Whenever a camera records only in 60 fps, I ALWAYS change the frame rate to 23.9 to give it a more unique and movie look, and it works 90% of the time. These old camcorder sensors (Especially VHS and HI8 cameras) have crazy sensors, and looks crazy in 24 fps.
I still have all my point and shoot cameras and all my camcorders from early 2000's .. 1 records 480p on minidv cassette 1 records 1080i on minidv cassette 1 records 1080i on Mini DVD disc Smartphone cameras are ok but good quality pictures you need a point and shoot or dslr. Today its all about convenience over quality.
I just came back from Ibiza with my Sony DSR-PD170P. I shot straight to tape and can't wait to edit. I also have a Canon Legria HF G25, similar to yours, and it is amazing. What resolution does yours shoot in?
I had one of these, great little camcorders, they even have a night shot mode, almost like a night vision mode! I sold mine to a paranormal investigator who wanted it for that feature! I paid £20 for it, sold it for £60 but prices are going up on these as demand increases.👍
Can you send the link to the zoom lens you got at the end can’t seem to find one that does so I’m hoping you have the link to the exact one you got because mine doesn’t fit the threads I have the same camcorder

I fucking hate people that think this looks "retro"if you want that look you have to go to tapes digital cameras just look low quality not actually retro and digital tapes like mini DV look the same. You have to go analogue like Video 8, High 8 or VHS C.
Look up Handbrake. It’s amazing. You can choose resolution, file size, file format, it’s amazing. I use it to compress screen recorded video from playing games on PC, you can retain a lot of video quality and end up with a video a fraction the size of the original.
Panasonic DMC-TS5 1080p video 16 mp pictures 👍🏾 Sony HDR-HC3 1080i video to SD or MiniDV cassette Sony HDR-UX20 1080i video to SD or Mini DVD disc 👍🏾 All these 3 will destroy any smartphone in video and pictures 👍🏾
Video quality is awful. No dynamic range or low light capability. Anything remotely dark is crushed to black. So soft it looks like you smeared vaseline on the lens. Colors are washed out.
