@@GP-qi1ve I'm in Canada, I'm a restaurant supervisor and I deal with mean people every single shift. Like ridiculously mean, people say things you wouldn't even think are that serious. So yeah when someone is the "baseline" polite it always feels like they're nicer than they are.

Eh, those customer interactions always seemed so obviously scripted. I’m glad they largely stopped with that after the first couple of seasons. And even though I know that the diners in HK aren’t paying customers, I certainly don’t believe real life Gordon would snap at a customer like he did in some of those interactions (also the bit in one of the early seasons where a table had a pizza delivered to their table because they were waiting so long for their food was also used in a Kitchen Nightmares episode)

After the 2nd time I have to repeat myself with such a simple sentence, the person I was speaking to would have been sent home and I'd be doing their task myself. I don't go up there tapping my nails and the other annoying shit Karen's do. I just ask for whatever was missing. I do wonder where so many karens and kens get their sense of entitlement though. Like calm down, 9/10 times it was an accident and the staff will remake it if you're willing to wait. No need for the unnecessary drama.

To a point, but I have been to places and Im waiting and staff ignore me and when I eventually get attention I tell them the issue and its like "oh well, mistakes are made" they may tell the kitchen but I end up waiting even longer i.e 30 minutes for something and it comes out cold. I always remember a few years ago I went to a bar that started serving food at 12, I ordered at 11.52 as the only people in the bar, I did hear them say their regular chef was off and didn't get my food for a hour, turns out what they were doing was waiting for it to get busy and doing things in bulk as people arrived 45 minutes after us were getting food before us, and people ordering same food who arrived around 30 minutes later got food before us too, then the food we got was half frozen still and the staff just sat around on their phones or talking to their regulars.

Currently working at a fast food place so it's different, I'm up front so I'm mostly taking orders and bagging food n drinks, and it does get crazy at times. I do feel bad for making people wait, but when I have 4 cars coming in the drive thru with 3+ orders of hamburgers and trying to keep the time from when they first come to order, to them getting their food and them leaving under 4 minutes.... it gets too chaotic. The last thing we want on our ass is people yelling and demanding shit from us, gimme 5-10min and I'll promise your food is fresh and hot. Get off my ass and my cook's asses, AND YOU GET YOUR FOOD FREE IF WE FUCK IT UP SO WHY ACT LIKE STUPID MONKEYS?? If you come up and treat us with basic manners, and read the room a little bit, we'll most definitely appreciate you, and we'll actually mean our apologies and actually hope you have a good day :7

Preach. I work as a barista as part of a team, had a customer come up and ask for help and patiently waited until I'd finished serving another: it turns out his order hadn't been sent from the till despite being paid for (an annoying issue that happens sometimes). He was polite and wanted to make sure he had paid for the order despite waiting in line for far longer than our average with no order in sight, and told me to take my time and work it into my existing flow of tickets. That man got the best coffee I made that day as quickly as I could physically manage with an apology and an offer of a free coffee the next time he came in when I was on shift. These customers are gems and the reason I do what I do, if one of them jas a complaint it gets maximum priority. A Karen's complaint gets thrown in the bin and set on fire.

He actually fucked up in the first place. I was surprised. Old Gordon would never send out an incomplete plate knowingly just to catch up later. So when the customer came and said there is no garnish, he realized the Inevitable was happening, possibly sooner than he expected, and so he can’t say anything to her. The customer was right this time.

well that and he had to send it like that intentionally on the first place to give those people in the kitchen a chance to cook wth 3 people down.... and knew it would come back so he had to be super nice regardless and swallow one and take responsability for others mistakes that's why he sent that other women who was looking for water out of kitchen. Spending time looking for water bottle surely if it was 100% nesseassary and she was at the point of a stroke like the other 2 it would have been fair if she had just pour a small amount from the tap in to mug or glass in the kitchen and not wasted time.

Chef Ramsay, from what I've seen, is a decent and respectful human being who doesn't take bs. Even with Jeremy he gave him multiple tries to repeat what he said, probably because he could see he was a bit flustered/anxious, but he couldn't repeat it back so he had to send him back. He doesn't get angry unless people aren't doing what needs to be done or are being difficult or just all around unhelpful and disrespectful.

Also, it was the garnish station’s fault for taking so long to make the garnish. Whenever the garnish isn’t ready but the rest of the order is, Gordon sometimes sends the garnish separate.

That customer is welcome to sit in my section any day. Very politely pointing out that there is an issue and requesting that it be fixed is totally acceptable. Restaurant kitchens are chaos, sometimes things like this happen. She handled it with grace.

Saw Gordon in Afghanistan, he’d just travelled from New York to London, straight to brize and then straight to Kandahar. He took off his jacket in the “VIP” section we had in the terminal and he had a shirt on (he’d been wearing it in New York remember) that said “I ♥️locals” I just said, “what’s with the shirt Gordon?” He looked down, stared at it for about 3 seconds then shat himself saying “no, no, no, not the taliban!! We laughed. Got loads of photos of him but he wouldn’t take his jacket off again! Haha.

Just wondering... What was the waiter doing while serving the food? What happened to Gordon's standards when he sent that food out? If the sous chef sent it out, then why didn't she get a beating?? The whole thing is heavily staged.

It's not a mistake. Gordon did it deliberately hoping that Mary will catch up with the potatoes later. But she got drown in her double stations and didn't deliver.

in his other shows he displays a much more controlled, non dramatized, polite Gordon, especially his UK ones. I assume in Hell's Kitchen, the whole purpose of his character is that it makes for entertaining TV and it puts these aspiring chefs through the meat grinder if they wanna stand the heat of a commercial Michelin kitchen.

I think this was the best season. A lot of characters, a lot of good chefs. Still a fucking crying shame Mary did not win this season. I shit you not, I must talk about how disappointed I’ve been at her losing once a week. I still cannot believe she didn’t win when she absolutely had the biggest growth
