The Shotgun Infiltrator is the true predator of the Mass Effect series. This is especially true in Mass Effect 2, with the addition of the Tactical Cloak.
The build is aggressive yet tactical, fast yet requires thinking. Definitely one of the most overpowered and fun build in the series if played right!

A few tips when playing this build, not included in the video: 1. Go for the head. Always. Except Husks. Go for the leg there. 2. Pyros are priority. Hit the tank, then run for cover. 3. Melee when you miss, and melee to stagger enemies if you really don't want to miss(especially husks). 4. Don't try to sneak up on the Pretorian. Stay away and use the Geth Plasma Shotgun on those levels. 5. I beat Vasir with both shotguns and the Plasma Gun will definitely cause her more pain. And less to you... During the fight with the AI, don't reload your gun(if it has 1 bullet remaining) if you use the Eviscerator. Let it reload when the AI is exposed, this way you can shoot it four times instead of just three with the full clip You can shoot the Shadow Broker in the back as long as you aim for his head. The headshot damage seems to apply still, because he has such an enormous head. I guess that's it! :)

Engineer in ME3 is broken beyond belief lol. It’s essentially a summoner class. You can have a drone, a turret, a hacked synthetic or turret, your two squadmates, your squadmate’s drone, etc. Plus if you get Dominate from Morinth you get another fighter on your side. Basically you can have like 7 or 8 friendlies out on the field at once if you play your cards right, which is ridiculously OP. You can just casually command a small army into battle lol.

Incredible build. I really like how shotgun feel much better on infiltrator instead of snipers. Simply because most infiltrators rarely use invisibility to flank someone or escape from enemy. Most of the time they are simply using it behind the same cover numerous times in the fight for a simple and quick damage boost to headshot. While with shotgun it is utilized properly for attack and escape scenarions. And it fits better lore wise - how Shepard is implimenting invisibility strategy in both space (Normandy) and ground combat. Or how Alliance copied the strategy used by Geth invisibilty units with shotguns, and Shepard is using it very well. Btw do you have ME3 vids with this build?

I did not even have to coat my blade or use traps, perhaps on hard and nightmare you also have to use them? I'm not sure if you plan something like that, but I am about to start a playthrough with a "tactical control engineer". How would you build it? I am thinking about passive+drone+dominate+overload, but there might be a better setup. Thanks!
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg 8 месяцев назад
Sounds good. I actually wanted to build this too, and make a build video about it, but I got too busy. Guessing AI hacking will be part of the build too if you are after full control: AI and organics. I would go after area overload and use an additional squad member to double it. Then use either area hacking or area dominate on them depending on what they are. This is for controlling groups of drones(geth drones, collector drones, low ranked mercs etc). If I go after controlling sturdier enemies to disrupt the pack(Collector Assassin, Mercenary Commanders, Geth Hunters, Geth Primes etc.), I would build it with Heavy Overload and Improved Hacking/Dominate in mind to extend the duration on the bosses). The Drone can stun everyone and deal damage when it gets destroyed so it work either way. :)
@istvangaluska
@istvangaluska 8 месяцев назад
@@AKisHerceg Thanks for the ideas! Since I can max out 5 skills for Shepard by the end, I guess it will be dominate+AI hack+overload+passive+one extra (probably drone). Actually, this would be a lead into an ME3 engineer, which is super easy to build (attack drone, sentry turret, defense drone as bonus skill, engineer passive and fitness). I might be missing sabotage, but who knows... ME3 drones are not too hot alone, but if you have five of them (three from Shep+EDI+Tali) it should overload the AI with targets I think. It will be strange to play most of the game without a tech detonator, but at least it would be different than usual :D

@@istvangaluska Yeah, I actually love AI hacking in ME3 because unlike in ME2 you don't have to strip the shields first, just use it and cause instant confusion. Even on bosses like Primes. @AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg 10 месяцев назад
Cryo ammo gives excellent CC with squad Cryo ammo, which is something I prefer over Incinerate, since I really only use Cloak and Incinerate would just put it on cooldown. Taking cover and shooting Incinerate kinda messes up the whole disappear-reappear "predator vibe" for me. However if you want, you can incorporate Incinerate into the build. You would loose the CC with Cryo ammo, but you can blast them with fire. Pick the Geth Shotgun in this case since you can use Incinerate against armor.

Why the shuriken over a heavy pistol for the placeholder at the start
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg 10 месяцев назад
Because the Shuriken is better. Heavy pistols are slow. You need either one insta-kill hit damage(shotguns) or an overwhelming rof to drown the target in bullets while the Cloak lasts. Shuriken can rip apart a target with high shield in less than a second. Heavy Pistols are simply too slow(Carnifex or late game Phalanx) or too weak(Predator) to provide the punch you need.
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg 10 месяцев назад
Here is the calculation: This is without Cloak damage boost or any modifier! Shuriken full clip: 480 dmg in 2.1 sec. 24 bullets. Carnifex full clip: 510 dmg in 10 sec. 6 bullets. Phalanx is even slower than the Carnifex and the Predator deals less than half damage per shot. Still if you want to go for a Heavy, the Predator is still the best among them because of high rof compared to the others.

