I think they must've rigged the doors, just to mess with her. If she's not really that incompetent, she's one HECK OF an actress! And, REALLY good sense of humor ! Either way, she was incredibly lovely.
@@bufnyfan1 Holly was never pregnant. She sued Bob Barker for firing her because she put on 14 pounds on a prescription medication which she was taking because she suffered some hormonal imbalance.
The fridges are on a bit of an angle, but older ones especially used the vacuum seal generated by being on to hold the doors closed. Since they're not plugged in, and are likely hot, no seal, and with the weight in the door it was hopeless.
One has to wonder if the stagehands sabotaged the display appliances only to malfunction around Holly. She had such a sweet innocent vibe and was always so good tempered about the glitches. It made it very fun to watch it happening to her.
There is a third Gibson appliance attack. The refrigerator doors finally stay closed for Holly...then the Dishwasher door opened by itself! Poor Holly!
There was a 3rd encounter with those Gibson appliances in the same year. This time, the refrigerator stayed shut and the dishwasher door opened on its own.
This shows how the Barker-era Price always repeats prizes compared to nowadays, which might be a contributor to contestants performing "poorly" at guessing the prizes compared to before.
sez: Yup! I caught you, Holly! Cussin' on a game show... ooooooohhh, I'm-a tell yo' mama! 0:58 -- "...oh, sh*t; f*ck!" You can't HEAR it, but you can most definitely SEE what she said... LOL "Holly Ann, I know YOU ain't cussin' on no Price is Right, now... do I need to come spank you? Better watch your mouth, young lady. This here is a family show... ya hear?!" Hahaha...
That is strange that kept happening. I wonder if someone was playing a joke on her somehow. Holly was the prettiest of the Barker's Beauties but she had problems with the show later on.
I wonder if they used the same appliances as showpieces, and the contestants got a different one when they won. This would explain why Holly always had trouble with the Gibson refrigerator....she was probably showing off the same one every time with the doors that wouldn't stay closed.
Everyone needs to not say anything about Holly because it’s not Her fault! Those Gibson appliances were definitely defective especially the refrigerator because the refrigerator door rubber weather stripping is defective and not keeping the doors closed!
If you look again, back then the platforms were on a 'rake' meaning the back is higher than the front. so that the audience can see everything. which means the appliances are tilted slightly forward and not level.
Holly should have known better the second time than to open the doors on the fridge. Once she did that it was all over. It's like the old saying fool me once shame on you. Fool me again shame on me.
