The Presence of God or Mysticism? - Ask Pastor Tim

There are many people who talk about "the presence of God". Is this biblical or is it mysticism? Anytime we're dealing with experiences in the Christian life, we need to be careful and we need to look at what the Bible says. We need to make sure that we're not looking for something more than what's revealed in the Bible; but we also need to be careful that we're not satisfied with something less than what we see in the Bible.

Thank you for this. I have felt the presence of God, but have family members who visit churches affiliated with Bethel. I was even pushed down at a service because I wasn't slain in the spirit like everyone else and I was rebuked. When God's presence did fall on me a different time, I was crying. Not this silly stuff. I left this church when I heard a speaker looking for gold dust to fall during worship. True worship is humbling yourself, repentance, thankfulness. Not jumping around and falling backwards.

Every spirit carries a "presence". You have to discern which ones are demonic and which presence is of God. That's why a gift of discernment is necessary in the church.

Not one man loves the stranger or the Son of Man, thus the only spirit man has is of the devil's lust. Thus, none will go to Heaven, with their many words. Zero Charity equals zero salvation. If they loved, they would welcome this Truth with love.

A mystic is a person who directly experiences the presence of god and allow that internal spirit to transform them from the inside out.
@lopezbill6132
@lopezbill6132 Год назад
When I feel it I feel the same but I feel the spirit speaking to me directly and not thru a book The kingdom is within and a mystic is simply a person who has had a spiritual awakening of the spirit within. Comes from psychedelics.... meditation...yoga and more.. prayer and so on. Jesus said to die to your self. Your sense of self is the ego it's your mind and thoughts and identification with your body. Jesus wants us to die to our sense of self which is the ego. All 3 of those allow you to have an ego death or dissolution. You gotta do more research. Oneness is the truth which is unity which is a mystical experience of feeling God within and you all around you.

It's refreshing, and a true revelation when we realize and accept that each of our relationships with God is uniquely personal, and special. When we focus too much on what other humans say, do, or experience, we limit ourselves, our God, and that intimately personal relationship each of us has with Him.

His present was so real the "heaviness" this is what I was thinking my mortal body couldn't sustain his Holy present. His holy present made me feel like I was going to die my strength was gone. Tower said: pray until you pray and read until you read. Andrew Murray said: wait on the Lord - wait on the Lord until you can worship Him with whole heart and soul and your prayers have power. We are too hasty in the inner room. I always make known to God that I'm not going anywhere until He meets me. Often when God shows up I cringe for half an hour terribly ashamed in His light seeing my words or what I bought that wasn't necessary etc or how I treated a hungry youth on the street giving him too little money etc. After that I usually ''pray through' as the old people said. This is all on my own without music etc just me and God and the open Bible before me.

I experience a 'check' in my spirit when I am heading into a wrong conversation/decision....perhaps call it conviction. But likewise I sometimes get goosebumps, or a feeling of peace when praying which likewise I feel is the opposite of the check, but rather an affirmation/confirmation. I am really cautious, having already gone from Anglican and then more recently come out of charismania / Bethel stuff. But a lot of the so-called supernatural experiences I was having stopped after, dreams for example or so called prophetic words. I am now struggling to find that biblically sound place, both in a church and in my own heart. I have visited most of my local churches and it is either religion or charismania. Oh Lord, humble us and lead us into the fullness of Truth

If i think about God i can maybe feel all kind of emotions, mysticism is different. My view is someone who is actively searching for God and look what is in between them, or what resistance is hanging on. One common experience is that it's something you can't explain and goes beyond words or the intellect and emotions. And even catholic and mysticism can go hand in hand look at st. Teresa of Avila or st. John of the Cross they explain well the road or process to God and all kind of experiences you can have.

