Hello again, everyone: Tod the author here. Paul and I are pleased to kick off October 2023 with all of my current Night Lords stories to date - remastered and combined in one video - for your listening pleasure: we have come for you! Once more a big thank to Paul for bringing my Night Lords to such glorious life with his peerless voice-acting skills and for the support and encouragement from all my listeners/fans, especially 'Master Umbra’ who kit-bashed an exquisite mini of Talonmaster Vath (prompting me to write the flash-fic ‘Facing the Night’ for him in gratitude). Concerning future stories/narrations: the ‘Preysight’ series will be continued in episodic form. I intend to introduce new NL characters during various points of Imperial history (Great Crusade, Horus Heresy, the Great Scouring, etc), slowly building up the warband and expanding upon the character dynamics and relationships within it. These future works will also contain more death, violence and mature themes. Hope everyone enjoys Volume One and may all of you have a wonderfully spooky Halloween month. Until next time, Ave Dominus Nox! ~ T.T
The writing combined with the Voice Acting make this such a great listen. I am not an audio book person, but the quality from both of you have changed that. Thank you, your work is very appreciated.
Thanks for your stories Tod, it would be nice to hear a story from the position of a Nightlord who becomes more and more bored of torcher who has to constantly up the experience to feel anything anymore to "break himself" for a lack of a better term. That every day and every raid is more and more empty as he himself realises the utter futility of it all, kinda like your first preysight chapter and a bit of groundhog day. Regardless keep up the good work.
My exact thought. As a newcomer to 40k I've often wondered why people would sympathize/play as chaos marines other than "they're cool!" But stories like these really bring them to life and you understand the different reasons (and levels) that bring some to such treachery
Started collecting death guard because they looked cool, got hooked after reading the lore. The only factions who know true love. No vengeance, no hate, no fear. Yet they are "bad guys"
@@patrickbateman3146Cling tight to your faith honorable battle brother for the servants of Chaos know no end to their decrepit reliance on their "dark god's".
“My head hurts” “no shit, you should have left your helmet on” weird when a night lord has a wholesome conversation and even more so when it’s a conversation with a friend
While the VIII legion may be one of my least fave, "my father, my brothers and now my sons, all have failed me. Now you see my fate is fixed..." is probably one of the most haunting lines ever in 40k.
I think it’s because of one thing. A strange warped yet anti warp internal integrity. You want to make a campy over the top cartoon villain? Go write about word bearers. You want happily apathetic people sometimes sarcastically going about their day? Death guard. You want grumpy version of that? Iron warriors. You want depravity and insanity? Emperors children. You want sympathetic motives and good intentions that screw everything up anyway? Thousand sons. You want a war of conquest? Black legion. You want horrible people who do horrible things but believe in what they stand for and have a sense of nobility with surprising love and brotherhood, but also a few pure monsters thrown into the ranks? Night lords. I’m sure I’m forgetting someone, but you see my point. If you’re writing night lords you passed up all the above options for a reason. You wanted a specific kind of story and characters you can’t find easily in other legions. Also in this story in particular this MC’s love for Conrad and his ideals despite everything there is to say about Conrad was genuinely inspiring.
@@kevinmccalister4602On an individual basis, one can have unique characters in the other legions. Not totally pidgin holed but definitely more difficult. What makes the NightLords so great is there underlying driving force behind their actions which is, at least to me, what makes a person interesting. And that motivation is: they just really want to kill the false puppet emperor. Don’t blame them either he did them so dirty. He even assassinated their Dad! Like, okay mortal enemy forever. And their power level? It’s almost like Big E knew Conrad was super fkn dangerous and him falling to Tzench, a being of fates and destiny would have been way bad especially coupled with magnus. Them being two shattered souls and belonging to the God he could have fused them or used Conrad’s life essence to make Fatweavers visions better. NightLords visions when interpreted correctly give an edge to say it lightly and them sitting around sanguelsa finding that out as a legion and getting swooped up by a God couldn’t happen. That’d be a neat twist. Still in canon they are slowly realizing their potential with this gift and the impact it’ll have on the imperium and how much a serious threat they are if united under Decimus fully. His visions could lead to gene seed to replenish, relics, avoid danger, when to strike, ally intentions, and how to isolate his gift so others can have it on a lesser more combat effective version. GW basically gave the NightLords a Nuke with him. They don’t have to ever fight a large scale battle with another chapter if they don’t want to because once they are successful, traitors would flock to him and chaos would be very very pleased to have an ally hell bent always on the destruction of their true enemy the big E and possibly lend the NL to their cause hoping Decimus finds appeal in one of their realms of influence. Unlikely but it’s there if it wanted to be written to give the traitors the biggest advantage they’ve ever had
The only thing keeping them from being the best is the denial of support from the Imperium and the loss of their Primarc. During the crusade, the Night Lords brought entire systems to heel by simply letting them know they were coming. When they had to work, their successes came with miniscule casualties when compared to other legions. The Night Lords were arguably the best back then.
