The foreshadowing was crazy in this one. Rewatches are just as good. 1.When the child watches the bird die he asks "but where his brother." 2.When Angier reads Borden's journal it starts with "we were two young men..." and Angier assumes hes referring to them two, but he means him and his twin. 3. When Bourden says he doesnt know what knot he tied, hes being honest. The brother wont tell him. 4. The magic trick of bourden magically appearing inside his future wife's home makes sense knowing theres two of em. And more i cant remeber off the top of my head. Loved your reaction. She caught in on early. She was so close lol

Another one is that they actually got Angier a "twin" in the movie for his earlier tricks. And of course Olivia and Cutter kept telling Angier (and the audience) that it was a double but Nolan had Angier's character keep shutting that concept down saying it was too simple which falls into the "you want to be fooled" line to the audience. Ironically, Angier's trick only worked because there was a double.

Bravo! I think you are the only reactors (I’ve seen about 20 on this movie) who guessed the twin well in advance. Reactors typically believe Angier’s mistaken assumption (and Nolan’s misdirection) that Tesla built a machine for Borden, even though the movie tells us twice that Tesla did not.

You two basically figured it out on the first watch and that's impressive! It's amazing how many clues it throws at you during the movie that you just miss when unaware. The movie is so much better on second viewing. Once you figure out the twist, one of the biggest clues of him living the trick is foreshadowed when they both talk about the old man and the fish bowl faking his limp because he carries the bowl 24/7 while in public or fakes his walk. It's exactly what the brothers do, it's not a trick, it's their life. What's really sad is that the true Angier NEVER got to get the praise from the audience for the transported man trick. He has the double who was always on stage while he was under it and by the time he took the cloning machine to primetime, he was dead. He killed the clone created when he tested the machine by himself with the gun, but the REAL Angier dies performing for the guy that allows him to book 100 shows. After that, it's just a clone, then clone 2, clone 3, until the final show where clone x dies to frame Borden, then Lord Caldlow (which is his birth name) is just the final clone. At least the daughter gets to be with her real dad, as the other brother said, "I'm sorry about Sarah" This movie is so good.
@BossMovieReactions
@BossMovieReactions Месяц назад
Yes, you're making some great points and I agree. Great movie. I kind of got a "second" viewing when I did the editing (40 hours) and I realized LOTS of foreshadowing that only at a second viewing makes sense. I elaborate a bit more about it in my "Afterthoughts" video. Brilliant movie! Thanks for watching! (:

This film is brilliant with the twist. People make the argument that "If you can't predict the twist then by default it's a good twist". To which I quote the Nostalgia Critic "I couldn't predict if they all turn into snowmen of George Takei. But that doesn't mean it's good." In reality, a great twist is one where all the clues are laid out so that you could conceivably predict it, but the film misdirects you enough that most people wouldn't; the reason this is important is looking back when you know the twist and realizing how it was right in front of you. This is the film that is the definition of that standard. Most people don't get the twist before it's revealed, but a select handful put it together. And for people who don't put it together, they realize just how much sense it makes
@BossMovieReactions

I'm glad to see Mike understood right away that Hugh Jackman's character genuinely had no idea whether or not he was going to die whenever he did the final version of The Transported Man! In a way, he was truly killing himself whenever he performed that trick. All for the love of the performance, his own pride, and revenge. Talk about suffering for your art.

I have to give it to you two, you came the closest i've seen to figuring it out before the end. The only cavoite to figuring it out was very minor. The first Angeir was transported and shot by the clone. The first clone was the one who was shot in the end because he never went into the tank. The clones had no idea who was who, even after all those times, because the first clone shot the original before finding out, but they had identical memories.
@BossMovieReactions
@BossMovieReactions 29 дней назад
Hi Jroldo, thanks so much for watching and sharing your thoughts. I was thinking about what you wrote and I even went back to watch the scene when Angier cloned himself. He stepped into the "cage", cloned himself, and then shot the clone, not the other way around. Am I wrong about that? It seems clear to me... He intentionally placed the gun next to himself so he could shoot the clone, no? -- Anyway, a fantastic movie nevertheless! ((:

I have been a stand up for 20plus years and Hugh Jackmans line at the end :"It was the look on their faces" is 100 percent true. Real artists dont do it for themselves ..it is to make the audience forget...just for a second all the problems..the rent..the news on the media..if they are hungry or sad..you take them away for a glimpse and into a moment of serenity....and if you can do that nothing in the world can top that on stage..so I fully understand

The theory that Fallon is a clone makes no sense. Because that would mean that Bordon/Fallon would know the trick. But then a lot of things in the film no longer make sense, because... 1. Neither of them would be surprised that Angier appears on the other side of the hall within a few seconds, but both of them are surprised 2. There would be no reason for them to want to find out the secret, but that's exactly what they want 3. Neither of them would fall into the trap because they have no need to get under the stage, but they want to find out the secret 4. None of the brothers would have had a reason to voluntarily die for a trick they knew about 5. The clone would also love Sarah because the clone would not be a copy with possibly different traits. He would be the absolute and indistinguishable image of Bordon (also in nature), but he has his own preferences and quirks 6. They could have celebrated the trick long ago like Angier and wouldn't have had to spend years playing around on small stages. It was only through the severed fingers that they had the unmistakable detail that makes their trick special. And they needed that because they are “just” brothers without a Tesla machine.
