay Jones. Such a fun texture. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into your podcast. It's always great fun to watch!
I love watching your podcasts. I will keep watching and can’t wait until you have some of those breast cancer ribbon bags available. For purchase my mom had breast cancer 21 years ago. She has sense past from stomach cancer. But I still do our local breast cancer walk every year and would love to have one in memory of her.
I like to knit vanilla socks but am excited to try the new heel in the socks you showed today that has no flap or gusset! I absolutely loved all 9 pair of socks you shared with us today and all the other wonderful goodies! Happy summer 💜Stephanie
I loved seeing all the beautiful socks in this episode and seeing the progress on the throw blanket. My favorite sock to knit is definitely a plain vanilla sock but I love making the color palette socks when I have scraps to use up.
Good Morning Malene, I am very new sock knitting and my favourite pattern is the vanilla sock. I was always scared of knitting socks, but thanks to your wonderful podcast I gave it a go and I am now on my 2nd pair.
Hi Marlene, I like the Everyday sock from Andrea Mowry very much. Toe up and 3-1 ribbing throughout of the sock. That fits very goed. Have a nice weekend. Christianne
Thank you for sharing your wonderful socks. I love knitting socks top-down on magic loop. I use a pattern from Ann Budd for the basics (8 Stitches per inch) then change things up: different rib, different heel, colour blocking, stripes, there's no end to the variety with sock knitting!
Hello, I really enjoy watching your videos, very relaxing and encouraging to see you take what you like from patterns and do what you want for the other bits! I have to remember that I can do that lol😂. I like a lot of patterns but find I enjoy cables in a sock. It seems to dress up the feet so well. Thanks for sharing your knitting journey.
You inspired me to knit more socks 😊 i just cast off the Mermaid Avenue socks by Summer Lee and it is my current favorite pattern (aside of the plain vanilla socks that I always to go to when i just need to knit a bit while waiting 😅) the Ladybug yarn will be perfect for another Mermaid avenue sock pattern that I wish to make again! 😻🩷
Hi Melene! Thank you so much for your podcast! I love the Crazy Sock Lady’s Austin sock pattern for either variegated or tonal yarns! Hope you continue to have a wonderful summer of sock knitting!
So many wonderful socks! And what a beautiful skein of pink yarn! 🧶 I’m currently working my way through the 52 weeks of socks, so I would knit one of those patterns with this beautiful yarn!
Thank you for showing all of your lovely knitting! I often knit worsted weight socks and use the Finnish brand Novita's basic sock pattern for their 7 Brothers yarn.
Thank you Malene for sharing all your lovely makes. I am a vanilla sock Knitter but that beautiful skein would look amazing in the pattern "be simple, with variations". One of my favorites on Ravelry. ❤️💙
Ooo you have so many beautiful socks. I love the fast and easy sock pattern from KnittingILove or the DB socks from the Boervrou. Both are vanilla toe-up socks
Thank you again for a lovely episode, you really inspire me with all the wonderful socks you are making! I don´t have a special favorite pattern, mostly I make just vanilla socks, or with stripes. But one of my favourite sock designers is Tracie Millar, and I´m knitting 12 of her patterns this year. All her patterns are so nice! Have a nice summer! Hugs! Lotte
Hello Malene! Greetings from Finland 🇫🇮. Thank you very much for your wonderful episodes 😊. We are celebrating Midsummer this weekend and I have had lots of knitting time 😍. My all time favorite sock pattern is Monkeys by Cookie A. I also love striped vanilla socks. I'm wishing everyone relaxing summertime and happy knitting!
I would knit the Fairground Socks by Kay Jones, and by the An Italian Knitter, a shawl that is called An Italian Summer Scarf, is a free pattern on Revelry. I love all your socks
My favorite sockpattern is*nt a particular one, but I absolutely love to knit socks with a lace pattern on the front. Socks like Vinterbær or englevinger. I have also begun to make an advent calender, with mini's and leftovers from handdyed projects. When I have collected 24 I will have my husband place them in a box I have with 24 little drawers. I hope to see your calender when you open it. I like your colourful universe
Good morning Marlene. I always enjoy your podcasts. I enjoy knitting vanilla socks because I take the with me when I go out anywhere. Vanilla socks are easy to knit in conversation, while waiting, and in any event. I wear boots in the winter so they are hidden away often.