The Night Lords are one of the most interesting heretic Astartes sub factions. Never truly "fallen" despite their predilection for violence and murder, with very few being corrupted by allegiance to various chaos gods even as the remaining Astartes fritter away one by one in ponderous attrition, skirmish by skirmish, raid by raid. They often show disdain and shame at those who succumb to the temptation of the dark powers. They were always on a collision course with disaster given Curse's increasingly unstable disposition. I can't wait to see what GW decides to do with them in future CSM codices. 🤞🏻
I didn't think any story involving the Night Lords could make me feel such things. Yet here I am tearing up at the final story. "Caring is weakness" I don't think he really meant that, because he saved his friend so many times. And even though he didn't manage to save him this they both always cared until the end. In the end, their friendship endured.🖤🥹 Ave Dominus Nox.
God, the ending of Preysight II just hits so much harder after having the prequel included. Such an amazing series from Tod and Vox! Please we need more!!! Perhaps some more prequel side stories!
Thanks yet again I do love hearing this in order. I'm glad everyone here is enjoying the 8th as much as I am it's the only Legion which I actually like and enjoy the lore and theming of.
It has been a while since I commited to watching a movie, been struggling a bit in general. But this beautiful piece of art - it just flew by. Fantastic writing and brilliant narration/voice acting. Thank you sincerely.
If I was a million-air I would Hire you to read bedtime stories for my grown ass. 32 years old 😅 but the young boy within still lives and love his warhammer, star wars lol Honestly anything during the 90s that wouldn't of gotten me laid or any cool points with the cool kids, is my thing lol. Thank you for bringing this over the top bad ass franchise to life! By the throne, my girl was so locked in, she now believes🙌... "the Emperor protects"!
As always worth the wait. You’re one of the few channels I always like the video and I try to not forget to comment for the algorithm 😂. The reason is the quality of the audio effects, music and narration is professional level in my opinion. Plus, no begging for liking and commenting before the video even starts. I see you trust your viewers are capable of noticing the quality by themselves. Just pure joy for us viewers, I genuinely hope your channel reaches the stars ⭐️ so to speak as in my opinion you do the best narrations and the authors of the stories clearly love 40k as much as we all do and know how to write an engaging story. Thank you for all the quality ❤
While a loyalist of the Dark Angels (*CEASE YOUR SNICKERING!*), The Night Lords are by far the most interesting Legion after the Heresy and I hope we get more of them in the future.
Incredible guys! I just begin to revel in the glories of the Renegade Astartes, especially the Night Lords. I discover Vox a few days later and then this comes out of your dark manufactorums. You are doing are superb job on these!
You are one of the reasons I love Warhammer even though I had no idea that you were the reason why.. because amber king and warrior tier used your voice actors in all the ones I loved..to find out that the source of my favorite videos was you all along...I can't wait anymore feed me more😂😂 I need more I fucking love that shit I work overnight so with my headphones on I breeze through the night with ease...keep it coming my Guy 👍

This was such an amazing story to listen 😢 I can not wait for the rest of it to be brought to life by you and the author. You have sparked my love for warhammer in a way no lore master or deep diver has. You also make my days at work so.....fantastic. thank you vox. Thank you for all the time, energy, and work you put into these. Thank you for the endless hours you spend bringing these stories to brilliant life. AVE DOMINUS NOX!
This video just popped up on my feed and I praise the algorithm gods because this is by far one of the best 40k audios I have ever heard how have I not been subscribed to you longer
Wow, excellent reading. Its fascinating to see the universe from the perspective of one of the most evil factions and how they arw justified in their own eyes.
I now have a newfound appreciation for the Nightlords. I used to think of them as unfeeling, sadistic, kilking machines, akin to Drukahi, but I see some of them in a new light now, as actual characters, and not mere props for grimdark narrative.
It’s nice that all of the other videos are now in one full length piece. I was definitely hoping for something new always love your work. Please keep it up.
I don't play Warhammer anymore but I do still enjoy lore like this. Thank you for all you do on this channel to bring these stories and characters to life. Can't wait for more!
Always wanted to have the story of what happens after preysight. I got lost in the sauce with life, never saw if there was a follow up. I love that you're collecting stories like this.
Although I love the night lords I must break the silence with a wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo letsssssss gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
The Son of Darkness story always reminds me of that furious quote from Talos, for all the bittersweet anger it brings with it. "It is not enough. We stand in the dust at the end of centuries of useless sin and endless failure. The Legion was poisoned and we sacrificed an entire world to cleanse it. We failed. We are the sons of the only primarch to hate his own legion. There, again, we failed." All he wanted was to serve his father, and all Svlaka wanted was to keep his friend. Thank you for posting them all in full VOX, hope to hear more when you can 💙
This is amazing, I loved the night lord omnibus and had already consumed all the other NL books and was afraid there would be nothing more of my Favored bat bois
This is an amazing story, made only better (and considerably more amusing to me) by the fact that the Chaos sorcerer literally is carrying a freaking sword called Soul Reaver. A bit far from Nosgoth, but yet I still imagine it as some Warhammer 40K version of the Legacy of Kain sword. lol
