Pokemon Timeline is in three branches, at least in my mind: Timeless Timeline: Red, Blue, Yellow -3 year time gap Gold, Silver, Crystal Generational Timeline: Fire Red, Leaf Green, Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald -3 year time gap Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Diamond, Pearl Platinum -6-8 year time gap Black, White -2 year time gap Black 2, White 2 Mega Timeline: Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire -3 year time gap [Eventual Gen 4 remakes] -8-10 year time gap X, Y -2 year time gap Sun, Moon The Reason for the "Timeless Timeline" being its own thing is this: Remakes of games cannot exist in the same timeline as the original as there's enough differences in the world to show the timelines are different enough. In the Timeless Timeline, There's only so much technology available. In Gen 3, you cannot be able to trade up from Gen 2, there's a literal divide, making it a different reality that cannot be linked. This is why Gen 1 and 2 Remakes shunt them out of the same timeline as Gen 3 and onward. From a technical standpoint in our world, they weren't compatible. Also, it makes sense that Gen 3 and the Gen 1 Remakes happen at the same time, as does the fact that Gen 4 and the Gen 2 Remakes happen at their own same time, they're part of the same "era" in hardware and are able to be traded among freely. Then the divide from the Generational to the Mega universe uses "Poke Transporter" to make the transfer. Essentially a special PC that works much like the Link Cable that Zinna destroyed in the Delta Episode, linking to a world that happens at the same temporal date, but in another dimension: X and Y from Black 2, White 2. So if I was to put dates to these, let's use the Japanese release of Red/Green as the dates for Gen 1. 1996 - Gen 1 & 3 happen 1999 - Gen 2 & 4 happen 2007 - Gen 5 happens 2009 - Gen 5 Part 2 & Gen 6 happen 2011 - Gen 7 happens ironically, the years for Gen 1 and 2 actually line up using this mock timeline.

Interesting about the omega ruby and sapphire scenario. I suppose one explanation can be within ruby/sapphire pokemon adventures chapters. In that story, the original ruby and sapphire story ended pretty tragically with many characters dead. In order to prevent the deaths of many key characters, Ruby used a celebi to undo it which created a change in events. So in short, blame Ruby for time foolery.

I think that x and y are in the unknown mega evolution timeline because they are just discovering it, in Oras, loads of Pokémon know about Megas. Ora’s might be the only game in a different timeline

Great timeline! Only problem is, XY DO take place in the main series timeline and are the first instances where mega evolution becomes a common thing within the world of Pokemon, as it has newly become easily accessible to manipulate/trigger a mega evolution through the use of a keystone. ORAS (and presumably Origins) take place in an alternate timeline which we refer to as the Mega Timeline, where the use of mega evolution is commonly used WAY before the events of XY.

I definitely think ORAS Looker is a Faller, and the same Looker that is in XY and SuMo. And hey, if Sinnoh remakes happen then Ultra Wormholes can be explored a lot more, with Dialga and Palkia ruling Space & Time and everything - not to mention Gen 4 is Looker's first appearance!

What an interesting video, this is a really solid interpretation of the timeline. I believe there may be another interpretation that could make as much sense, though, along with explaining some inconsistencies. See, my only problem with the "Mega Timeline" theory is that it _seems_ to justify why there are Mega Evolutions in Hoenn, but it really doesn't. Professor Sycamore explicitly states in X and Y: _"I think the bond between Pokémon and Trainer is the key to this new Evolution. But what is this bond, exactly? _*_And why are there examples of Mega Evolution only in the Kalos region_*_?_ According to this, Mega Evolution is something that only happens in Kalos. This means that X and Y don't contradict any game that came prior to them, as they justify where there were no Megas in the previous regions. So far, so good. I haven't played Sun and Moon, but it seems they also explain the player's ability to achieve Mega Evolution by saying the Z-Ring is compatible with a Key Stone, because it helps connecting the bond between Trainer and Pokémon. Still, Megas aren't something Alolans actively use (even if the Z-Ring is), which means that Sun and Moon could also be part of the same timeline as X and Y, and the pre-Gen VI games, without contradicting anything. But ORAS is where everything derails. Zinnia mentioning a different timeline where Megas don't exist doesn't help to justify the absence of Megas before Gen VI, since that was explained already in X and Y. Plus, Mega Evolution being actively used in Hoenn _directly contradicts_ what Sycamore told us in X and Y. This means that if there's any game that seems to be part of an alternate timeline, it's ORAS and ORAS alone. *XY and ORAS cannot be part of the same timeline without conflicting with each other.* At first I was only going to explain that, but after seeing what happened in the Sun and Moon post-game, I noticed that all of this can result in a different interpretation of what happened with Anabel and Looker. We can safely assume there's a timeline that includes all games *except* ORAS, and an alternate timeline that *only* includes ORAS. This means it's possible that the Looker from the non-ORAS timeline was sent through a wormhole to the ORAS timeline, while the Anabel from the ORAS timeline was sent to the non-ORAS timeline. This explains why Looker is still a member of the International Police in Sun and Moon, as it seems like his memories weren't ever lost. As for Anabel, she could very well had been made the Tower Maiden in the ORAS timeline, when the Battle Frontier was built after the events of that game, hence why she has faint memories of being in charge of the Tower. As of why Anabel's battle theme in Sun and Moon is the same that played in the original Emerald, it may simply because Anabel never really used the ORAS theme as she wasn't in those games. Besides, Red and Blue aside, seems like they chose to use the first theme each character had instead of the more up-to-date one. Cynthia's battle theme is the same she had in Diamond and Pearl, after all, instead of using one of the themes she had in Generation V. *TL;DR: ORAS COULD BE THE ONLY GAME SET IN AN ALTERNATE TIMELINE, INSTEAD OF ALL GAMES THAT HAVE MEGAS.*

