I'm pretty sure he's met a lot of Marvel's characters and is a big thing in the Marvel universe, I recall a thing where a new villain wasn't even taken seriously because he hadn't even fought SPiderman yet, that just tells you how popular Spiderman is in his world.
I like that the years long Friendship between Peter and Johnny transcended Death to the point Human Torch could tell a hearty joke upon their next meeting.
@@youtubersworldwide3713 I totally agree with you but I never collected his comics on a regular basis. I have figures in all his suits the white one is gorgeous
Now, imagine saying that when dropping your pants in front of a woman.....just imagine, just think about it....wait for it....there it is! You're welcome....
Sooo....you think that comment was serious (it's not, just in case you still haven't picked up on that, and I'm pretty sure you need to be told this), and you just had to comment on it and add your 2 cents when it's not needed (because most other people seeing it probably already know it's not serious). On top of all that, you did this when my comment is 7 YEARS OLD! You're not the first one seeing this here, but you are the first to be mentally messed up enough to take it seriously and feel the need to say something, probably because "you're offended", meaning your sense of humor is....well, let's just be polite and say it's lacking. BTW, I have actually used that line and example with some women who were comic fans. Not easily offended prudes, I don't waste my time on such people. But women who are looking for new and exciting people, things to do, someone who's really fun to be around...these kind of women love a good "bad" joke, and they're pretty fun in bed too. Now, if you're still offended and feel the need to say something about morals and right vs wrong....don't bother and stfu. I am not you, I don't live like you, never would bother trying to, and I also don't need or want your respect or approval to live my life as I see fit. And neither do the ladies I spend my time with (actually, they probably wouldn't want to associate with you either, because your moral BS is rather boring). Sooo....keep you morals to yourself and don't spread it on the internet. No one wants it, and it's a lot like dropping your pants online and showing people what you've got....exactly what you're trying to say is wrong and ill-received. Follow your own advice, buddy...
This story made me cry. I loved it. The aspect that describes endless possibilities of a child's future when a father and mother actually puts love and work into them is so powerful! I hope we see this story hit the big screen, although it may not be as powerful.
And as a product of the types of parents that didn't quite measure up to this ideal portrait of loving parents, I too she'd tears over the possibilities of what life would be like if given the same opportunities. Rob is absolutely amazing in retelling this story again, and the reason I had to come back and watch the old video to jog the memory - awesome.
For those of you wondering, the song in the background is "Brothers in Arms" by Dire Straights, and while this is the acoustic version, the full version is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. I'd highly recommend it. They're such a great band.
I believe this is acoustic is also used in the West Wing to kick-off the reelection announcement, I remember liking it then to. Good song for this comic wrap up.
Saw this comment two years ago. Ever since I’ve listened to the song and it’s one of my favorites. When I hear it back now, it reminds me of old memories; particularly one of an early morning family trip, the day I read this originally. Thanks for letting people know the name of it.
Not really, and this actually breaks the lore even. lol. After all, when Galactus Dies, it should have released Abraxas again. But it didn't. Next is that Galactus himself, like Eternity, Death, and the other Cosmic Entities, are a Constant in the Universe and they server a role that is of a higher calling than any other being except one that takes them out and takes over that role. So how can he be a Herald, a messanger, a servent, to a mortal being. Even if that being is Franklin. It would throw out balance in the universe, and the Living Tribunal should have stepped in. Then again, the Living Tribunal should have stepped in against the Mad Celestials too, since they were upsetting things on a Multiversal level.
+jirodyne I think that's the point. You pointed out the constants in the Marvel Universe and Franklin is one of them. C'mon, we all knew he was the Marvel equivalent to Jesus for the longest time. Even with All New All Different Marvel, the Richards family and Molecule Man are rebuilding the Multiverse, so to say that Franklin having Galactus as a herald is funny is kind of insulting. Why would the One Above All or The Living Tribunal have to step in to maintain balance when the story itself is about maintaining the balance? That act of The Counsel of Reeds itself was what threw off the Multiverse's balance and the decision of the Earth 616 Reed was the step to putting it back in order. There was no need for any other beings to step in because The One Above All knew that Franklin wouldn't fail because He won't let him fail, he's Marvel Jesus!