I believe what MacArthur is trying to address is distinguishing true biblical Faith which does not come through the senses with any dependence on an experience. I was just listening to Tim talk about true faith is something that you cannot see. You believe in what you cannot see. Historically the reformed faith has understood all the senses as the same. Therefore we must lean strongly away from putting our confidence in any experience of the senses whatsoever and all our assurance and conviction should come from scripture alone

Wow, another professing Christian, who has never experienced the New Birth, according to John 3:3-7. Like MacArthur, you have never experienced the presence of King Yeshua, because you have not His Holy Spirit. James 2:19 says "So you believe that Yeshua is the son of Yahweh, but the demons also believe, but at least they tremble at his presence". Clearly you, like MacArthur do not tremble, for you have never recognized his presence,nor can you, if you have never experienced the New Birth. King Yeshua says you may want to examine your heart, to see if you are Truly in the faith. (2Corinthians 13:5).

Pastor Tim your right the power of has no sell by dates. Our Father is constantly present. His presence we should eagerly long for, to be always near because I like, love Him and welcome Him for being Him. It's only natural to be near to,be close to be whom we love and respect. Only a bad father wouldn't spend time with His child, this is not true about our Maker and Father. We shouldn't, attempt to trapped our Lord in a tiny box of our understanding, but allow Him to mould and shape us into the likeness of our Lord Jesus. We have His words the Bible and we also have His hands of the potter. It's a His deep speaking to our deep our response is love, gratitude, joy, peace, awe/godly fear which leads pure worship.

