Frankia specialises in large, high-end motorhomes but now it has an A-class model for those needing a 3,500kg vehicle. The Neo MI 7 GDK has twin beds, a large garage and a very clever washroom. Based on the front-wheel drive Mercedes Sprinter, it’s a rival to models from Hymer and Carthago and has a stylish, contemporary interior design, while also being considerably more affordable than Frankia’s renowned Platin range.

Great review Peter. I was taken back by the interior on this model. I'm sure it would look better in reality. Just saying for that amount of cost.
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
It's quite a plain and simple style, which won't suit everyone, but Frankia's quality still seems intact
@MsMsmak
@MsMsmak Год назад
I agree. It looks dated and cheap.
@SqwarkParrotSpittingFeathers
You are right Peter, that the gap in the floor, next to the seat, is a little odd as it goes into the underfloor space, especially as a double floor is meant to help stop cold coming up into the habitation area. One may have to wear a left slipper that is double fur lined.
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
You might get odd looks in the shoe shop - one stand slipper and one fur-lined one please...
@boatingsibbingandwandering3262
Makes me laugh how any one thinks £127K is affordable. Some people don’t seem to live in the real world. Have you watched the news lately
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
I simply said that "it's slightly more affordable" - compared with Frankia's usual £180-220k price range (on Merc). All things are relative. Yes, some folk are struggling (and I will never be able to afford a 'van like this myself) but, equally, there's currently no shortage of buyers for premium motorhomes at well over £100k. Consider that you'd have to go easy on spec on a new Range Rover to "only" spend £127k and I think that puts perspective on it.

Dose the chassie pack put it over the 3500 kg B licence
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
No, you can have the Chassis Pack and still stay under 3,500kg for a Class B licence (just), but be very careful regarding the weight of other options fitted and what you carry (esp in the garage)

@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan 10 месяцев назад
The continental side, yes, but does it matter? A UK motorhome has the door on the "wrong" side when you go abroad. You don't usually park a 'van like this in the street, either.

Are all camper vans diesel I believe there’s going to come a time where countries in Europe and uk put restrictions on all diesel vehicles and probably not that far away from doing so
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
All motorhomes are diesel and 99% of campervans are, too. There are a very few petrol models and a tiny number of electric ones. I think it will be a good few years before Euro VI diesels are a problem, although city centres may be an issue. For electric campervans see the Feb issue of What Motorhome - www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/motorhomes/store/back-issues/what-motorhome/

I'd much prefer the American Renegade RV, than this! Basically because the Renegade is far more superior in my opinion, having a built in generator and two slideouts! Both prices are similar!
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
You can't buy the Renegade in the UK and, if you did manage to import one (LHD), you couldn't drive it on a standard car licence as it's 5 tonnes. That's a big point in favour of the Neo here. Also, European brands tend to be very nervous of slide-outs as it's so hard to ensure that, in time, they don't leak.

Lose the bench seat and have a prep space for the kitchen with storage underneath.
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
That might be too little lounge space for UK buyers, though
@Hondadctrider
@Hondadctrider Год назад
@MotorhomeCampervan I suppose it all comes down to what the buyer wants from a motorhome and how they are going to use it.

I much prefer the look of A Class motorhomes without the front drop down bed. I don’t know why so many have them, people with young kids don’t really feel like the target market for this kind of vehicle.
@tonysutton6559
@tonysutton6559 Год назад
Maybe not a couple with their own kids but a couple with grandchildren would find them useful.
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
It's often about resale. Dealers prefer to have the drop-down bed fitted as it widens the pool of buyers when these 'vans became more affordable on the used market - not just families but for grandchildren, too.
@SqwarkParrotSpittingFeathers
Did I miss solar panels? A compressor fridge might need a couple?
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
I expect most buyers will want SMC to add solar but, again, you'll need to be careful about adding weight if staying under 3,500kg with a useable payload. Some buyers will use site hook-ups and not need solar panels.

Nice. Shame no U shaped rear lounge to be a little different and optimised for couples with front drop down. Front makes me think of Ironman 🙂
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
Love the Ironman analogy. Would love to see a rear lounge Neo (quite easy for Frankia to change the single beds here to settees), especially as this maker is known for its rear lounge layouts. Maybe for 2024...

For a motorhome that price the sealant finish underneath was terrible looks as if they did it in the dark half the bolts missing on metal anchor points in double floor iteneo or pilote better value and better finish

Garbage kitchen, the kitchen is THE most important part of the motor home, lousy product,🤮🤮😢
@MotorhomeCampervan
@MotorhomeCampervan Год назад
But to a lot of buyers it isn't the most important aspect. Many will barbecue outside or eat out. Surely, you spend many, many more hours sleeping and driving, so the bedroom and base vehicle are more important than the galley? If you like cooking so much, you'll probably prefer British 'vans

Yes, it's something they need to address. But sunvisors (and windscreen wipers and blindspots caused by mirrors, etc) are always worth checking out before you buy any A-class.
