I was five years old when I was diagnosed with Dyspraxia, I was 21 and in college when I was diagnosed with Dyscalculia. I am now 22, and I have recently been diagnosed with Dyslexia. I struggled all the way through school with these problem's, never had support or help. I was left to suffer in silence. I am now proud to say, that I am a University student, just past my first year with flying colours, and am awaiting to start my second. At the end of it, I will have a degree in Creative Writing.

I'm 35 years old and was just recently diagnosed. For once I cried tears of joy. It explained so much. It's so much more than a reading disability, we think in 3D. My family, peers and teachers told me I was lazy and stupid. I've been alone for a majority of my life because, "people never got me." I entered the university with a major in anthropology. My research papers were written horribly but I think my professors passed me because I was fantastic at oral, of course, with stuttering and mispronunciation issues. My professors noticed I could grasp peripheral ideals that the other students couldn't and this is why I excelled. We can see pass the words and they can not. I proud to be dyslexic and now I'm gonna go find some like minds! :-)

my name is Amit Gill and I am dyslexia and 100% proud. I love being Dyslexia. This is such a beatiful gift, and i have a great passion for the theatre, film and Tv. I strugger with this for years and was quite depressed, until I had a nervous break-down. 8 years on my life is great and i have grow into a much more happier person. School was so difficult for me and causes a lot of pain, and my family did not understand about being dyslexia. My child-hood was so difficult. but believe in your gift

Age 8 to present I have been on a quest to understand my dyslexia, understanding my weaknesses isn’t a problem.... trying to find my strengths can be a challenge. Our brains just work differently to the 'norm' instead of thinking in a square we think in triangle. If a dyslexic has the willpower and never let anyone stop them from achieving their dreams, they can conquer anything! So many people base 'intelligence' on how well an individual can read and write. Intelligence goes much deeper than that!

Wonderful video and very inspiring! Im 23 and was only diagnosed being Dyslexic about 3 years ago. Throughout school i have had alot of difficulty with maths, and having a terrible memory. I went through primary, secondary school and college without anyone questioning wether i was Dyslexic. It was only my Higher Ed college that it was suggested that i should be tested. One of the best things about being Dyslexic is that we are very creative people using art and our hands instead, like me!

I too, suffer with a type of dyslexia. I remember being taunted. They used to shout '...dyslexia rules, KO...' Took me ages to find out what they meant. Even adults used to tease me....I grew up missing out on so much....My wife is my hero, she has continued to help with my dyslexia for the past 20+ years. Thank you for posting. I still find grammar difficult.

Thanks for the video. Made a grown man cry.

What a wonderful video! As a fifth year college student it was great to come across it and take a moment that I can become what I want to become in life. These men and women have done wonders in their feilds that I can't wait helping children with their "ability" of Dyslexia. In high school I had a teacher tell me I was lazy and I wouldn't become anything in my life. I'm about to graduate from college with honors and become a Special Education teacher. I think I showed her. Thank you.

I was upset today as my grammer was all over the place, doing uni work and cannot focus properly. I went to my room and laid in my bed thinking "I am Dumb, I am not worthy, why I was born this way and why do I have dyslexia?" and slowly one by one each of my family gave me hope, they gave me the support and the foundation that built me up again. Watching this video gave me that hope as well.

I knew I had something in common with those people. My dad questioned my degree choice because it was reading and writing intensive. No, I did not graduate with honors, but I did graduate, and overcame the odds. Thanks for this video, it nearly brought tears to my eyes, every one of the statements was true of me.

if not suppressed, invalidated or destroyed by parents or the educational process, will result in two characteristics: higher than normal intelligence, and extraordinary creative abilities. From these the true gift of dyslexia can emerge - the gift of mastery.

Being diagnosed with dyslexia as a child isn't the end of the world, only the beginning. I ended up failing high school because I believed that I was too dumb to read and write - but always had big dreams and ambitions. I was able to believe in myself with the support of my parents who stuck by me during good and bad (drugs to escape) times. I'm 24 now and have recently graduated from university, quite successful in the corporate world and run my own business on the side. Always keep fighting

Thank you so much for making this video. We are a very proud Dyslexic Family. I have a question for some teachers, "Why are you teaching if some of you clearly do not like children?" Yes there are some wonderful teachers, but sadly there are some nasty ones. My daughter begged me to Home Educate her. I got her moved class, as the teacher forced her to stand up and say her times tables, knowing full well she struggled. Of course the children were not educted to be kind to other children, so they made fun of her. The next time the new teacher told my little girl that she could not read a big book like the other children. She proved that teacher wrong. Now she writes amazing song lyrics, has her own library in her room, and is learning to play the Cello. This is a message to all Dyslexics. Don't let some bullying ACADEMICS made you feel stupid. We think outside of the BOX. And that is what we need in education ... To think differently! Good luck everyone. And I hope the education system one day is something we can all be proud of. The important thing in life is the message of hope.

I use to remember that when I was a child i use to go to a psychologist to go to the sessions. but the worst thing i remembered that in 4yr the learning support techer said that i should go to a special school and study there but the teachers said i was alrite. still i have bad grammar, cannot process reading that well but still pull through in my exams. i am truly bless to have support of others to help me out.

