@@jaybeezy4124 not at all, as to say otherwise suggests that the Universe exist for a purpose, that purpose being to host life and intelligent life in particular.
'we' are not alone. It's a whole party so mind-blowingly huge and complex. We exist in a density that limits our capacity to comprehend the true breadth of what life can appear as. Even in these quantum physics videos we are trying to comprehend/explain dimensions beyond that in which we exist which is impossible though we like to try. Enjoy being human, it's a trip.
This paper is bad for a specific reason. Anders Sandberg gives 200 orders of magnitude to the uncertainty surrounding abiogenesis via the Levinthal Paradox, but the 200 number is not a number that even Levinthal advocated using. Therefore Sandberg broke the premise of his own paper saying that he was estimating uncertainty from reviewing literature. Without this mistake, the paper reaches the opposite conclusion.
Nah… too many of the equations variables assume that life would look pretty similar to ours… It’s like asking your dog if the neighbor dog prefers kibbles and bits or gravy train… and all your dog has ever eaten is cheeseburgers.. your dog is going to be confused and ask you Wtf dog food even is… If your going to attempt to disprove something, try not to do it from a limited vantage point… seems a little cocky to assume life would look like/develop/evolve at the same pace, with the exact same tech and materials, and do the exact same stuff with it… Why don’t you go back and ask Newton what the Mayans were up to… o wait…
It's the best application of evidence and probability theory I've ever seen with regards to interstellar aliens. If you know a better approach, please let us know.
Some numbers that are never really talked about.. for instance what happens to the wide range for your frequencies be used on Earth and broadcast.. what's the wavelength change to as they reach distant objects something called like red shift.. so that shifted frequency is something we should listen for.. one would think that is an active ongoing thing but
i think any substantially narrow in nature search, really one should only expect such substantially narrow conclusions...and in the reality of things, what is another, or alien type of civilization? what about the planets and their civilization? what about our cells and their civilizations. what about our dreams, what about ghosts. what about stuff moving faster than we can comprehend, what about things beyond the visible light spectrum. i mean honestly, what are aliens? because if we saw some ship land and people got out, how are we to know that they didnt just come from another place on earth, and if still from earth then are they aliens? what if its us from another time, what..i mean, so much larger is said spectrum that they deem not even potential for possibility. and is anything that collectively is non entropic then therefore intelligent? plus what about things living in lava, or perhaps living in light or living on emotional energy..who knows
Thanks for the comment. I was trying to keep this video as short as possible, but should have emphasized this paper covers intelligent alien life, capable of interstellar development.