You all have to admit this is too obvious of a coincidence. BUT since all new Pokémon games are going to be developed for the Switch, I've no idea how they could link both stories/universes with compativility (which there won't be). ORAS are at least 10 years later than B/W 2, an NPC in a Pokemon Centre says that Pokemon Centres had 2 floors up until 10 years ago. BW/BW2 and DPP/HGSS were the only games with 2 floor pokecentres.

I think we just have to forego the trainers that look like they haven't aged in battle facilities, they're probably reusing assets and artwork, I can tell you for sure that Red, Blue, Cynthia, and other's artworks from Gen 5 were identical to Gen 4 artwork. Between reusing assets and just making them look the same for nostalgia and so they're recognizable is enough for me to just kinda shove that one bad detail under the rug. Also, personally, I'm 20 and I look nearly identical to how I did when I was maybe 12-14 besides minor changes, maybe Wally just ages very well? If he's 12 like Brendan and May in ORAS, and he's about 22 in SM and USUM and has only changed slightly (that being his height), it's not farfetched to say he could look mostly the same, some people genuinely age that well, I'm commonly mistaken for being under 18, people ask "where are you parents?" "can you even drive?" "you can't be 18 to buy cigarettes, let's see some ID". My height also hasn't changed since I've been about 14-15. So for me, it's extremely easy to throw this one detail out as either an oversight or simply excusing it because humans CAN age well.

Another thing I want to point out is that the legendaries in ORAS all have the original versions of their themes, even when said themes had gotten updates prior to ORAS. If we are to apply the "that sounds similar to what happened to Looker, therefore Looker must be a Faller" logic to Anabel, then we have to apply the fact that the ORAS legends still have their original theme to mean that they, too, come from the original timeline. Which means Hoopa can open portals to other timelines. In addition, both Looker and Anabel lost their memories upon entering the new timeline. Likewise, all Pokemon that enter Gen VI from a Gen III-V game lose their memories - as can be seen when you take them to the Memory Girl. This implies that Pokemon Bank runs on Ultra Wormholes, as passing across timelines via Ultra Wormhole causes you to lose your memories. Perhaps Pokemon Bank is actually a way Brigette devised to save Pokemon from the Ultra Beast Invasion, *disguised* as a storage system. And yes, if you assume that Anabel is from the original timeline, Looker's explanation of her backstory heavily implies that her timeline was attacked by Ultra Beasts, and that due to the lack of Z-Moves and Mega Evolution, they easily took over. I tend to believe that the events of Sun and Moon tried to happen, but the protagonist died at the beginning of the story because Tapu Koko never saved them. It's why I say that Sun and Moon isn't a reboot in and of itself, but it makes Gen VI's soft reboot *a lot* harder. I always assumed that mega evolution was still very fairly newly discovered in oras and thats the reason why it is seen as a big shocker when the legendaries take a similar transformation to it. By x and y, it started becoming more common and seen as more normal than anything

**two years later** I agree with this timeline only with a slight change. I believe RGBY and GSC take place in completely different timelines than FRLG. The reason for this is the character designs and the fact that Kris and Lyra aren't even the same games. Plus, you can't even transfer Pokemon from Gen 2 to Gen 3. So in reality, there are three timelines. The "Gameboy' timeline (RGBY-GSC), the "remake" timeline (RSE-BW2), and the "mega" timeline (XY-Let's Go).

Couldn't it be possible that ORAS takes place closer to X/Y? I mean, your only justification for putting them where they are is because that's where Ruby and Sapphire are, but as such a different story, it could take place at any point on the mega timeline. I would say probably between Sun and Moon and X/Y, or even after Sun and Moon. Why? Because Mega Evolution seems to be much more prevalent. In the story of X/Y, mega evolution was this special thing, only a few characters could do it: the player, Korrina, Lysandre, and Diantha, and Calem/Serena, but that's not until the afterplot of the game. In ORAS, it is suddenly much more accessible, as May, Brendan, Steven, Wally, Maxie, Archie, and Zinnia, and to top it off, data in the game suggests that they were originally planning a mega Milotic, possibly implying that Wallace would have had a keystone at one point, too. It would make sense for Keystones to become more readily accessible once mega evolution is more openly understood. This would also explain why Wally still looks so young while Red and Blue look much older.