On this subject I would point out to MacArthur or any other person that wishes to be saved, thinks they are, calls themselves Christian, what they would themselves affirm; and simply dig deeper than they seem to have. I would ask if you have not experienced God personally why that is? Who after all is this God you speak of? If you are a Christian you might think about answer the questions yourself? Is He real or imagined? Is He able, does He have the power to manifest His presence to you physically or in speech? Is He inclined to do so? Are you a person He might wish to speak to? Is there any precedent for Him doing so; and any reason found in your books to think He might do so again? My own understanding is that God is an eternal person with unimaginable power who loves me and views me as His own child….so my answers would be yes, yes, yes, yes, and I wounder at any that would say otherwise. That's my personal argument, from logic; but I don’t need to make it because scripture is abundantly plain on the subject. Here are a few examples. My sheep hear My voice. John 10:27-28 My sheep hear my voice, I know them, and they follow me Hebrews 12:6-11 For whom the Lord loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives.” If you endure chastening, God deals with you as with sons; for what son is there whom a father does not chasten? But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons. How can MacArthur say I have never experienced the presence of God but I have been chastened? I hope we all understand that even an atheist has a conscience and can feel guilty or do the right thing? That's not what God means here, and when you go to the wood-shed you will know it!!! been there done that. I mean come on people it says if you endure??? Romans 10:14 How then shall they (call on him) in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? Yes if you have heard a preacher you may very well belive, then what? Then you are to call on Him? What would be the point of calling out to God expecting no answer? I think though most fundamental of all is faith. Yashua said it was on this rock He would build the church how can you be part of that church and not be standing on its foundation stone? People seem to have different views of just what Christianity is made of. Where does the rubber meet the road? How exactly does it work? Where does it come from? What do I do to get it? Works? Grace/hyper Grace? Sacraments? Every one of these views has a body of people refferring to themselves as church, teaching their view and calling it Christianity? Calvin was clearly trying to answer this same question concerning salvation. But was he correct??? This is the bottom line when it comes to Christianity....salvation, there is little point in playing at being Christian and in the end finding yourself left out side the Kingdom in the dark? But that is going to happen....Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? and then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness! Please do see that these thought they were Christians...They call Him Lord. They were doing great deeds in His Name? Ephesians 2:8 For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God (break that down)? Saved by Grace… through Faith… Not Works… It is a Gift from God. That is Christianity, if you have (this) you are a Christian, you are a child that is saved…if you have (this)...what? This is a thing called (Faith) see it there (through faith a gift from God) and you had better know what it is, and where you get it. Here though is what its not, and where it doesn’t come from? Its not you believing in God or Yashua as His Christ???? The fact is every person that calls themselves a Christian will have some variation of this…they all to the last man believe in God and Yashua as His Christ; and they are NOT we all agree saved. SDA say no one but them, so all you Baptists, Catholics, JWs, are out of luck…. Mormons say NO its just them. Roman Catholics say if you don’t have the sacraments, you can’t get in, but they all say YES, I believe in God and in Yashua. Romans 3:20 Therefore, by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. So, if you think you believe and that makes you a child of the most high I have bad news. I also want to give you some Good-news. I want to open up what Scripture has to say about salvation. After all Yashua came to give us good news and we follow Him. No not by works you don’t need a single one; Grace is going to save you; but not grace alone you do need faith. Biblical FAITH not the kind you get out of a dictionary, not the kind you use at an airport or before surgery. Faith that saves is not an inside job, it’s a gift from God. Faith that saves is not something that comes from a good argument. In fact, Paul was good enough to tell us exactly where and how we get this gift. Here it is..... Romans 10:17 ἄρα ἡ πίστις ἐξ ἀκοῆς, ἡ δὲ ἀκοὴ διὰ ῥήματος Χριστοῦ. This has to be my favorite verse in Scripture because right here is the entire ball game….. If there is a narrow gate, this is the key that opens that gate. So, then faith comes??? Here is the normal translation of the Greek; So, faith from hearing and hearing through (the) word If you read it out of the King James or most other translations you will read…. So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Great what does that mean? If its just that easy how are so many getting it wrong? Is the translation, right? Clearly there seems to be a bit of confusion here, Why and if this is the key, its not the passage we want to be confused over. We all know what happens when you lose your key? You get home and you cant get in….. Most would read Romans 10:17 and say; I have the (word of God) right here in my hand, and I read it daily / now and again. Most would say reading it I came to believe in God and Yashua. The bible say believe and you will be saved??? That’s faith right? That’s what it says in Romans 10:17. That happened to me I am saved??? Am I saved? It seems to say that in English but Paul wrote Greek. If Paul had, used the term, λόγος (logos) that would be a fair understanding of the passage. Paul did not use the term λόγος (logos). Look again….it matters ἄρα ἡ πίστις ἐξ ἀκοῆς, ἡ δὲ ἀκοὴ διὰ ῥήματος Χριστοῦ. See this term ῥήματος (rhēmatos) ? In Greek to English translations both λόγος (logos) and ῥήματος (rhēmatos) are (WORD) but they do not mean the same things…. λόγος (logos) is the meaning of a thing, the logic, reason, thought; a picture is worth a thousand words and I could use one to get my point/logos across. Scripture is the logos of God. Whether on paper or preached from a pulpit, on You tube in a debate or in a conversation with your kids before bed, all that which is about God is λόγος (logos); but Paul used ῥήματος (rhēmatos). ῥήματος (rhēmatos) is always, ῥήματος (rhēmatos) is only, a spoken word. Paul is saying God spoke to you, and you perceived Him, from that Faith was the result. If He spoke, and you precieved, if you encountered, if He was present to you? Yes, sure Mormons will say they have heard God…. Mohammad had an encounter he took to be a demon and his wife convinced him it was an angel from God…. As Christians with the scripture, we are warned to test every spirit to KNOW if it is from God. This warning presumes though that we will HEAR……we will encounter. So, John MacArthur if I were you sir, coming to the end of my life, and able to say I have never felt the presence of God. I don’t even know what that would be???? If I were you sir concerning, greatly concerning. For many will say to Me in that day LORD, and I will say I never knew you?