😻💕 wow! So many finished objects! Socks are such a lovely thing to pop in the post to send to someone and let them know your thinking of them. I've sent two pairs out in the last couple of weeks to friends starting chemo. My favourite pattern is the candy cane vanilla sock pattern by winwick mum. It's a free download on ravelry. I do 64 stitches 20 rows of 2x2 rib, 60 rounds on the leg and a slip stitch heel flap and gusset Really want to try a lacy sock next though.😺🌹
I love to knit socks, two at a time on magic loop. Cuff down, vanilla shorties. I have real problems with second sock syndrome! And getting socks be the same size!
My favourite sock pattern at the moment is Banana socks. I am a wheelchair user, as is a close friend, and they are perfect for people with limited mobility. Jinny - UK😊
I like to knit texture patterns on my socks. They fit better on me than a vanilla sock. I have knitted the Blueberry Waffle Socks several times. I also like to knit Heel Toe Do Si Do by Kaye Litton on self-striping yarns.
Oh what a fabulous sock parade you treated us to today! I “ooohed and aaahed” over all of them. For my charity giveaway socks I like to knit either 2x2 or 3x1 ribbed socks with a slip-stitch heel flap and gusset (not a pattern really). For patterned socks for those skeins of beautiful hand-dyed yarns I don’t really have a favorite pattern as a “current favorite designer” which at the moment is Nancy Wheeler. I have knit so many of her lovely socks and I honestly could not tell you which of her patterns is my favorite! Thanks for the very enjoyable video. Until the next time. Salam wa sa’aadah
Hi! Am especially enjoying this podcast as I am finally learning how to knit socks. I’m doing a top down, have turned the heel and am working the foot. It won’t be beautiful, but I did it! Thanks for your sharing your life!
This year I am knitting my gift socks using The Crazy Sock Lady’s Plain Vanilla either in fingering or DK Weight on Magic Loop. It’s a long list because that’s what everyone wants this year! The skein you’re gifting would be used for gift socks for two tween granddaughters who like Bobby sock length best.
Thank you for your podcast, you are such a prolific sock knitter. I love the different ribs on the shortie socks that you showed, My favourite socks are vanilla socks or the monkey socks which is an old pattern but very pretty.
Hello. If I win this yarn, I would knit the show off stranded socks, which is such an easy to remember pattern. But overall, I love all the patterns designed by The Crazy Sock Lady. Thank you.
Thank you for another enjoyable podcast. I generally knit vanilla socks, but the yarn you’re giving away is so pretty, I think I’d have to make a small shawl with it.
Wow! What an amazing number of FOs!! I want to knit more socks- you are an inspiration! That special skein is too pretty for socks- I would use it for the Antrim shawl pattern, which I recently bought. Thanks for another lovely episode 😊
Hi Malene, My favorite sock pattern for the moment are Scrappy quilt socks by Kay Jones. Such beautiful yarn I would use on the pattern Heel toe do si do by Kay Litton. Thank you again for so much inspiration 😊.
Hi Malene, I so enjoyed watching all of your socks parade - such an inspiration! And it was so cool to be twinning with your yellow vibe! I'm spinning some yellow fibre for Tour de Fleece and watching you say that you are in a yellow mood made me smile! My favourite sock pattern at the moment is Caramel sauce socks by Joji Locatelli, but I would also like to try the Study in slip socks by Laura Fahlin - they are so cool! Thank you for all the inspiration and again congrats on reaching 5k! Soon it'll be 6k!! Greetings from New Zealand, Marina
Tak for et dejligt afsnit. Jeg strikker sokker efter en ganske alm. opskrift altså glat hele vejen. Syntes der er så mange flotte garner som let kan drukne i alt det mønster ..
Thank you for a hyggeligt episode ❤ I love to knit any color work sock as it is fun challenge and they are just so pretty😊 they are not always most practical or best fitting. For great fitting socks I really like your wrap’em all heel I would probably knit a Venezia Shawl for my youngest out of the pretty pink skein ❤
I am newer to knitting socks but so far my favorite would be Kay Lynton's Vanilla Socks though the pair I just finished combined 2 patterns plus a cuff of my own. My Watermeleon Basket Socks.
