I think everyone else in the comments has already said this, but the style and format was so relaxed and comforting. Even though it feels more formatted, I didn't feel like it took away from Zaynab's personality.
I’ve been a passionate baker for years but this video taught me heaps! - sour cream / yoghurt is added to recipes so that you get all the goodness of dairy without thinning the batter, it’s the citrus seeds not the rind that makes it bitter, olive oil will keep baked goods fresher for longer than butter, evaporated milk is more concentrated and therefore creamier! Love when I learn new things. As others have said, thoroughly enjoyed the calming vibes ❤️
This made me interested in the tea kettle! It’s hard to find a glass kettle that can handle the stovetop! Looks like this one is from MOMA for $65, in case anyone else is interested
This is so calming and also aromatic. Just looking at it I can smell and taste the lemon 🍋.. I love lemon tea cake and I’m definitely trying this recipe
I made this a few weeks ago and it was a hit! The only modification I made was the loaf size - I baked up 8 mini loaves instead of one large one. I’ll definitely make these again!
I paid more attention to the teapot because of your comment...and the teapot is german :D Would be interesting to know how that teapot made its way to New York lol
What a lovely video and great recipe. Is suiting and inspiring. I wish BA will keep going into this direction instead of trying to replicate the atmosphere that was with the past team. It was kind of forced. This type of video will take you to another beautiful cycle. Congrats!!
Zaynab should do more vids, I like her style and approach, and she doesn't seem annoying like some of the new faces they've brought on who try too hard.
The entire video was relaxing. The cake looks delicious. I appreciate that you didn’t rush, that you calmly spoke your way through it all, explaining the reasons behind ingredients, techniques etc. Such a simple recipe with quite complex flavours but for a novice in the kitchen like myself, I feel I could handle this recipe. The tea looked lovely too. Overall I can imagine sitting up at that ledge/bar by the window, tasting everyone’s trials, sipping tea, coffee, chatting away and appreciating the skyline.
It seems a great blend of ingredients but cake making is about tecnique. With these it could be blended together at room temperature. But theyre going to pompous instead. And mortar chances the whole thing… The crumb isnt really perfect like she said, there are big air pockets, and clumps in the batter are fine if just 2 not 50… and the top is sad, theres só many ways to create a perfect dome in the middle. And the glaze also looks sad.??? Im so confused by this video
Highly recommend this - made it over the weekend and it was delish. I skipped the icing and used lemon-flavored Greek yogurt instead of sour cream to up the lemon even more, it was great!
Love the editing and shooting style. I was waiting for Nigella Lawson to pop out and talk about the sunshine-tinged ribbons of batter cascading into the tin.
Would love to see more videos in this format! Definitely still a fan of the more laid back / less produced videos as well, but this is a nice change up.
Interesting video format. I definitely like the voice-over of a shorter video more than the ~30 minute videos of some of the recipes SOMETIMES. I still like the longer style too. This seems like the super old school BA videos
Really liked this editing style! I've been wanting to make this cake since I saw it in the magazine, the addition of the chai I will have to try as well. This whole video just makes me wish I was in New York, on a fall day, with a giant sweater on. lol
The recipes, the production values, the music, and the final product… Not to mention the narration… We’re fantastic. I cannot wait to try both of these recipes.
I watched this and went ahead and made some preserved lemon since I can't find it in stores here. One month in the cupboard. Baked the first loaf this Thursday and ashamed to say I finished it in a couple of days. Baked another one right away as a gift - the recipients enjoyed it thoroughly. It's everything you said it is: funky lemony bright, complex. It goes up there as one of my favorite simple cakes.
Such a beautiful vídeo but…. IAM a pastry chef for about 22 years in France 🇫🇷…. So cook with rings + jewelry and nails done with nail polish it’s so bizarre so this lady can Thank GOD 10 times a day that she has this job
Really enjoyed the format of this video. Please do more of these, especially with Fall/Winter recipes. (Hey, if BBW can bring out their Fall stuff in July, why can't you guys?
This was an amazing video 💕 I was watching it while cooking (making Chris’ meatballs actually now that i think about it!!) and the tone, the music, the recipe, it was all perfection :)
It's so weird to see the 'test kitchen ' after forever without the usual happy faces of all my favourite ex Bon Appetite stars. GOD! I want them all back, even though, they all left for a good reason. These new people here somehow fail to gain my acceptance. The recipe was great though and Zainab seems very nice.
It is great BA is mixing up their editing style, but I personally do not really like it. It is relaxing and comforting just to put on the background. Eventho the instructions were very detailed & thorough, it's like in the end I dont even remember what the video was about.
Clicked on this without realizing it was a BA video. Interesting to see how they pivoted. Such a different vibe, more calm, less focused on personalities and ensemble banter
Lovely video, it's very calming. I would like to triple the recipe, do I need to make any adjustments? Also can I use a mix of preserved lemons and limes instead of only preserved lemons?
Don’t get me wrong she’s an amazing cook and probably an amazing person, but the only thing I paid attention to was how she croaks the last word of every sentence. Why do I focus on the dumbest things?? Again no hate but once you notice it you can’t go back
