​@joangratzer2101 I'm only referring to the Western Allies, not the Soviets. The Soviets had a different doctrine and were profligate. In Normandy, the Germans deployed their most powerful divisions: 1st SS, 2nd SS, 9th SS, 10th SS, 12th SS, 2nd Panzer, Panzerlehr, 3 battalions of Tiger tanks -- including the then brand new Tiger II's, plus other assorted amored fighting vehicles like the Jagdpanther, yet were unable to throw the Allies back into the sea. Of the so-called elite German formations, only Totenkopf, Wiking, and Grossdeutschland were not deployed to Normandy. And even if these divisions had been thrown into the Normandy maelstrom, the outcome would have been the same. They would have been annihilated like the rest of Panzerwaffe in Normandy. Of the nearly 2,500 tanks and armored fighting vehicles that the Germans sent to Normandy, less than 100 made it across the Seine river at the end of the Normandy campaign. It was an absolute route. Had these same formations that the Germans wasted in Normandy had instead been on the Eastern Front, they would most likely have blunted Operation Bagration. The Germans were never able thwart an Allied amphibious invasion landing -- despite the inherent dangers of such operations. With regard to kill ratio, renowned armored warfare expert Steven Zaloga, has shown that, for example, the Sherman had a positive kill ratio over the Panther -- regardless of which side was on the offensive or defensive.

No they weren't. The German elite units always inflicted higher casualties on the allied units. They were only defeated due to a much less number in men, equipment, and other resources, which the allies had in vast, endless supplies.

@@user-ys3wf7bl4k Those divisions were present and were able to fight off as well as they could given their resources and manpower. The 12th SS was even able to halt the Canadian advance at Caen for many weeks. And the 9th SS along with the 2nd and 1st held open the Falaise gap open for a good amount of time, allowing many German units to retreat. And it's not quite right to say that these units were present during the Normandy invasion. Most were very far away and only arrived in time to conduct breakthrough defenses.

Not completely wrecked. The II SS corps actually achieved most of their objectives and even WON the tank battle at Prohkorovka. They had to pull back because of the northern sector failed to pull through, and their flanks were exposed, among other things.