I don’t have a favourite sock pattern yet 😊 That yarn is gorgeous! I think I’d knit the Venezia Shawl by Joji Locatelli with that yarn! Thanks for all you do! Greetings from your old stomping grounds on the shores of Lake Superior! Today finally we will get some summer weather! ❤
So much eye candy in this episode ❤ I’m working my way through the book 52 Weeks of Socks. I’m only at number 14 so I haven’t decided on my favourite yet. They are all so beautiful it’s a joy to have this book. 😊
The whisteldow socks by Rachel Fletcher are my favorite though i haven't knit them yet. I am knitting Nancy Wheelers Let's Stay home sock. I hope this will be my first successful pair. I do not feel ready for lace just yet. But i can't wait to cast them on. Thank you for your lovely piano music. That song so g will stay with me all day.
My cat goes on the counter and knocks things off when he wants attention 😂 Lately I’ve been loving a plain vanilla sock. I do mine with a 20 round cuff and 60 round leg.
For Sock Madness 18 this year I knit Yttygran Socks by Anna Zhuravleva. It is a beautiful design which was challenging for me. That’s my favourite as of now.
I'm so excited to try that Gudrun Sock heel! I've been trying all different kinds of heels at this point in my sock knitting journey and I've never seen this one before. Your knits are so wonderful!!
I knit toe up socks, have for the last 20 years, my family and friends love them. I absolutely love the pink yarn, would make myself socks. I live in New Hampshire, USA, so nice watching all your sock knitting.
I love so many sock patterns but I really like to just knit vanilla socks. The mindful Melbourne maker has just brought out the Canberra socks which I am keen to try in fingering and mohair.
Love all of your gorgeous socks and your piano playing brought me to tears as that was one of my uncle’s favourite songs so thank you ❤. One of my favourite patterns is the Crunkled Socks by Kay Jones of The Bakery Bears podcast 🐻
What a prodigious sock output, Malene - I am impressed! I was interested to see your Stephen West socks as earlier today I bought the Westknit Year of Socks book 2024 which includes both patterns. Synchronicity in action as always. So difficult to choose a favourite sock pattern. At the moment I love the Get Shorty Ribbed by Irene Designs and also the Gudrun sock (no picking up stitches on either). For my partner I love the Decathlon Garter Rib Socks by Sue Granfield. Linda, UK 💕🧶🧦🐈⬛💕
Another delightful episode 💗 Gorgeous yarns, beautiful music and fun patterns :-). I would love to win the lady bug yarn. My favorite sock pattern is from a patron-only publication by The Bakery Bears (Kay Jones) called the "Hobbity Socks" (I think it was from their December 2022 "Knitability" magazine. It's so squishy and fits perfectly.
I watched your podcast for the first time, and enjoyed seeing all you have accomplished recently. I taught myself to knit a year ago specifically to knit socks. Vanilla socks are what I knit, but I am loving all the patterned socks I am seeing in SSC. I have finished two pair with patterns. I did knit Stephen West’s mystery sock along last year, and made two pair, so I guess I could say I have knit three patterned pairs. I am looking forward to this year’s MSAL. Looking forward to watching more of your podcasts.
Hi Malene, You do an amazing job at sharing all your knitting projects. You make sock knitting look so easy. I do like knitting socks as gifts for people I value in my life but I also seem to take much longer and tend to stick to simple vanilla socks in hopes to get more socks finished. Every recipient has been extremely appreciative. of the gift. if you have any ideas to make sock knitting less effortful do share in your next podcast. Wishing you the very best my knitting friend.
Thank you for all your sweet words Anita!! What a generous gift to knit socks for your loved ones:-) I don't really know if I have any tips to make it go faster. I'll have to think about that:-) Take care!
@@ThePlayfulKnitter Hi Malene, Thanks for your recent podcast. I enjoyed it and was thrilled to hear my name as a winner for one of your giveaways. That's exciting. I haven't had such luck in a very long time. This will be a new yarn for me. I am on instagram, but not familiar on how to use it. I have been trying to send you a text message , but it says an invite has been sent and does not let me proceed with sending you a text message. Hence I am trying to reach out to you, through RU-vid. Hope this gets to you. Happy knitting and creating my friend.
@@anitafernandes2787 Hi Anita Thank you for reaching out. If you let me know your Instagram name, I’ll send you a message and we’ll get your price sent to you😊 So happy you’ve seen it and congratulations😃
I love vanilla socks. I just finished a pair of “wrap ‘em all” socks. I’m in love with the garter heel and star toe. They fit my foot perfectly! I’m going to start the Dragonfly shorties, but I’m doing the garter heel and star toe. I love your patterns. They are so easy to follow. Thank you!
