My husband and I had pretty opposite musical taste, but we both loved The Pogues. He picked this song for our first dance at our wedding. ❤ Tragically, a little less than three years after getting married, my husband passed away suddenly and unexpectedly when he was just 44. So I played this song at our honoring ceremony for him too. 💔 He always was and always will be the measure of my dreams…..

My beautiful mum Maisie Bosquette, Strokestown, County Roscommon, Ireland, passed away 22nd January 2023 in her 90th Year and this was one of her favourites. We played it as she left the Church on the journey to her final resting place. She loved Shane so much. This one is for you mum. I'm so proud of you and all you achieved. I met him a few times, he was such brilliant company. What a sad day. The last of the great poetic singer songwriters. Btw, his English teacher when he was 11 read his essay homework and was so amazed by it he sent it to the headmaster of the hyper exclusive (and expensive) Westminster public school. Shane was then given a scholarship to Westminster and was considered by all his class as a genius, until he was expelled for drug dealing. Dominic Lawson was in his class - he never got over being beaten in English Composition by the Irish lout.

Kentish Town, all the pubs emptied at 8.30 I asked the barman where everyone was going he said Shanes playing up the road, I did not have a ticket but gave the man on the door twenty quid and he let us in, he came on two hours late a totally smashed it, what a presence what a legend.