Matt Tyner Franklin isn't a Constant. As far as I know, paying attention to all these comics and stories, there are only TWO Franklins in the ENTIRE multiverse. That's the current one, and the future one. There isn't an all powerful One Above All power leveled one in other universes as far as I know. If Franklin was a Constant in the multiverse, he would have a purpose to fulfill and would either have a copy in each multiverse, or 1 that was outside the multiverse. But other than creating the multiverse once again with Moleman and Reed, we never see him go beyond his own universe. In his own created universes inside his main universe, yes. But never step out into a different one, short of the Negative Verse where Annilius was, where he just shot some lasers from his hands. But anyways, this it leading up to my point. That being that as powerful as Franklin is, even in the future, from the looks of it Franklin is only a 'world class hero' I think it's called. He can effect the Universe, the Multiverse, everything. But he stays on earth, focuses on earth, does nothing outside of earth. But Galactus is a Universe wide entity, and is traveling the whole universe constantly to destroy worlds. What's more, it's Future Franklin coming back in time that revives Galactus, not the current time one. What happens when Franklin goes back into the Future?
Franklin is unique in storytelling as he is a stand in for both the reader, Jesus, and God. Someone who imagines they are the center of the universe, one who must prepare to be the center of the universe and one who is the center of the universe. As such stories about Franklin are difficult because the question is never 'What can he do?", but much more "what can he do without disrupting all of reality?". Ultimate power is not about beating a villain, it's about self control. And that's why I love Franklin Richards.
There is plenty of evidence that Franklin is just a different stage of the one above all. for multidimensional beings strict timelines are irrelevant. Franklin may have been born in his own creation and grown outward from there. it doesn't make sense in four dimensions but reality shapers aren't 4 dimensional beings.
One of my favorite things about your videos is your excitement and passion for these comics and characters. It is easy to watch or listen your videos when i can tell you enjoy these stories as much as i do.
The future Franklin came from a past where his dad died and he never had his powers until later, he awoke the "new" young Franklin's powers earlier, so young Franklin would theoretically develope to be much stronger than the adult one here.. That's why Adult F suddenly had his reality falling apart, cuz it no longer existed since he changed his younger self, saving his dad
A battle on a galactic scale between cosmic forces from across time and dimensions! ALL done... because Franklin simply wanted his dad back. Damn. Such a simple benign reason.
+TheAlchymist I'd say that and they don't really respect the comics and what made them great. They use it as a brand to sell big movies instead honestly trying to interpret the source material into cinema format like MU.
I've been diving into the back catalog of your Full Story sets. On Civil War, I commented that this was the peak of comics stories. You topped that with your summary of DC's Crisis runs. Now, no bull, you've given me my favorite explanation with the Hickman and co. series of the Fantastic Four. It's truly a masterwork... the sense of scale is awesome. The theme of family is what I'm gonna remember the most. Bless you, dude, for sharing the aforementioned series, and your entire body of work here on the channel. Peace!
WOW this was amazing! I normally listen to your full stories while at work as background noise but I must say I was caught off guard at how emotionally distraught I was with the death of Johnny Storm, then again with Bens grieving with the help of Hulk and Thor. As if that wasn't enough when Sue Storm getting back up and fighting when things looked like it was all over the tears started rolling yet again only to be turned into tears of joy at the sight of her amazing Mothering skills in the embodiment of her two grown children was amazing. To end it with tears one more time when Franklin revived and summoned Galactus to him as his herald.....Lets just say it was a very emotional day at work today. Thank you for your Impeccable and comprehensive story telling of this great run by Johnathan Hickman.
It would be a complicated to portray as it would need more than one movie, and with Hickman's style of not explaining thing until the end, people will be turned off for a while if ever excited at all, except for a couple of fans. However, if this was to be made it could absolutely be an entire MCU filmography by itself. So maybe in the looooong future we can see it flourish. We can only hope by keeping this stories relevant for the generations to come.
The movie would be 99% CG. I expect it would look a lot like Green Lantern. It's a great story though. I'd still love to see how Marvel would translate all the monologuing over action scenes into on-screen action.
I don't think so. If you remember, in Guardians of the Galaxy there was a colony living inside os the head of a celestial. So I would assume they can easily take that route. Othere than than... maybe they can take the Ultimate Universe solution of using the Ghal Akh Thus Swarn created by the Kree, which in a way ties to the Inhumans which is a property they want to push into the spotlighs.
