I think the stars must have aligned that day for someone to win both showcases on a season premiere and be the biggest winner on the show at that time.
I was actually at this taping. It was amazing. First of all the lady that won was standing right next to me during the interviews. I could tell she was going to get picked just by how they interviewed her. I still can't believe that bid. Everyone in the studio was moaning when she said it including myself, and then you could hear a pin drop when he started to read off the price. Classic. I am so glad someone posted this as my room mate accidently deleted the recording before I put it on a dvd.
To this day, she's now #6 in the biggest daytime winners list. I'm surprised Vickyann's still in the top 10. But, I feel like she's #1 in my heart, because she EARNED that DSW! I'll always look back at this and think about how good earning that 6-digit win with no gimmicks, like Big Money Week and Dream Car Week, really feels.
I'm not surprised at all, especially in the years that winning that big, even with Dream Car/Big Money, has become substantially more difficult. I was present for that 35th opener. Place went NUTS.
Showcase #2 in the 35th Season Premiere had the Dodge Viper, which was also won by Mary in the Golden Road a few weeks later.....This DSW with Vicki Ann MADE the 35th season THE BEST season premiere of TPIR ever!!!!
Was in the audience for this. They had to pipe down the audience level SEVERELY throughout the entire episode. We made that place shake! Vickyann, to clarify Teshawn, broke Michael Larson's 20+-year old record for CBS winnings with that win.
That was a first biggest daytime record, and that's a big day for Vicky Ann Chrobak-Sadowski during the season 35 premiere! She got a hot tub, won a Dodge Caravan on Push Over, spun a dollar on the wheel, and won both showcases: including a trip to New York, a digital camera, a home theater, and a video arcade game, and two convertible cars: a Saturn Sky and a Dodge Viper SRT.
I thought the start of the 40th season was awesome with the woman winning four cars on the Race Game but yeah I love it when they win both showcases. I was fortunate enough to witness a recent DSW. It's funny, it was either on today's show (I mean yesterday lol) or the day before that.
For those wondering what she won, almost all of it came from a Firebird. She also won an old arcade game and a nice DCD player too. It looked like she was going to get a crappy showcase until they pulled out the car.
the first lady took the 33k showcase cuz it had a corvette in it and ended up giving her a viper to bid on. if it showed the whole thing you would have seen it
+Timesmanify She knew the Viper car in the showcase was expensive but didn't know how much. People were saying in the audience 90,000, but she thought that was too high and then just decided to say this. Boy, was she lucky!

@USFCARTWRIGHT I know this comment was written a year ago, but last I heard the ratings were about the same as when Bob hosted, if not higher then when Bob hosted. So you have a choice to not like Drew if you don't like him, but I do and I've heard the ratings have been fine with him as the host.
Not anymore! Someone won 157,300 dream car in 2013, one lady won 210,000 in cash in cliffhangers in 2016, one man won 202,000 in plinko in big money week and won his showcase in 2020.
I don't remember. Now that I think about it, this puts Vicky Ann in 4th or 5th place in the top 10 big winners. The biggest comes from the Million Dollar Spectaculars: 3 from Bob, 3 from Drew, in which he had million dollar winners.
Bob didn't want too much attention on that episode being his last show. However, they did offer expensive prizes and have two expensive Showcases. That is definitely a special event right there!
Interestingly enough, Vicky Ann's total is a prime number. Her big win surpasses the old record of $110,237 (Michael Larson -- Press Your Luck) on a **CBS daytime** game show, which was also a prime number. (Again, this is solely based on CBS daytime game shows.)

Lady looks like she's used to getting "double." Double cheeseburgers, double scoop at Ben and Jerry's, and now a double showcase. I bet she also needed a double airplane seat for the trip she won. Some people just get to have it all I supppose lol
@mrnitrous20 No he doesn't. I like him and I heard the ratings are just fine with him by the host, if not higher than when Bob hosted. So you may think Drew Carey sucks, but the ratings will tell you differently.
Haters to the left, please. This was an anniversary show, so of course they were going to have extremely lavish showcases at the end. I feel bad for the girl who bid on the first showcase and passed the second onto the old lady. I don't think anyone should expect someone to bid less than $50,000 for a Viper. That would just be stupid.
This contestant was the biggest winner on the daytime version of TPIR and of any daytime game show (surpassing Michael Larson's $110,237). The nighttime version (MDS) the contestant won $183,688, which is the bggest winner in TPIR history.
