The Pluto Project, How to find Pluto with your telescope 

Hi Perry, Hmmmm ... it seems like summer observations are getting more and more difficult. I still have at least another week of cloudy or unusable nights on the way. Thanks, Simon. Yup, it's out there far, far away. At magnitude 14.3, it certainly isn't the brightest bulb in the sky, ha. My sky might be clear tonight and I want to try this experiment with the big Celestron 11" EdgeHD. My goal is to see if I can detect the moon Charon. Oh, it is soooo humid right now. I just had another one of those intense thunderstorm with more, to much more heavy rain on the way Sunday-Tuesday. Thanks, Logan. I am betting Pluto would be higher in your sky than here, which is only about 32 degrees. Whenever my sky clears out, I would like to use the 11" EdgeHD and confirm if I could detect Charon orbiting Pluto. Clear skies

Thank you for watching my video. For the Orion EON 130mm Refractor triplet on the Skywatcher EQ6-R Pro mount, I use EQMOD to connect to the mount and NINA to control it. For the Celestron EdgeHD 11" on the CGX mount, I use CPWI to connect to the mount and NINA to control it. Post processing, I use Deep Sky Stacker to stack my images and Pixinsight to process the stacked image(s). Sometimes I will stack in Pixinsight, but only if I am want super fine details, as it take much longer to stack in PI. I also use Photoshop for final touch-up. For editing the RU-vid video, I use Camtasia 2024. Clear Skies

Back then, RU-vid was in its infancy, but since then has become a wealth of information with videos helping newbies wanting to learn just about anything, including astrophotography. Hi David, I leave the scopes out 24/7/365. They've been out there for years now. The only time I bring them in is during hurricane threats. I have no major issues other than some rust on the adjustment knobs. I do bring in the cameras after each session but usually leave the mini-computers outside under the covers. Of course, I do power down the system when not in use.

Hi Rob. I do except when there is a threat of hurricanes, I then dismantle them and stow them in a safe location.

Hi Bill, I got a boatload of rain from "Debby" ... over 9 inches (23.1cm) in 3 days. Just NW of me, 10-12 inches fell in a wide area which resulted in major river flooding (of the Ogeechee River) which damaged many homes to my west as the river crested at record high levels. I haven't done much astro since then due to clouds, and now the full moon, but I have been testing the scopes and all is well.

Thank you for watching my video. I would guess most of the planets are quite low in your sky. On the other hand, I bet you have been getting some great views of the Northern Lights during this active sunspot cycle. Clear Skies