A saga of movies that can, *perhaps*... bring the FF and the X-Men into the MCU proper? Yeah, the "Annihilation Wave" crossover saga. Brings all the FOX licenses back to Marvel, with a badass story arc to bring the FOX run to a nice and neat little close.
Great coverage of this story Rob but I feel like another video might be needed to explain everything that happened with the Future Foundation and Doom. "All hope lies in Doom" is a pretty important part that you skipped over.
I used to hate FF4, but after watching this I am not sure. Maybe FF4 isn't that bad, maybe Hickman is that amazing. Either way I going to give hit a shot!
This is my favorite piece you have done because you truly ran through the actual story in detail which allowed you to explain why important moments where so awesome. Much more interesting than approaching a topic factually and jumping around. Plus your enthusiasm for the story was engaging. Would love to see more of this.
Quite possibly my favorite arc you've done. Thanks for opening my eyes to the genius of J. Hickman and others. I got in to reading comics about a year and a half ago, at 27 years old. A big(if not the main) reason why, was your channel along with Comicstorian.
Thanks for making this series, Rob! I had quit collecting comics during this period....And when I went back and started trying to catch up, I just felt like I hadn't missed anything. After seeing this, I see I should have never counted the Fantastic Four out. Best comic story possibly ever. Hickman has such a good understanding of the Marvel universe as a whole. Awesome series. Thanks. :-)
@@williamtimonen6814 they dont even need franklin.. reed richards himself would out smart thanos and win... hes saved the planet multiple times from galactus and saved the multiverse multiple times.. pretty sure reed would build a time machine or something and fix everytthing.
Rob, I absolutely LOVE the enthusiasm you show in this episode. I ended up reading it after watching the first couple videos and it really is a great story that was planned out very well.
No, Rob, god damn it, no! There are 2 parts of the story you just have to do. The "All hope lies in Doom" part, because it's pretty essential to the story, and the conversation between Franklin and Galactus, because it's like the most badass part of the whole arc, especially when he calls Galactus by name.
He's better off saving "All Hope Lies in Doom" for a Secret Wars video since the B-story Doom takes part in at the end of this run is basically directly leading into his role in New Avengers and subsequently Secret Wars.
This series of video has been One of the most exciting, intriguing and mindblowing series I've seen on youtube. It has been like a great book, difficult to put down and sad that it has ended. Thank you and good job Rob!
Love the format of this discussion, Rob! Kind of reminds me of when I first found your channel and would watch your event videos. Love your enthusiasm and can't wait for you to pick another story!
loved your narration of this comic. Your level of excitement got me amped enough to actually to get into this comic book. Thanks man keep up the awesome work!
You crushed it brotha, love watching these videos. Thank you for taking the time to make these, they bring back that child like feeling of happiness. This was dope
Rob, loved this series. I mean I LOVED this series. Not just Hickman's run, but the way you laid it out. I read it when it was hot on the shelves, and after finishing your playlist, I am going to go back through my longboxes to read them again. Great job man!
oh man, that song when susan is about to die, fit so damn well. well done rob on sharing this story with us, i went to buy it after johnny died, it was truly incredible and well worth my money
Yes, thank you! I was trying to remember what song was from and I just couldn't remember for the life of me. I knew it was from a scene showing the Earth and explosions, but I just could not remember lol
Its "Rise of the Machine's" not "Judgement Day" dude, but you are right it is from that part when all the nukes start to level all the major cities. It is judgement day when this song is playing but you got the name of the film wrong. Have some nerd pride dude! lol
I just figured that is probably what you meant, but proper grammar is important in comment's on RU-vid. What you should have said was "the song from judgement day in the movie terminator 3" because the previous movie was called judgement day. I've learned proper grammar is very important on RU-vid, it helps to clear up confusion.
yeah i meant the actual event of judgement day in terminator 3, seeing as it was my own comment i responded to i didnt think grammar mattered and more about helping others locate it. but thanks i couldn't remember 3's name anyway, i know 2 was judgement day but the actual event happened in 3 sooooo.
man, hearing your excitement telling this story reminded me how juiced i was when i first read it. def one of my fav comic stories in the 30 years ive been reading. i dont know anybody else who loves comics like me, other than my older brother, so its good to hear. keep it up bro. peace
probably one of the best stories i've heard in a while. thank you for show this to us man this was one hell of an emotional ride. and probably one of the best ones.