Yes because making a video about dyslexia, a reading "disability", in the form where you have to read is such a great idea. I like the general message, but as a dyslexic it's frustrating having to pause the video every 5 seconds to read what you want me to know. I watch video's so I don't have to read. I didn't even bother finishing the video, to much work!

I'm dyslexic, however when I was a young child I wanted to read so bad I went to summer school just to learn how to read, the reason I wanted to read so bad was so I could understand the old Nintendo instruction manuals for the games I was so in to,seems so small now but I can't handwrite a letter to save my life and some tasks take me longer than people who don't have dyslexia, but I can read and understand pretty good, some letter reversals but technology helps a ton.

I was diagnosed with dyslexia very young. Dyslexia extends beyond spelling and reading issues. I had the reading comprehension of a 5th grader when in kindergarten, but could not write my own name due to complications with being ambidextrous. I had difficulties with math primarily due to issues with auditory comprehension, an area often overlooked when diagnosing dyslexia. Teachers who rely too heavily on lecture will disadvantage students with poor auditory comprehension skills.

being in school is hard. being in school with dyslexia is harder.the fact that you have to try so much harder just to fall down is devastating. it takes all you have just go get back up and try again, no one but a dyslexic knows what its like. we know just what it is like to go through that over and over. one day we all realize there is something that makes us great and that dyslexia helped us get there. so i guess to everyone who knows what its like goo luck to everyone in everything you do :)

Good video. Like many others I find it funny this is in text and is for people who have trouble with text. I know the range of how well someone can read or write varies widely, and maybe you made this for mild dyslexics, parents, friends, teachers, or just acquaintances of dyslexics? I have no judgement since I don't know what you were aiming for.

I had such trouble to read and spell when I was in school but later in life I understood I could not be taught I had to do it on my own.For reading I found a subject I was interested in and was determined to read. The more you read the the better your spelling becomes.I also found out I can not be taught math I have to learn it on my own with those books that give instructions. We each have our own learning style. When you understand that you do not feel defeated and give up and the funny thing is that the way that was impossible for you to learn starts to feel not so impossible Everyone has a gift..Whats yours...

I don't have dyslexia, I have dyscalculia...My classmates used to pick on my in 5th grade for having to use my fingers on 'simple' math problems such as 5+4 and 8+4. It was normal for me to be at the bottom of my class, but now, after working really hard almost everyday with my dad, I'm almost at the top of my class now...And I'm now the one helping my classmates with their math!! And I believe anybody with something like dyslexia or dys-whatever can overcome it if they just try!! ;)

I have dyslexia and I am proud of it! I also read about Albert Einstein having dyslexia and most dyslexics have a very high I.Q.! I was the age of thirteen when I learned to read and I graduated with honers in high school and graduated from college! Believe me when I say, I still struggle with it!

I really strugled at school, I am now 45 and still find reading a chalange but I have made a good carea in computing at a senior level. Dyslexia does not have to ruin your life. Work hard and believ in yourself, just accecpt if you enter a spelling comp you will come stal ;~)

People, it may feel like a curse is on you but it gives you something to work on, it also disciplines yourself so you can look at the world in a different way. If you have trouble socialising and get bulled, take it as a step up in life to help you be a better person. Success is not all about how smart you are; it’s about what you are and how you use it. Try thinking of 3 dreams… because there’s always a possibility. Life is short. Becca x

Im dyslexic and adhd. school was hell as i was constantly told I was stupid, lazy, usless, and always I was the example to the class of a bad student. it was extreemly horible as i was infact trying very very hard only to find i still failed. altho I find i cant stop creating new things and seem to find that people who beat me completly on learning and tests were unable to understand anything I was great at. meh cant get at what im tryin to say but what i lack i make up for.

People use to call me failure. Some use to call me abnormal. Some use to say he will become burden for his family. But today things are different. I am a MBA graduate getting handsome salary and living my own life.

I don't really have it in the sense that I have trouble reading (although I am rather slow), but whenever I am nervous and talking I mix up letters in words. And example "She is on a frain in Trance." This was a few days ago, and it was quite funny. Sometimes I switch around words when reading, writing, and speaking, but never when I am singing. Dyslexia isn't all that bad. You just have to learn how to learn your way around it.

my brother and me and my dad all suffer with dyslexia, although mine is only mild and not all people with dyslexia have trouble reading, take me for example.i am obsessed with reading and now own and have read more than 300.however it limits my abilty to pick up foren language and to get muddled up with some words when speaking.my brother has dyslexia as well as a few other stuff, but he is really good at maths and computers, for his age.like i said and like this video says, nobody is stupid. :)

Not all those people on the video have Dyslexia. Some of them had ADHD. Einstein had Autism and ADHD. I have ADHD and I served Seven years in the US Army, spent a year in Iraq, and made it through college. It wasn't easy, but I did it. These people on the video are an inspiration to me.

@Muamarz I'm in my first term in law school. I am never able to read the words aloud in class. I can't. When I see words, they don't make sense to me. I have to read them over and over again to understand the whole sentence. I have put so much time and work to get this far. I believe I can make it.