Reading the books of the New Testament, we probably asked ourselves more than once: *"Why 2000 years we do not see those miracles that accompanied the Сhurch of Christ in the I century, as described in the New Testament?"* Why do the so-called preachers of Christ have to prove that Jesus really existed and atheists boldly deny the historicity or divine origin of Christ? Maybe because the Сhurch of Christ has not existed for 2000 years? The Сhurch does not exist in the form in which it is presented in the books of the New Testament, but there are Catholic, Orthodox, Protestant and other christian sects claiming to be the place of the Church, but they not have the only thing that distinguishes the divine from the human and is characteristic of just the Сhurch of Christ -the reinforcement of the word with signs, that is, miracles (Mark 16:15-20). Therefore, some researchers doubt the historicity of Christ, and some of them are not opposed to declaring him a an ordinary philosopher, teacher. But even if Jesus were an ordinary philosopher, his disciples would be ordinary followers of Jesus. And they would not dare to write about the miracles that not only Jesus, but also his disciples, could perform. In this world, the great fertility of atheism can be explained by the fact that there is no main opponent of critics of the Bible - the Church. If there were the Church in our time as described by the authors of the New Testament books, where miracles are performed, the sick are healed, where prophesied, and the dead are raised, no one would doubt the historicity of Christ. Then there would be the same controversy throughout the world as in the first century - Jesus the Son of God or the false prophet who seduces the world by miracles. As a result, we can say that the emergence and development of christian sects and atheism was the result of the fact that over the 2000 years the Сhurch of Christ did not exist. Find *"The Mystery about the Church of Christ"* video on RU-vid. The video reveals the prophecy of the disappearance and reappearance of the Church of Christ before the End of the World. Isaiah 53:5, he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed. For salvation, people just need to follow the way they did it in Acts? They were baptized in the water and of the spirit. Here's why! The gospel is the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we are to follow him, we must do the same thing. Death= repentance, Burial = baptism, and resurrection = being filled and rising again from the dead. That's what Acts 2:38 is. We must obey the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL of our Lord Jesus Christ... Matthew 7:21-23, Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of Heaven; but he that DOETH THE WILL OF MY FATHER which is in Heaven. St John 3:3-5, EXCEPT a man be born of WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT, he cannot enter into the kingdom of GOD. We can't come up with our own gospel. Galatians 1:8-9, But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. Don't be cursed. One way for all people. Jews, Gentiles, and Samaritan. Our salvation has to match-up with the scriptures and no scriptures on the subject can be taken away. Eternity is TOOO long to be WRONG! st John 5:39, Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. The gospels show what Christ has done on the cross for us. The book of Acts shows us the beginning of Christ's Church and how to enter the Church, obeying Acts 2:38. The letters were written to the Church to show us how to behave now that we are born again into the Church. It's better to walk alone than to walk with a crowd going in the wrong direction. Are we supposed to follow the teachings of the apostles? Acts 2:42, They continued steadfastly in the apostle's doctrines. Ephesians 2:20, We are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone. If you believe in this message, help spread it in the name of Jesus Christ. God bless you!

Eph 5:30- [KJV], "For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband." What is this 'great mystery' and why must the wife 'reverence her husband? Jesus said, Joh 3:3 [KJV], "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." That, too, seems to be 'a great mystery'. Why must one be born again? Can one explain the rebirth event? Should explaining the rebirth event not be top of the list?

John probably doesn't know he's feeling it. If God left him for a season he'd know it then. Sometimes God's presence is so large we can't perceive it. Like an ant trying to perceive it's on your knee. How can it? If we experience God's presence in a tangible way then He is condescending to us to bless us with a tangible blessing. If we are God's, and we have His Holy Spirit, His presence is with us 24/7 and you can perceive it and feel it but you have to really be focused and quiet. False Kundalini or whatever they call it is just hysteria and emotional rancor which I know Satan masquerades as an angel of light and can give people all sorts of religious feelings but the presence of God can't be mimicked or conjured. God gives us what we need when we need it, or He blesses us because He wants to. He wants us to stand in faith without feeling His presence but He is ALWAYS with us unless we have left Him.

I love both these men of God, and was very blessed to discover Ravenhill on the internet one time when I was actively seeking God. My one reservation about David Wilkerson is that he put Pastor Carter Conlon's wife, Teresa, in a position of leadership as a pastor; she seems like a godly and pleasant lady but this is not biblical, and a few days ago I heard a ridiculous, heretical 'sermon' by a woman called Wilkerson, and it turns out that she is the wife of one of David Wilkerson's sons, so, personally I think that he opened an unhelpful door there, having done a great deal for the kingdom prior to that.

Thanks for the video, but you as a Calvinist, don't commit the same error in condemning the Charismatic movement altogether as John McArthur seems to condemn the experiences of some. There are black sheep in every movement and unbiblical things, as one could easily point to the unbiblical teaching of double predestination in Calvinism. Who are we to judge each other??? Can we meet where the Bible is and stay there? I sure hope so! (I am writing this as a pentecostal pastor)

It it important to remember that Tim does not approach these topics as a Calvinist. He is simply seeking to teach what the Scriptures say. If we put ourselves in some box, as a "Pentecostal" or "Calvinist" then that often affects our ability to genuinely study the Scriptures.

