You owe just a memory. It is honestly surprising to me as polish living in uk for so long that majority of people don’t know anything about Squadron 303 and other important events from ww2 where Poland was involved like cracking enigma code, Warsaw uprising or how much Poland sacrificed and lost in the past for greater good, that our country was „reset” and it took years to recover from both invaders and catch up with others on many grounds. Poland was a battlefield. And if anyone is interested they can look online for numbers showing the difference and also how polish people were treated afterwards ( not saying people in general but there were some important incidents caused by individuals). And i am not saying this to take any credit as i was not there nor other poles living now and also not saying we are the only one who fought, but i am just annoyed sometimes when we polish people not only in UK but in other countries too are pictured as drunk uneducated kurwa swearing people just because they have seen some individuals. Other countries also have people like that and it doesn’t mean everyone is the same.

Sadly, Churchill had little option when the War ended. Whilst we still had an effective Army, Navy and Airforce, the UK was on it's knees in all other respects and at Yalta was outmaneuvered by Roosevelt as well as Stalin. However I do agree that denying the Poles their rightful place in the Victory Parade was a shameful act of appeasement to Stalin.
Lucky you weren't the Prime Minister at the time. How many more millions would you have sent to their death? Britain and France were broken at the end of the war and you would have had us declare war on the Russians. What a joke.

God bless the Polish pilots who defended this island. My father was Polish who made his home in England after the war. He was with the Polish free army. He always told me he would cut off his right arm for England who gave him sanctuary after the War. He loved England and it's people.
If anyone deserves a statue in central London, it is Polish fighter pilots. Shot down 14% of Luftwaffe losses during the Battle of Britain - won by such fine margins.
About 3.1% actually, you shouldn't take anything said in this video seriously, the imperial War museum are renowned for historical inaccuracies. and most kills were slow flying light bombers.

Not only the Battle of Britain, The Poles fought gallantly all over Europe. Market Garden and Battle of Monte Cassino to name a couple battles. Polish soldiers who fought at Monte Cassino were no ordinary conscripts, drafted and sent to Italy. Most had been forcibly removed from their homes by the Russians, sent to Siberia to labour camps, endured near starvation and escaped on foot to Iran to join the Free Polish Forces as part of the Allied effort. Italy: On May 18 at noon, a victorious white-and-red flag was hoisted on the Monte Cassino hill. The assault cost the lives of 923 Polish soldiers, 2931 were wounded, and 345 were never found. The Battle of Monte Cassino was a testimony to Polish bravery and sacrifice. The Battle of Monte Cassino was one of the hardest fought battles of the war costing the allies more than twice the casualties of the axis powers. The sad part is that driving the Germans from Italy is hardly mentioned when speaking of the war
Imagine the drive, the courage of these people. “Oh our country has fallen, no matter. Let’s risk life and limb to avenge our mother land in Britain”. Men and women of steel in their veins! In Irish they were Na Fianna!
Most of them fought in the Battel of France too. They escaped TWO occupied countries, made it across the English Channel to have another chance while leaving their homeland and families behind to fight against the Luftwaffe. Absolute legends.
The poles had lost their homes, and families, and as the saying goes, “fear the one who has lost everything, for he will fight to the very end” (or something like that)
Did you know this??? Total maintenance costs of the Polish Air Force in 1939-1945. Lets reverse the situation. Do you think that Poles would go and fight for liberation of some country on the other side of the world? Why they should do that? In the same sense, why do you think Americans or Brits should fight for liberation of Poland from the Soviets after the war? How would general command rationalize this to the people of USA, or British command rationalize this suicidal role? Going after Russia was impossible in that time. You need to have the laverage to force someone to do something, and the Russian army was massive. The war was over. There was no more killing. There was occupation, thats right. And that was a shame. But I dont think you can expect some other people on the other side of the world to fight for your freedom, as you would not expect Poles to go and fight for Indians in the USA, or for some African or South American country. Talking as a Pole.
I respect the Polish pilots(both fighter or bomber pilots) very much! And they got nothing at the end of WW2 because their home country Poland was still under occupation and it was a done deal ! This time was the USSR!

The Poles were outstanding and many other airman from defeated European countries also fought but where were the French? Why did they not fly their aircraft to Britain to assist in liberating their homeland?
A lot of the French air force sacrificed themselves trying to stop the Germans in May 1940, & in protecting the BEF as best they could in a dire situation. They deserve respect, and NOT scant regard.
@@bluerock4456 Some displayed outstanding bravery and patriotism but it is more than disappointing that their numbers were so scant. The French had plenty of good fighter aircraft that were not deployed and eventually fell into German hands because they allowed them to be captured. Disgraceful.

I don't want to comment on how Poland was treated politically after the war and since but I just want to say I'm proud of the Poles who fought alongside us in our hour of need and helped defeat the Luftwaffe when it seemed improbable. Just imagine.
My friends grandad was a British Air Force pilot during the Battle of Britain. My mate told me once that his grandfather mentioned that after a German pilot the polish pilots if they didn’t have any bullets left in their fighter they would fly their planes right into enemy and bail out lol. He told us because the Germans were back home killing their families and all.
The French not only didn't want the Poles to fly in May/June 1940. They didn't let their own countrymen fly too! France had twice as much planes as Germany and after the capitulation, Wehrmacht found around 2000 French planes still intact in their bases, never even taken out to the airfield. Same with tanks, Navy and artillery. They simply gave up in the very begginign in their majority (with glorious exceptions) with the government refusing to continue the fight from the Colonies and signing a separatist peace act. How come they were regarded as a "power" in 1945. Pathetic.

@@creepPOL I'm not calling them 'petty liars', so don't put words into my mouth. That is disingenuous of you. If you know about the Battle of Britain, then you would know that overclaiming occurred on both sides. From the ridiculous claims for Stukas on 16th and 18th August 1940 by Fighter Command squadrons, to the claims of having shot down 51 RAF aircraft in a single day by the Luftwaffe unit Zerstörergeschwader 26. All units overclaimed - that's fact of life in aerial combats such as took place in the summer of 1940 when large formations of defending fighters took on large formations of attacking Luftwaffe bombers and fighters. lol umm the poles lasted 34 days and then formed the partisans, the french with a massive wall and modern equipment and a greater number of tanks, air force and men then the Germans, fell in 23 days and did not form a rebellion. Polish tankers also help in liberating Nederland with gen. Maczek and his soldiers freed Axel and Terneuzen. Polish soldiers fought on any front and had the biggest underground state during WW2.
The Poles were not reckless but ruthless. They were well trained in Poland, battle experienced from two air campaigns which was a Darwinian process and psychologically determined to fight the enemy: Revenge or rather retribution? The Poles fought in hunting pairs instead of trios which was the RAF practice. That meant that a RAF squadron of 12 pilots would have 4 attackers with 8 wingman whereas the Poles would have 6 attackers and 6 wingman. A more efficient use of resources.

Well, if you read history you'll get the idea why Poland was so quickly overrun in Blitzkrieg. It's because until 1918 there was no Poland and this year marked it's return to the map, so all in all the interim period of 20 years before the two wars was a relatively short one. Poland was just starting to develop when it got hit again and Hitler needed a quick victory which is always attainable when you attack the weaker opponent first.