This was awesome ! I totally dig binge watching your series. Have you considered doing one on the Hulk? I'm kinda new and haven't found one on just he Hulk so an in depth look at the many aspects of the Hulk would be cool. I've read a lot of the Hulk but i'm not sure how much of it was canon or just fan fiction. Anyway just a thought. thanks for the great content and look forward too watching more.
Brother, your voice over made that 3x as exciting, just the music in the background and your tone, bravo. I already knew the outcome and felt myself getting excited again like it was brand new. You could read a eulogy and I’d be amped after hearing it.
Rob!!! long time fan... this has been the best run you've ever done!!! quite honestly the best video you've done!!! I loved how you got excited about Franklyn in the end and brothers in arms... oh man!!! one of my absolute favorite songs ever!!! that musical intro just absolutely set the mood!!! I'm constantly waiting for new vids from you and this one was the best!!! thanks brother man!!! great story line that you did absolute justice to!!! EXCELSIOR!!!
+Hailstormful It can be done. Key word "adapt" not copy. You'd have to alter things but if Marvel get the FF back, then this could be completed over the course of a trilogy with the inhumans movies working as a companion trilogy.
Rob, I have to say, your videos after your vacation are on a whole new level. This series, your History of the Marvel Universe and your Rundowns are some of the most entertaining comic book related videos I have seen. You're an amazing story teller and I love the content you're putting out. I hope they publish more amazing comics so that you can make more amazing series like this one. Robcore for life
The song that starts playing at 17:26 where it looks like Susan and the team are gonna die is called Radio by Marco Beltrami. It's on Spotify. Like this to make sure others find out.
lil/future frankie richards = the sentry? ...derp u sir! not outta left field for marvels first family, tho. I could probably hold the sentry up against everything under the sun - doesn't make it fair. well done, hickman. loved the secret warriors too.
this was awesome rob ,and i love the work you have done recently like the history of the marvel universe you was all ways the best ,but lately you have taken it to the next level
hickman is awesome. But i have a question...why didnt Franklin stop the Beyonders so Secret War would not happen? it seems we would have at least see him fail, but I dont think i saw him once in the comic or the lead up to it in avengers.
I completely agree, but it's the problem with comics in general. Because there are so many different writers, what one writer creates should be at least mentioned later on, but the writer after completely forgets or plain doesn't know about said plot line/character. The different writers creates unique developments, but in my opinion the consequences of multiple writers slightly outweigh the benefits.
So what was the purpose of the mad Celestials? It can't be as simple as conquering/destroying this universe. I doubt that they would freak out about Galactus knowing this since everyone who would see them would assume this.
They were "mad" so I get the feeling they were literally just out to destroy everything they could find. As for why they freaked out about Galactus "knowing" where they came from, maybe they more meant because Galactus knows their origins in any universe, like I mean he doesn't just know they're from universe 398479 or whatever, he knows how they are created, who created them, etc. Plus Galactus is basically simply the counterweight to the Celestials from the 616 universe, he eats the planets that have the "eggs" of Celestials growing in them. Maybe even though they aren't from 616 they still see that as a threat?
In that panel we see Nathaniel and both the older and young versions of Franklin and Valeria. If Mom and Dad are part of the Fantastic 4, then the kids would be 5 and 6. Nathaniel has this weird galaxy symbol - probably because he's Reed's dad and a time traveler so he's metaphorically "beyond numbering".
Rob, thanks for these 10 videos. I spent the better parts of 2 nights watching and enjoying them. You're right, that's a fantastic story, and you summed it up very well.
kingdom come. the last bit with captain marvel (or shazam now :/) is probably my favorite scene in comics. but this is definitely biased considering captain marvel was my favorite hero growing up
This may be my favorite video I have ever watched you do. It may be in part of the great story that was told but overall I absolutely love your explanations and this one is high up for me.
Every time I think of Franklin Richards, I laugh and say "you wish!". An omnipotent white man, who sits above God??? LOL. Of course you guys would love it.
Thank you for this series. And your channel. I dont have time to read comics like i used to, so your channel and a few others allow me to revisit some stories Ive read (Guantlet, Civil War, etc...) and some, like this one, I havent. Excellent.
Dude the way you covered this story with the dramatic music when the human torch came back the music and the way you gave us the Explanation was just clutch uh we have to get another story like this one by far one of the best