@@illbehonest Dear brother, thanks very much for your statement. I didn't mean to put Tim or myself in a box, but I was trying to be honest about two things: 1st: Since he mentions being a Calvinist, he is thus having a certain set of presuppositions he just assumes to be scripturally accurate. 2nd: Since he doesn't know who I am, I thought I at least let him know what background I have (including of course another, partly overlapping set of such presuppositions🙂). My point was, however, another one: Pointing out the unbiblical things in generalizing the charismatic movement as he did bears the risk of making you blind for your own set which in turn might be all to obvious to others. And exactly that was my observation with Tim (which triggered the comment), hence my advice not to be judgmental. After all, we will see each other in Heaven, so we better get acquainted with each other here on earth, as long as Jesus is our Saviour. English is not my first language, please pardon any mistakes. Thanks.

The Bible explains how to recognize false teachers and how to respond.
@healingthroughchrist1988
@healingthroughchrist1988 4 года назад
@@WimKerkhoff But so far, most preachers I've seen who are constantly accused of being false teachers seem to be "false teachers" based on legalism rather than scripture. These so-called false preachers never once deny Jesus as Lord and Savior. Nor do they deny Jesus is the only way to Heaven. They never once preach that it's okay to sin. Yet they still get accused of being false teachers because of Christians who have different beliefs. I've even seen Christians use unbiblical methods to determine whether or not a prophet is false. Another thing I have noticed is that nobody is suggesting that we pray for the person who is supposedly a false teacher. Instead, they spread gossip about it and talk about how a certain preacher is a false teacher.
@WimKerkhoff
@WimKerkhoff 4 года назад
@@healingthroughchrist1988 We need to go back to Scripture to determine if somebody is a false preacher. They could claim Jesus as Lord, have healed people, and done a lot of great works but not actually know Him (Matt 7:21-23). And they could be "believing" in a different Jesus if they have faulty views of His diety, or faulty views of the Gospel. I do believe that there are teachers that are really twisting scriptures and doing a horrible job, but are still saved and will end up in Heaven. Ultimately it's not how well we understand or teach scripture that gets us to heaven, but the blood of Jesus alone. Who are a couple teachers that you think are being falsely accused?
@healingthroughchrist1988
@healingthroughchrist1988 4 года назад
@@WimKerkhoff Remember back in 2011 when a preacher was claiming that the 2nd coming of Jesus will be May 21, 2011? That preacher was Harold Camp. He was obviously a false teacher but nobody was obsessed with constantly accusing him. He was trying to put a date on when Jesus will come back, but Jesus said nobody knows the day or hour. The Bible also says to test the spirit. But if it should turn out that a preacher really is a false teacher, you don't gossip about it. You pray for the preacher. Joel Olsteen is an example of someone who is constantly being accused of being a false preacher. I might not agree with everything he says, but my difference of opinion/beliefs don't mean he's a false teacher. I have never seen him deny Jesus, nor have a seen him promote any sinful lifestyle. I don't keep up with everything he does, but nobody has ever provided any real proof that he's a false teacher. Furthermore, none of the people accusing him are suggesting that we pray for him. The people who accuse Joel Olsteen seem to be spreading gossip about him based on their personal beliefs rather than scripture. The same thing is true about Bill Johnson, Jesse Duplantis, and Benny Hinn. The people accusing them are acting like modern-day Pharisees and Sadducees. The same kind of people who accused Jesus of being demon-possessed. What about all the denominations in the Church? Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal for example. These denominations have different beliefs, but they all agree about Jesus. A preacher is not a false teacher/prophet simply because you disagree with what they said. Especially if what they said does not deny Jesus or promote sin. And if you are suggesting prayer, you are spreading gossip about the preacher. We need to pray for the people who do that.