That's an option i suppose... or you can do 67% more damage with one shot from a mile away, with time deceleration. I am assuming the author didn't include all the failures when he missed, when there were more enemies then he anticipated, when it doesn't finish the enemy, or when he is waiting too long for his chance and all squadmates die and he is already surrounded. My bet - it happens between 1/3 to 1/2 times.
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg 3 месяца назад
Well, the author states that this build is definitely not for people who are new to the game. He also states that the gameplay is very similar to the Vanguard, in which every bad move comes with the possibility of failure, therefore success is much more appreciated. More dangerous, more tactical, more exciting. There is no question about the fact that using long range weapons is safer - in fact, it makes the gameplay way too easy and there is no challenge or learning curve. Just sit in cover and use your massive advantages. This build is meant to provide a unique and arguably more exciting approach to people who are looking for a challenging but fun Infiltrator experience.

My favorite build in ME2, far better then Widow build on hardcore/insanity despite many say otherwise. Also AP ammo(and Warp) very overrated, because wierd ME2 damage formula make them far less effective then they look on first glance. I think most optimal way for shotgun infiltrator to use his default ammo powers(cryo work especially good with shotgun) and take stasis as bonus. Stasis super useful in many situations.
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg 11 месяцев назад
That certainly works too! I really wanted to focus on Cloak this time with proper positioning and Ammo switching, hence I don't use any other powers. Disruptor, Cryo and AP are all great actually. AP is especially great on Insanity since that is the first layer of many enemies(Husks, Scions, Vorcha, Krogan, Oculus, and even the Heavy Mech armor layer is incredibly strong so AP is definitely helpful taking it down), and the damage calculates based on the layer being hit, so I think it is an excellent power for a Cloak/Ammo focused Infi. :)
@guruvedra
@guruvedra 11 месяцев назад
@@AKisHerceg actually damage formula kinda more complicate. It's somethig like base attack(weapon base damagexall modifier)+ammo power damage(n% of weapon base damagexpower damage modifier). So ammo power instead multiply attack just add some extra damage on top. And this damage based only on weapon base damage without any upgrades(research etc). And it's wired interact with different protection layers. Disruptor, cryo and incendiary better then warp and AP because they all have special sttus effect.
@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg 11 месяцев назад
@@guruvedraI was talking about how the damage bonus is calculated when you use special ammo on certain layers of protection(your formula is indeed correct). Which is basically if you have AP ammo and you hit armor, if the shot is powerful enough to "bleed" through the armor layer, you will keep the damage bonus that was added to your weapon from AP ammo, even if the second layer is not Armor. Which is why AP is pretty much one shots everything with a headshot that has armor(except of course Heavy Mechs and Geth Prime). Same applies to enemies with Shield when it comes to the disruptor ammo. Because of this, even Krogans with high health only take two head- shots with AP ammo. At least that is my experience with AP ammo. I truly think that its the best ammo mod for damage along with Inferno ammo(naturally Disruptor against synthetics is also great). Cryo is great for crowd control, so I maxed with this build and picked the squad upgrade. They freeze everything with smgs or ARs(much higher freeze chance because of their rof) so I think it is much more effective that way than a slow firing shotgun. :)

Very clean. I had a friend who also played Shotgun Infiltrator and tried to teach me, but I never got the hang of it. In ME3 I settled on the N7 Valiant over the Black Widow so that I could do stuff like this, to engage at short range and be very mobile. Then I got into Andromeda and discovered the power of Fusion Mod of Adrenaline. I crafted an automatic Hornet with Bio Converters and called it 'Noisy Cricket.' With Adrenaline + Life Support + Shield Feedback + Tactical Cloak/Invasion/Turbocharge, I can very quickly get a kill at point blank, reset my powers, immediately activate Cloak, and then move on to the next target, without taking much damage, and while keeping my health topped off despite chewing through whole magazines with Bio Converters. Every engagement I'll dive straight into their backline and tear them apart one by one, just like you do. So in a sense I stumbled into a Shotgun Infiltrator build myself, sort of.

@AKisHerceg
@AKisHerceg Месяц назад
Sadly, no. You have to wait until you reach that part of the story. After you recruit Archangel and the other 3, you will have a mission, and after that mission you will be on a timer - 2 main or 4 small side quest(N7 missions) and you will trigger the quest, where you can get the training. So it's actually not that far into the story when you can get it. Basically 4 recruit mission, 1 main mission and after that just do 4 N7 mission(they are short and not story related), and you can get your hands on the Shotgun. I recommend 2 N7 missions from the 4 where you don't need to use your guns: one is at the planet Zanethu - just get the data, there are no enemies. The other is Sinmara, where you just have to complete 2 puzzles and that's it. It's done in 2 minutes. Also the planet Taitus basically has 2 varrens and nothing else in terms of enemies. Firewalker missions also count towards this trigger, so if you have not done them, you can do them to trigger the mission.