Before the whole timeline, the POKEMON WAR in Kalos took place. A Floette died, then AZ revived it, but a split in the universe occured, in one universe, stones turned into mega stones, in the other, the stones were the same!!!

The only game on the mega time line would be ORAS because in X & Y there only just discovering Mega evolution and trying to figure out how it works meaning most games in the future will have mega evolution and will remain on the normal timeline as it doesn't contradict anything in the past, I think it's safe to say that all remakes after X & Y will be on the mega timeline but that's all that will be there.

I like to think of each version as a unique pokeverse. Silver could be on the same timeline as red, following the events of red but not entirely in the same universe. A reason for that theory is the legendaries being available more than once to the player, meaning things have taken a slightly different approach in each and every universe

I like to believe that the main series games take place in three separate universes. Generation 1 and 2 take place in one universe, Generations 3, 4, and 5 take place in one universe, and Generation 6 and 7 take place in one universe. Your theory of Azurill didn't exist in Generation 2 because you couldn't obtain a sea incense is disproved because if that were the case, you should be able to obtain Mamoswine and Lickilicky in Generation 2.

Normal Timeline(current or the main timeline): FRLG or RGBY = RSE ---> HGSS or GSC = DPPT ---> BWB2W2 = XY ---> SMUSUM New Timeline(existed because of some King in Kalos): ORAS(also Pokemon Origins?) and maybe FRLGDPPTBWB2W2 with megas, basically a timeline where mega evolution existed earlier. A "what if mega evolution was created by gamefreak earlier" timeline. Mega evolution will still exists in the normal timeline(XY) but still a new thing.

Before I begin, I might as well give the shortened version. TL:DR; the Pokémon timeline has multiple, infinite paths and each player individually has their own "universe" where they follow an ever-changing timeline due to their actions. So, touching on this, in Black and White (but not Black 2 / White 2), the Entralink can be used to "visit other people's worlds." Just going off of this, the Pokémon series has touched on alternate dimensions many times. In cases like Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, there are canonically other 'dimensions,' but these are all part of a single world. Taking the D/P/PL scenario and the B/W's Entralink, I can agree that each version of the games creates its own universe, but I also believe that each individual game itself contains _its own universes on its own._ Because you don't interact with other players in the overworld, and you only connect with other players (and in turn, other _games,_ with technology such as the PSS in Kalos, I believe that each game exhibits some level of interconnectivity with individual games. Even dialogue choices can change outcomes, like how your responses to N in Chargestone Cave change his final dialogue at the end of the game. Every choice you make, whether it ranges from starter Pokémon to even the ones that you keep in the party, can affect how the story goes. In general, the story will slightly branch out but always come to the same conclusion as you are the "protagonist" and drive the story. How you do this affects the story as it goes on, but it always ends the same. In this way, every time someone begins their game, it branches off an infinite possible number of timelines, whether it's one where a Pokémon hops out at you from the tall grass or it doesn't. Keeping in mind that each game canonically affects the other ones, certain things about the timelines stay the same. Major plot characters exist in most alternate universes, except in rare occurrences (i.e. Team Rainbow Rocket's main universe not having a hero.) Because of this, the only character that _doesn't_ exist in every universal timeline is *you.* Each time the player begins a new story, it creates a new universe for a new character. This explains why you can make the same exact character in any version of the games you're playing, yet they'll all have different stories. Their paths, as much as they seem the same, are entirely different. I guess as players ourselves, we may not often feel this, but by piloting these characters through their adventures, we are branching off infinite numbers of infinite timelines with infinite possibilities. As a conclusion, each player character has their own universe. Though canonically systems like the PSS are meant to connect with other trainers in the region, you're connecting with other players in a game sense. Canonically, every single one of us are completely alone in a scripted universe. Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. I hope I didn't give you a brain aneurysm or an existential crisis.

first of all, I would like to say that I really enjoyed this video. I had really wanted someone to Cover this for a while and so I am glad that you did. However, I think there is an explanation for how Wally looks in generation seven. I think that the events of ORAS happened after X and Y. They are remakes and so it could be possible that they take place at a different point in time than the original versions. Another reason this could be possible is that in X and Y mega ever louche and is a relatively new discovery while in ORAS it seems slightly more established which would place it after X and Y. Anyway, that's just my theory that will be disproven the moment someone points out A major bit of evidence that says that ORAS takes place at the same time as Red and Blue.
