I hope Ukraine can maintain its independence even if by the price of losing its Eastern half in the process but at least once that happens Ukraine will be integrated into the EU and with the help of the west it will be Much more faster to rebuild the Western portion of Ukraine while Muriupol‚Kherson‚Kharkiv‚Donestk and Lugansk remains in shambles...

I agree man with many things that you say except the ego part, even though I agree about the ego part, but probably we speak of different people. Just to clarify, you most likely talk of Putin and heads of Russian government whereas I after following the conflict for the past 3 years and doing a lot of research on it, I can confidently say that in my humble opinion U.S is purely responsible for it in almost all ways. I know that I'm Russian even though haven't lived there for 8 years already since my parents got better job offer in Poland. The point of me saying this is that I find it, if you think about it with absolute logic and reason and not emotions, to be very silly of Ukrainians to defend their country, because they obviously got no chance. If Russia won't make progress for a long time, they will not go with their hands up saying we give up, that's not how great powers work in real world. They will abandon their policy of negotiating with Ukrainians and try to convince them into surrender instead of doing an unnecessary massacre and they will just turn Ukraine into Yugoslavia 1999, just put their cities to the ground how NATO did it. @@ostapkuri4986 It is not silly of them. And I don't just say this from an emotional place. Yes, Russia is much stronger than Ukraine but the war is still taking a toll on Russia. Sanctions, protests, international isolation, economic disaster. All this makes the Russians bleed metaphorically. The longer the Ukrainians hold, the more pressure is applied, the more Russia sufferes. The more drastic measures Putin takes the harsher the consequences for him and his country. There is a practical benefit in delaying the inevitable as it increases the chance of it not being inevitable.

@@ALEX20hoc nah general mobilization doesn't mean scraping the barrell, there are several levels of mobilisation targets and regular people are the last to mobilize, we don't need conscription anyway we have so many volunteers that conscription is unnecessary

Our own armed forces would be much weaker without American satellites, drones, logistics and other military infrastructure. That's why it's so important for our nations to spend at least 2% on our own military forces, or we might risk bankrupting the US. It happened to the Soviet Union.

I think the US have done it the right way integrating the army into society of the country. Participating regularly at all kinds of events and directly presenting them as an integral part helps a lot for the cause. In Germany the reputation of the army has become somewhat abstract. People have no contact whatsoever with it and therefore have no imagination about what they actually do. The services are basically separated from society. I mean it is hard to move the reputation of an army in to the main lights when people are extremely pacifistic and not even slightly patriotic

Suffering and misery that is uncalled for? That if this man didn't decide to invade said suffering and misery wouldn't exist at all? So we can conclude: this is an act of evil. Selfish ambition. Arrogance. From Putin, not Russia. The Russian soldiers are sent to die for Putin's megalomaniac ambitions, not Russia. He's a evil, paranoid parasite. The only good quality of Stalin is that he lead Russia to victory against the nazis, lead the Russian soldiers that fought for their motherland, their own existance. Putin is very much like Stalin, paranoid, full of himself, callous, ruthless. But he changes in one thing: he isn't a hero. He isn't leading Russia in a defensive stand against nazism, like he tries to make it sound like, he is waging offensive war. And he won't pay for it, the Russian and Ukranian peoples will.

Russia's move to fully invade Ukraine has taken most of the world by surprise. Even people like Mearsheimer who said that NATO shouldn't expand eastwards didn't expect a full invasion from Russia. Also Putin's actions have been very irrational recently.

With this Putin is showing the world that he is ruthless and is willing to escalate should there be a need to in the future among other things like having Ukraine as buffer between NATO and Russia, etc. In other words business as usual in the world of geopolitics. Germany, Belgium, and Austria are home to some of the best military arms producers, Germany's military is bigger than the Uk (which is saying quite a bit considering the Uk's military is one of the best in the world), and Turkey's Drone technology has proven itself in the 2020 conflict in Armenia (unfortunately).