@@healingthroughchrist1988 Harold camping did fool many people but did eventually acknowledge his foolishness. sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/2012/03/09/east-bay-preacher-apologizes-for-false-doomsday-predictions/ I absolutely pray for false teachers and false churches, that they would either see the truth and reform themselves to God's Word, or shut down. There's hope for them! I absolutely agree that the authority for truth must be Scripture, and not just our personal beliefs and preferences. Unsubstantiated and unwarranted gossip is character assassination to be sure. But, if somebody is a real false teacher, it's our Christian duty to lovingly warn others to be careful. Here's a simple summary comparing what Benny Hinn says to what the Bible says: www.challies.com/articles/the-false-teachers-benny-hinn/. And Benny Hinn himself has apologized for taking people's money in return for blessings and healings. www.christianitytoday.com/news/2019/september/benny-hinn-renounces-prosperity-gospel.html. Acts 8:18 Joel Olsteen says that everyone can have their "Best life now". They just need faith to be rich and healthy. www.joelosteen.com/Pages/Article.aspx?articleid=6517. But this is so false! Jesus said that his followers would be hated and persecuted and needed to be prepared to suffer for His Name. He warned them to count the cost. Apostle Paul had massive faith, yet he was stoned, shipwrecked, persecuted, sent unjustly to prison, was sick, etc etc and ultimately beheaded. 2 Cor 11:22-33. And in earlier in the chapter, Paul makes the specific point that he avoided asking for money. He gave the Good News for FREE. No bling, no fancy anything, no promises of health/wealth. If Joel's twisting and opposing so many scripture passages, how can he be trusted on the Gospel? He handled this poorly on the Larry King interview ("there are multiple ways to get to heaven") although fortunately, he did come out with an apology letter later.

To began with, John is a " Cessationalist", who has more passion for the American Flag than he does for the Cross of Christ. Not to mention his many racist undertons, when endorsing his unbiblical political position and such. Nevertheless,, there are many who have the gift of teaching to some degrees. However, when it comes to the Word of Yahweh, John teaches without revelation and Godly Wisdom that come from the Holy Spirit, as a result of a man having been "Born Again". John Mac Arthur's statement reflects his position on spiritual gifts as well as never having experience the presence of the Lord. Experiencing the presence of the Holy Ghost is a common experimence amongst Born Again Disciples. Tim Conway you must be BOLD and straight forward, calling a spade a spade,no matter who it is. I officially believe John MacArthur is untrustworthy unspiritual and ungodly. I have felt the presence of God that's the only time I've had peace. It comes when I'm obedient and focused. I feel his presence when I seek first his kingdom and his righteousness before any other thing. Anybody who says that they don't know what feeling the presence of God means is not a Christian and they don't know God. How can you know someone without feeling their presence? Who is John MacArthur worshipping? Have you ever been with someone that you know and not felt their presence? If you've never felt the presence of God repent of your sins calling his name and do all you can to obey him and he will guide you open your eyes and you will know him.

I feel God's presence all the time. I physically feel The Holy Spirit and our "connection" but I do not rely on that though. I am not looking to serve my flesh and yet when I feel God I am comforted. I think God is restricted by our belief. this is a very sound biblical principal. When Jesus was in His hometown He was able to do very little. Why? Was Jesus weak? No! He was limited by there beliefs. Same today. Some of us have an earnest expectation that God will meet us where we are and that we will know He is present. Now I also want to add that, no we are not fooled by other spirits and the like. My God protects me and gives me good gifts. I am certain He would not allow me to be fully deceived like some people would imply.

I have known about John MacArthur since the mid-80's when he was interested in buying the property for the now Master's University. Back then, his view on the blood of Christ was skewed and that caused a great debate. His view has since changed. He has also said that he does not know what it means to be led of the Spirit. His sermons that I have heard seem to be reasonably sound theologically, and the truth therein is a blessing in and of itself; but I will tell you this: they are as dry as dust, there is no anointing. I live very close to Grace Community Church. Last year, I was invited there for a special Sunday evening concert with Keith Getty, and that's exactly what it was like...a concert. The Holy Spirit was not there; it was nothing more than entertainment. I'm sorry to be so critical, but I do believe it is necessary for the sake of the purity of the Body of Christ to call out something that is wrong. What I see from MacArthur is religion without conversion. There are other things I could say about him that indicate what the man is 'made of,' but for the sake of space, I will not.
